Prologue:
He slowly blinked open his eyes only to see a white veil in front of him. "What the hell." Then he noticed that he wasn't in his bed but an hospital one but even worse : his right hand was handcuffed to it.
The feeling of being restricted was unbearable to him, he wanted to breath, to get out of this.
"LET ME GO! LET ME GO!" Then, he stopped when he noticed that it wasn't his voice. Just what was happening to him?!
He didn't have time to ponder on it. Three plague doctors entered his sight and his heart started to beat louder. One of the doctors slowly walked toward him. "Calm down kid, You took a blow to the head and you're in the hospital."
"WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? I 'M FINE." He struggled in a vain hope to get rid of the handcuff but it just scratched his wrist.
Suddenly, he saw a bright flash and lost consciousness, he just heard 'Shimy' before he was consumed by darkness.

A tall woman with long blue hair walked in the corridors of the castle, she was dressed in a white robe.
Her name was Shimy*.She was one of the captains in the emperor's coven and led his couts while they were on missions. She always dutifully carried her orders but right now she was struggling to accomplish this one.
It started two weeks ago. The emperor sent her team to arrest a couple of wild witches who were selling their services by healing all kinds of people as long as they could pay the price.
So naturally the scouts went to their home to bring them to justice.
But everything went to hell when they resisted, the wild witches knew a variety of spells to fight which complicated their arrest and she had to kill them to protect her team.
Because of the fight, her scouts got quite paranoid so when one of them heard noise in the kitchen, he shot before entering… and found a twelve years old child nearly bleeding to death as the spell hit his head.
They wasted no time bringing the kid to a healer but the damages were severe and the healers told her there was almost no chance he would wake up.
So imagine her relief when she received the news that the child finally regained consciousness. Sure he was afraid and panicked so much that they had to use a sleep spell on him but given his situation who wouldn't.
Shimy took a deep breath before entering the room. The child was awake and still handcuffed to the bed but this time it was his left wrist since they bandaged the right one.
"Good morning. How's it going." She tried to tell him in the friendliest way she could (unfortunately, most of the emperor's coven was bad at social interactions.)
The child looked at her. He was confused. "Who are you?" He struggled to tell her that.
"I'm Shimy… I'm supposed to look after you while you are here." That was not really a lie, she was supposed to get information out of him so she would have to make sure he stayed safe until she finished her task.
"I'm not supposed to be here. I'm fine so please… Just let me go." Shimy internally winced as she saw how scared the kid was.
"Fine but you will have to answer some questions beforehand. Can you do it?" She asked him. The boy nodded and Shimy sat in front of him.
"So, can you present yourself? " It was a common question and it could clarify his state of mind.
"My name is Mason Smith, I'm seventeen. My parents are Zeke Smith and my mom is named Reagan Campell… I know, it's not a girl name but my grandfather wasn't really smart " then Shimy frowned, he looked confused "Is something wrong?"
Yes there was something wrong, her team inspected the house and identified the wild witches and their child, their name were Razzia and Tenebris Hornfel while the name of their child was 'Renatus' given the name written on his copybooks.
Beside, there was no way he is seventeen, he couldn't look older than twelve, she could have accepted thirteen but he was way too small to be older than that
Shimy took a mental note that Renatus suffered a mental breakdown. Considering he probably saw his parents die at such a young age and his head was nearly cracked open, it was not hard to imagine that the trauma caused this. and it was all her fault.
She took a deep breath after her discovery . Maybe it was for the better. what are the chances he would grieve for people he doesn't remember? And it's not like they are leaving him in the wild. They have programs for orphaned children, especially the one from wild witches.
She used magic to summon a miror and presented it to Renatus, the child's eyes widened when he saw his reflection. Shimy put her hand on the child's shoulder and told him in the most calming tone she could. "Don't worry, we will figure something out."

He was left alone in the room they gave him, he couldn't understand what happened. First he woke up in this strange place, there was elves and now he couldn't recognize himself in his reflection.
The face in the mirror was more juvenil than his age, his black hairs were now blond and his eyes were golden instead of brown. It was a different person in front of him.
Just what happened to him, the last thing he remembers was getting to bed … did he forget what happened after that? And why was he a child again? How will he go to the bathroom now?
"Kid? kid?" Someone interrupted him.
He looked at the voice, Shimy was back and looked worried. "You are already back?"
Shimy raised an eyebrow. "already? I have been gone for three hours."
Oh, he really had a lot on his mind.
"Anyway, the emperor's coven has measures in cases like…your amnesia."
He had little time to measure the pros and cons to rectify her but given the strange setting he was in, he chose to be quiet.
"So, because it is unknown if you have a relative who can take care of you, It has been decided that you will be sent to the 'EWWC (ew) programme.'"
He raised an eyebrow at that. "What does EWWC stand for?"
Shimy blinked at him a few times, she probably forgot that he didn't know about that. "It's for 'Education of Wild Witches Children.'
Renatus blinked a few times, the name was familiar to him but he needed to be sure "Okay but what are wild witches?"
"Wild witches are witches who don't belong to a coven and defy our emperor, they are criminals. the EWWC programm is an orphanage where children with no parents are sent so we can teach them magic and help them to figure wich coven they want to join."
He blinked a few time at the declaration, it was oddly familiar but he still needed to be sure. "What are the covens?"
"There is abomination, beast keeping, plant, illusion, bard, oracle, construction, healing, potion and finally my coven : the emperor's coven." Shimy proudly declared, missing his shocked face.
the only thing that came to his after that declaration was something that would make Shimy wash his mouth with soap if she heard it from him.

Renatus, or ren for short, has been in the orphanage for three days till now and it wasn't as bad as disney portrayed them, or maybe it was this nice because of the world he is in
Ren finally got some time alone when the orphanage decided to let the children have some time outdoors. Truth to be told, they are treated quite wel, they don't beat them, the staffs are a bit stric but that's just to the point there is a curfew at ten p.m and violence between children is forbidden while corporal punishment are unecessary since they have magic althought beeing frozen and unable to move must be quite uncomfortable.
Anyway, good news for Him: he is in the owl house. but the bad news is : 'he is in the owl house meaning that there are monsters, killing rain and a good chance that he is in the same reality where Bill Cipher exists. BILL FREAKING CIPHER!
Ren took a deep breath to calm down, he needed to focus but he also needed to become strong enough to live. That's why He took this opportunity to be alone in the woods. He has no knowledge on how to use magic naturally but there is one magic in this world that he knows the the basics of : Glyphs.
The former human barely remembers their drawings but the basics are still in my mind : the light glyph was found thanks to a video on Luz's phone so he couldn't find it but he remembered that it looked like a bird.
He drew a circle in the dirt with my finger, a beak made by a triangle, a circle for a head, another triangle for the wing and a long line from the 'head' to the circle.
Once he finished his drawing, Ren put his hand on it and… nothing happened
he must have missed something. Now that he thought about it, there was a part of it that was crossed. Ren must have done ten different drawings before an orb of light formed in front of him.
"I DID IT! I DID IT!" he couldn't contain his excitement and jumped in the air. he did magic for the first time. It was a childhood dream coming true.
Now, an easier one : the plant plyph. It was just a circle with a flower inside, two triangle for the head, a line and a 'v' with a circle in the end and flowers grew from my drawing.
That was good but Ren wanted to do better, he took a nearby branch and did a bigger drawing, The circle at the base of the flower must have got a diameter of ten feet (literally because he used his owns to do it) when he finished, he couldn't even see what it looked like but I was pretty sure it was impressive.
Ren puts his hands on the circle like if he was in 'full metal alchemist' before it started to glow. As soon as he finished, a giant tree came out of it. It looked a tall oak, Ren couldn't see its leaves
He laughed as he never did before, fully understanding how Luz must have felt when she discovered the light glyph.

The day after his 'little stunt', the caretakers decided to stop letting the children alone for a while, fearing that whatever grew that giant three would come after them.
Thankfully, he learned there was a place where the children could train and practice their magic, picked by curiosity, the former human decided to go there to see how witches train.
When he arrived, he saw people trying to build pillars out of the ground, apparently they are supposed to make it as tall and smooth as possible.
Among them, there was a girl, she had white hairs, she was also tanned and the most important part : her left arm was made of stone.
"Excuse me?" Renatus walked toward the girl while she was drinking water.
"Yes?"
"Can you teach me a thing or two on construction magic?" He asked her.
"Sorry but construction is a serious business and you are too young." She started while Ren internally winced considering she was probably fourteen.
"I already know four spells." He retorted as he remembered that mastering two spells was a big deal in 'adventures in the elements'.
The girl raised an eyebrow at that. Ren just drawn a plant glyph on the ground with his foot and flowers emerged from the drawing while the girl looked astonished.
"...You have four other spells?"
"If you teach me the basics, I will tell you about them." Ren quickly answered.
"Deal." Both of them shaked their hands.
"I'm Renatus Hornfel, Ren for short."
the white haired girl smiled at him. "My name is Solaris."

a week later, the children were asked to come to the courtyard, apparently it was supposed to be a special day.
"children, today is a special day, we have the vice-principal of Hexide who came to visit." The matrone told them while she presented the man next to her.
The man black hair but what was standing out was his strange devil mask, like if a demon was trying to eat him. Ren's eyes widened as he recognized the man : He was Bump, the principal of Hexide when Luz entered the magic school.
If this witch was vice-principal now then it would mean that Ren was in the past, decades before the events of the show and his knowledge could be of little use, granted he only saw the show until yesterday lies but still.
He needed to adjust his plans, quickly.
Bump started his speech "Than you miss Aerith, so as you may know, the school year start next week and principal Faust decided to let a few of you join the school but we have only ten places so you will have to make a demonstration of magic in front of me in order to determine which of you will be enrolled. Is there any question?"
"Why are you inspecting us? you are the vice-principal." Ren heard someone asking.
"Because the last inspector was fired for drinking the last cup of coffee." Bump muttered strong enough for Ren to hear it.
All of the other children used what they learned, a student used his music to revive a flower but it stayed dead as if he just played music, another one used plant magic only to get caught by the vines he created and another student tried to summon an abomination only to end with a puddle of purple goo while the last one was probably the worst as he just made his head so big that he fell down.
It was finally Ren's turn but Bump looked more annoyed than interested as he already saw four spectacular failures.
"Good afternoon, my name is Renatus Hornfel and I will demonstrate construction magic… plant and ice…" the goal was to show what he was able to do and if Luz 'two glyphs made her go to Hexide then why not?
Bump just raised an eyebrow, not impressed by the announcement wich made Ren a bit anxious.
Ren just took a deep breath before using his earth magic to build a small pillar of earth, it was about a meter tall, it wasn't smooth and was rather crude but you could sit on it.
Then, he took a pen and drew the ice glyph in front of Bump before a pillar of ice materialized in front of the vice-principal.
And finally, he took a paper with a plant glyph to present a flower to the vice principal.
However, despite everything he did, Ren still felt anxious as Bump looked unimpressed at what happened.
"Is that all?" Bump asked him.
"There is also a light spell." Ren quickly took another paper and drew the light glyph as the small light orb came out of it.
Bump just shrugged. "Still better than what I saw till now."
"really?" Ren wanted to be a hundred percent sure to understand if he was enrolled.
"Yes, congratulations young man, you will enter Hexide next week." Bump told him.
That was probably the best day of his second life.
Hi everyone, I took Tophaman challenge (in chapter 19 of 'to be a Blight') for an isekai and tried it.
The Mc names was suggested by tophaman who gave me advice for the fanfic, The MC is named Renatus (reborn) or Ren for short. He is using glyph because right now it is the only magic he can use correctly as he has no experience with magic.
I only wrotte one Isekai before and it is the first chapter so i know it is not perfect so critics are welcomed.
about the character :
*Shimy is from a comic 'les legendaires' that I read, she is an elf so if you want to see how she look like write 'legendaires shimy'
* the girl he met is Solaris, aso from les legendaires, to see how both of them look like you can see leslegendaires dot fandom and write their name.
