Drabble 21: It's Not Important
"It's nothing," Merlin said defensively. "The bruises… I got them… the other day." When I was battling an evil sorcerer and you were passed out on the ground… and being so helpful… "Look, I… Gwaine had a tavern bill he couldn't pay, alright? I was down there with him, and the owner wasn't too happy with us-"
Rage filled Arthur's eyes.
"He had no right!" The prince shouted angrily. "Just because he owns the bloody place doesn't mean he can do that! I didn't see Gwaine with any bruises."
"I was closest... to the man."
Would the lies ever stop?
