I don't own Mad Max

also please note that I do have dyslexia. I'm not ashamed of it because it is something I cannot control but I am self-conscious about it. so a lot of my words are misspelled and many, many of the sentience are a little back to front. I can't tell you the number of times I've gone to reread something that I have written but couldn't even understand what I was trying to say.

Please read the note below.

So this is something I've been working on for a while. It's just something I visit when I want to do more writing but can't completely focus on. Mad Max is one of my absolute favorite movies. Just under The Lost Boys and Practically Magic. I realized there weren't too many Mad Max fanfics out there. And if there are, many of them are about the new one with Tom Hardy.

Which I thought was really great, but the first one will always be my favorite. Now, I have changed a few things. First, the biker gang is more of a local biker gang, that travels around from time to time. they mostly haunt the town. Goose doesn't get burned up like bacon. This fanfic doesn't really follow the movie. I'm not one hundred percent sure where Mad Max was set, so I've just made it to South Australia. Probably Adelaide cos that's where I'm from.

I would also like to apologize for the delay on the other stories. I have been going through a lot those past few months. My nana now has stage 3 cancer and the biggest thing is that I may have another sibling somewhere out there. I only found that out last week and I'm still trying to process it all. but I'm about 300 words into Angler. If any of you read that. I've also done more on Be My Baby. I will get them up as soon as I can.

Then lastly please let me know what you think of this story, it would mean a lot.

Please leave comments and listen to the songs if you haven't already heard them.

Long Roads chapter 1 Roads By Portishead.

Dawn Hall waited patiently by the road side, shielding her light gray eyes from the hash wind. She pulled an old yellow scrunchie from her tiny wrist and smoothed it in to an lose pony tail, tying her dark messy blond hair back. she tugged at her old knitted black, strawberry printed jumper closer to her body, shielding her from the bits of dirt getting kicked up from the dry ground. Dawn shivered as she gazed down at her body seeing what she had decided to ware that day. a long light green skirt with a faded flower patten at the bottom, and a dark purple short-sleeved t-shirt with an even lighter purple crescent moon on it with the words 'Stay Wild Moon Child' on the front of it. along with her jumper and a pair of white and red sandals. She cursed at her choice of clothing that day.

'What a bad day to wear a skirt'. She thought to herself.

After some time she took out an thin light gray cardigan from one of her suitcases and placed it down on the curb behind her, sitting herself down on top of it. hoping not to get her skirt any dirtier than it already was. hearing a noise from behind her, Dawn looked back over her shoulder at the old train station she had only just exited from. Her gray eyes fell upon a only a few individuals, scuttled around the station platform. An older man with almost white hair, and a brown tattered jacket. 'maybe homeless' she thought. Who had sunken down on one of the many broken old graffitied seats. Sipping from a bottle of Jack Daniel's. across from him on the other platform stood a tall, tall women with a short shiny silver skirt, and bright red crop top with a big pair of pink lips on the front of it. she had fish net stockings on and a pair of sliver boots to match her skirt, that went right up to her thighs. She couldn't see any facial features but could make out her short spiky ginger hair. The last people on the platform were a younger couple with luggage of their own. they were holding hands, the girls head was resting on his shoulder. 'they look happy'. Dawn thought, turning back around to face the road, hoping to see her cousins barrelling down it any moment.

Dawn hadn't seen her older cousin Jim in almost nine years. once he moved to South Australia to become a police officer, he had lost contact.

'Jim and I weren't very close because of our age difference, but I was told by my aunt when I was really little I used to follow him around like a puppy dog. when we'd all get together for family dinners I'd remember him leaning back in his chair with his feet upon the table, flicking his peas everywhere the moment my aunt and uncles heads were turned away. Every time he'd flick one of the peas away he'd smile at me with a big cheeky grin. like we had a funny privet joke. He even encouraged me to throw mine around as well, but unfortunately as was as lucky as he was. I was always caught. When I'd look out of the guest bedroom window at night I'd see him sitting out alone on the swing set smoking a cigarette. Looking put in to the distance, as if he were looking for an escape. He'd always wear a pair of leather pants with matching Jacket. He'd spend most of his time ride around the neighbourhood on his motorbike. I used to believe he was the coolest, it was like he was unstoppable. He'd do what he wanted when he wanted, and there was nothing that could be done once his mind was set on it. The last memory I have of Jim before he left, was him teaching me how to climb a big tree we had in the back yard. I fell out of it a few time but he'll just laugh and tell me to get back up again'.

Dawn was knocked from her thoughts at the sound of a car horn honking. She snapped her head up to see a red truck parked in front of her. she smiled when she realized who was sitting in the drivers sit with a big grin on his face.

He didn't bother to open the driver's seat door, but instead pulled himself up by grabbing the roof of the truck and sat himself on the windowsill of the car. "Dawn!". He Hollered happily. He swung his body around and jumped in to the road. Dawn smiled and leaped up from the curb, leaving her bags behind her and running around to meet him. she was met with a bone-crushing hug as he picked her up and swung her around a good few times.

"it's been a few years, beautiful". He laughed. "how are ya?".

"how am I". she punched him in the shoulder. "how are you?, mister big-time copper". They both laughed.

"hardy big time". Jim laughed again "here, toss your bag in the back and hope it". he said reaching behind her and opening up the truck door. Dawn jumped in as Jim picked up her other suitcase and tossed it in the back with the other. He ran around the side of the truck, and this time went in through the door instead of the window. "easy peasy". He reached over and ruffled the top of her head.

Dawn jokingly push him away.

20 minutes later.

"home sweet home". Goose said opening the front door to his house, and strolling inside. Dawn followed behind and looked with wonder at her cousins home.

It was a nice place, a little small but that didn't bother Dawn. Being a single man Jim didn't need to much room. He was barely ever home anyway, being as he was either at work or out at a club or bar. As she followed her gaze found its way around the room. It was obvious he kept his house clean and tidy. He had a nice kitchen with faded blue cabinets, and a big kitchen island in the middle, instead of a dinner table. The living room was a good size. It had a long green and red couch with a two little side tables on the end of it. she could see a few posters of movie he liked stuck up on the walls and a couple of family photos scattered around. Dawn noticed one of him and his parents lent up on the fire place. The one next to it had him in the middle of two people, a man and a women. He had his arms around both of them as they all smiled happily. the women was shorter then both of them and very slim, she had a pretty face and shoulder-length curly brown hair. The man on the other side of Jim was a good looking man. With dark hair and dark eyes. He was a little taller then both Jim and the women. For a second Dawn wondered who they were. She followed him in to a room at the end of the hall.

He opened the door and throw her bags down on the bed. "and there…. Is where you'll be living". Jim cheerfully said. the room didn't have much in it, just the necessities. A bed, a bed side table, closet and set of draws. With another door leading to a small bathroom. When Dawn stepped in to the room she was hit with the fresh smell of paint. The room itself was a nice light pick colour.

"figured you'd want to decorate yourself". Jim grinned.

Dawn copied his smile. "this is fantastic, thank you so much". she stepped ford and hugged him. this really was all she wanted and needed. She wasn't a person who asked for much. growing up her parents weren't poor but weren't rich either. When something was given to her she was taught to appreciate it. from a young age it was drilled in to her to eat all the food on her plate. Nothing was allowed to be wasted. If she was given a present whatever it was she was told to love it and take good care of it. Dawn always held on to a memory of when she was very young. In the memory her mother Gretchen was crotched down to be eye level with her. she cupped her daughters cheeks and told her that there were people who didn't live in homes like they did, they didn't have parents or beds, or toilets. Ever since then Dawn had been petrified of not having anywhere to sleep at night.

"I really do love it". she said pulling away. "I'm already planning in my head what I'm going to do with it. and the colour". She lightly touch the wall, cheeking if it was still wet or not. "it's such a nice".

"happy ya like it. I'll tell ya". He chuckled. "My mate and me spent spend half the day in the paint isle, trying to figure out what colour girls like. In the end we went with the safe option".

"well the safe option is the right option, I love light pink". She smiled.

"happy to hear". He rubbed his fingers over his chin. "well, I'll let ya settle in, then I'll take ya to the pub for a nice dinner. We'll be meeting my mate and his missus down there".

Though a bit nervous about meeting new people, she nodded and smiled. curious as to what sort of people loved in this town.

"I reckon you'll like'em. Their a nice couple with a little boy. Max and Jessie".

"was Max the one who spend half his day in the paint isle with you?".

"the one and only".

That night.

"what were you thinking?". Goose asked his cousin. The four of them were sitting at a booth in the back of the pub. All holding their menus in front of them.

Dawn smiled when she caught Jessie's eye. Jessie was a beautiful young women in her mid-20's. she had a skinny body and long legs. her skin had a nice tan, and her face was spotless. Not a pimple or blemish in sight. Dawn thought Jessie had the most hypnotising light brown eyes she had ever soon. She thought they almost looked like an lions eyes. Her hair was brown as well, darker then her eyes and shoulder length. And curlier then a sheep's coat. Jessie had a sweet personality. The first thing she did was hug Dawn when her and her cousin met them at their table. She asked how Dawn's trip was and if she was excited about staying with Goose. The younger girl thought this women was absolutely stunning inside and out.

Max was equally as stunning as his wife. He was tall and lean with very, very dark eyes. He too was tan like his wife.

'I later found out they lived on the beach, so their tans then made a lot of sense'.

He had short dark hair and dark brown eyes, almost black. His eyes reminded her of the eyes of a hawk. Always watching, always knows what's happening. She also noticed the way Max's face lit up when Goose strolled in to the pub. And in that face, she saw true friendship.

"easy, the grilled chicken burger, what else". She replied.

Goose tussled her hair.

"you?".

"steak… what else?". They both chuckled.

"so Dawn". Jessie kindly smiled at the younger girl. "what made you want to come all the down south?".

"Just wanted a change of scenery. Was getting kinda bored in our little town". It was most of the truth. It was best she tell her cousin the real reason when the time was right. she didn't want him to worry about her, and definitely didn't want her fun-loving cousin becoming over protective. Deep down Dawn hoped if she didn't think about it then the whole situation would go away and blow over on its own.

but she knew that was only wishful thinking.

"then you've come to the right place. There's always something happening around here". though the brown-haired beauty was smiling, Dawn could see more before those dark eyes. 'Sadness maybe, or worry'. she thought.

"you should take her to the beach, it's perfect this time a year. Nice and sunny, not too hot, not too windy".

"Nice day for a surf". Goose agreed happily. "what do ya say?. Got work tomorrow, but free Sunday".

"who's says no to the beach?". Dawn was generally puzzled by the question. 'who would give up a chance to spend the day at the beach".

"I like her already".

"See, you got Max approval". Goose nudged her shoulder.

"and mine". Jessie added grinning from ear to ear.

Dawn felt her checks going red.

"Cheers to that then ay". Goose lifted up his tin, encouraging everybody to do the same. They laughed as they clanged their drinks together.

"so Dawn, how long are you planning on staying with this pea brain?". Max gestured to Goose with a grin.

"I'm not sure yet…".

Goose cut her off. "she can stay for as long as she wants". He tussled her hair again and kissed her cheek.

"ew, you got spit on me". Dawn ruffly wiped at her face.

He laughed at her and took a long sip of his beer.

"for as long as he'll have me I guess. Or until I work something out".

"well". Jessie said. "I for one enjoy having another female around". she sipped her beer and continued talking. "maybe having another girl around will deflate some of the male egos around those parts".

Both man laughed. "we're not that bad". Gosse said in mock disbelief.

"you once called yourself The God Of Greatness, when you own ten pool games in a row". Jessie shook her head. her brown curls waving in front of her cheeks.

"that's not me having an ego, That just me being truthful". He took another gulp of his drink. "besides…. I am aren't I".

"The god of being a pea-brain more like it".

"your no better". Jessie lightly slapped her husband on the shoulder.

Max just gave her a shrug. "yeah but I'm not as bad as him".

"is anyone". Dawn smirked.

They all order their dinners and continued to chat. Things were going smoothly and Dawn found herself enjoying talking with her cousins friends.

The night was going well until Dawn noticed the look on Max face. she noticed him looking past her to the bar area.

"what's going on?". Goose asked with a frown.

Max didn't say anything. He just nodded his head in the direction of the bar. When Goose turned around he instantly lost his happy go lucky sprite and let out a loud sign. "fuck sake".

As Dawn went to look over her shoulder Goose nudge her back in to place. "believe me you don't want to look at them. pack of bastards". He spat

"keep a cool head now". Max had his eyes glued to his friend. "we don't need you getting all fired up. ya don't want to get in trouble with Fifi. Remember the last time?. you were on desk work for a week". He warned him.

"who's Fifi?, what's happening?". Dawn tried to turn again and was once again stopped by her cousin.

"Fifi's are captain". Max replied, his face stone, his voice hard. She glanced at Jessie to see her leaning more in to her husband. Max had put his arm around her shoulders, to drew her in to him more.

Still no one had clued her in what why all of a sudden solemn

She got annoyed and turned to her blond cousin. "okay what's going on behind us?. someone got a gun or something?".

"probably". Jessie muttered under her breath.

"Just some friends of ours is all". Max's face darkened. Which Dawn didn't think was possible.

"it's the biker gang again". Jessie frowned.

"biker gang?".

"Yeah, they like to terrorize all the locals in the area. All the guys at the station have had run-ins with them". Jess whispered to her. her brown eyes going back and forth between Dawn and the bikers.

Dawn looked at her cousin to see him biting down hard on his lip. "will they come over here?". She asked the table.

But on one answered her.

"Goose". Max hissed. "just be calm".

"I should go up there and…".

"be calm!". This time he growled it. max saw Dawn out the corner of his eye. "you don't have to be scared".

"I'm not". She didn't know whether to be offended or not.

"well, nothing gonna happen, they know better. And we're not on duty". He looked pointedly at Goose for that last past.

"who cares". Goose snarled.

"Fifi will care, and you'll care too when he takes your badge for breaking the rules for the last time".

Gosse was seething in his seat.

Though Dawn may have not had a lot of memories of Goose and herself, one thing she did remember was his temper. Her mother would always say Jim got his temper from her father, Grandad Beau. It missed her sister, her daughter, and herself but it got Jim.

"that's it come with me". max got up and moved around Jessie. "come on, up". he said more assertively.

"why?". Jim hissed angrily.

"because you need to cool down, so we're going outside for some fresh air".

"We can't just leave the girls". He argued.

"they'll be fine. Toe Cutter and his gang are on the other side of the bar, we won't be gone long". Max finally had, had enough. He reached over, pulled Gosse out of the booth, and pushed him in the direction of the back door. he then turned to the girls. "just stay in the booth. Not all of the gang are in here tonight so there shouldn't be any trouble. we won't be gone long, just want to get him cooled down".

Both women nodded and watched them walk off and out of the back in to the ally way.

"Does that happen often"? She asked Jessie.

"too often. Those bikies always have a way to get out of their sentences and back on the streets. It drives Jim crazy. Max is able to keep calm though….. most of the time. He's able to keep Jim calm as well…. For the most part". Jessie said all this looking down at the table. She then smiled to herself. "something's when Jim is working and Max isn't, Fifi will call him in to settle him cos he's the only one who can". As Jessie kept talking Dawn finally decided to look over her shoulder.

And what she saw made her gray eyes widen.

There was a bunch of men over by the pool table. Their look surprised her because where she was from no one dressed like they were.

'A big man, probably the biggest had kind of a skunk hairdo going on. I could tell he had a bit of a bread but I was too far away from any of them to see any facial features. But from the way he presented himself, he seems like the leader. One, another tall pale man had long shoulder length blond, reddish hair. He was pushing around a much shorter man with black scraggly hair, tied up it what seemed to be a bandanna. And behind him a very tall gentlemen wearing an all red leather suit stood with one arms around the chest of the smaller man. As if he was leaning on him so he wouldn't topple over. I think he may be Italian'. She thought. None of them were paying any attention to anybody else in the bar as they all drank their tinnies. Just as Dawn was about to turned away her eyes caught something coming in to view. Another man had now stepped over to the group of bikies. 'where did he come from". She frowned to herself. 'was he there the whole time?. He wears all black from head to two and had a head of bleached blond hair. Though far away I could see he had a very serious expression. Which was more then I could see from the others".

"Hey, you listening to me?". Jessie's voice knocked Dawn from her thoughts. She turned back to the other women.

"Sorry, what?".

Jessie's eyes paned over to the bikers and back.

"hey". Dawn leaned over the table to get closer so she could whisper. "who are they? what are their names?".

"look, Kid". Jess signed. "you don't want to get mixed up with them".

"oh no". Dawn cut her off quickly. "I don't want anything to do with them. I'm just curious… ya know. we don't have anything like this back home". she looked down a little embarrassed to admitting at being curious about the bikies.

"Okay, fine". Jessie leant over to her. "see the big buy with that patch of blond in his hair?".

"yeah".

"well, that's Toe Cutter. He's the gang's leader and very, very, very unstable. Stay as far away from him as you can. The other three, the one with the dirty blond hair. That's Diabando, complete dipshit. The shorter one and the youngest is Mudguts. And the one behind him is Cundalini. Their known as The Zed Runners or The Acolytes. I don't know where the rest of them are tonight. probably scaring some poor defenseless girl. Or setting fire to the elderly". Jess eagerly gulped down her beer. Dawn shuttered at the words.

"what about that one". she pointed towards the mysterious one in the back. "the serious blond".

"Oh… That's Bubba Zanetti. He's Toe Cutter's right-hand man".

"Bubba Zanetti". She whispered herself.

"anyway on to cheerier subjects. My son…. Is having his first birthday soon". She said excitedly.

Oh yeah?". Dawn smiled back at Jess. As Max wife started to tell her about all the plans they made for the party, Dawn couldn't help it when her mind would fly back over to the bikers. Without meaning to, as if her body was on autopilot. She turned her head again to look back over at the serious blond man.

And as if he could sense her.

Hs eyes flickered across the bar and landed right on her.

Her body felt like a stone when their eyes met. As much as she wanted to recoil back in to her seat she was frozen in place. She couldn't break away from his hard gaze.

He was the first to break the connection. his eyes flickering back over to his friends. For a second she fared he was alert the other to her and Jessie and they would come over to them.

But he didn't.

In fact, he didn't even acknowledge the two girls at all.

Not too much later.

The four of them said their goodbyes outside of the pub and went on their way. luckily Toe Cutter and his gang didn't give them any trouble that night.

As Jim and Dawn drove back to his place he pulled over to the. He stared intently at his dashboard.

"Dawny I'm sorry".

She looked up at him.

"I shouldn't of let then get under my skin tonight. I ruined it".

"no". Dawn jumped up and turned to the body towards his. "you didn't ruin anything, I still had a good night. I liked meeting your mates, and I loved talking to Jess".

"but still… I should of kept it together".

"you did". She argued.

"They just…. they just make my blood boil. Their anyways getting away with everything, and their always rubbing it in our faces. This worlds gone crazy". He said sadly.

"hey". She reached over and hugged him. "don't do that to yourself. you'll just make yourself crazy".

This he laughed at. "already gone".

They both chuckled.

"come on… let's get you home. after all, tomorrow's a new that". He sped off in the direction of his home.

In bed.

As tired as she was that night, as she lay in her bed.

She couldn't get her mind off of the serious blond man.
