It was a dark night and ice king was fast asleep, babbling something about princesses when a cold wind blew from outside. That was nothing unusual though as he lived in the ice kingdom. But what WAS unusual was a dark shadow slinking up the side of the ice castle. As it crawled it let out a sound not unlike nails on a chalkboard (oddly not waking up the king). The shadow reached the window. The king stirred in his sleep, his dreams turning sour from ones about princess bubblegum, to ones of chaos and despair. The shadow reared up on its hind legs and approached the bed. It let out a low pitched cackle, as it snapped its fingers, and said in a voice so booming that it actually cracked the ceiling
"Simon the ice wizard, awaken!" He did so, and scrambled to his headboard, terrified.
"who… are you?" he asked with a lump in his throat the size of a watermelon. The shadowy figure loomed over his bed and said in a softer voice this time,
"who I am doesn't matter now. What matters is who you are… Who are you Simon?" Simon answered with great pride,
"Well, I'm obviously the ice king"
"No, you are now my servant" the figure said as he snapped his fingers once more. The ice king's eyes grew to twice their size as he said in a voice that was not his regular voice but seemed hollow as if he had lost all of his free will,
"Yes my master."
"Good", said the figure, smiling "and in the morning you will remember nothing of my visit but you will follow this one instruction." The ice king nodded his head. "You will bring the human known as Finn, and the dog known as Jake to the haunted forest, and give them to me…"
"Yes my master", said the ice king as he nodded back off to sleep.
"Excellent", the figure seemed proud of his handiwork, as he disappeared back into the cold, dark night.
