On Fortune's Wings

Chapter Six: N. Sane Fishcake pt. 1

Naruto sighed as Yuna looked him over, his body resting in the shade of the beach atop some palm leaves provided by Coco. Paine floated beside her while Rikku and Coco looked over the damaged communication array that the two female blondes managed to salvage from the still submerged Gummi Ship.

"You are so lucky that you can naturally heal and shrug off damage regular people can't handle," Yuna berated him softly, sounding more relieved and worried than angry now. The fairy had made sure to give him a very long tongue lashing for his reckless actions over the last hour, and it seemed to finally be winding down. Although, Naruto knew she was still beyond upset with his sacrificial heroics, proven when she whacked him atop the head surprisingly hard considering her size. "What were you thinking?"

"I just wanted to make sure you three made it out safely," he muttered in reply. "It was a judgment call, and I chose to put you three in the escape shuttle while I stayed behind."

Paine and Yuna shared a look while Rikku, who also heard him, frowned sadly. Coco made no visible indication of hearing the conversation, but mentally she thought he was a good man for putting his friends' safety above his own. Her brother was the same with her, taking the brunt of the work whenever they took on Cortex and his cronies while she took on the safer parts.

While she wanted to take on more dangerous roles, she still loved Crash's unyielding care for her safety.

"What would we tell your family if you had gotten killed?" Paine asked bluntly.

"That I chose to help my friends," Naruto fired back with a small frown at what he thought was an underhanded question. "If you think I'm gonna sit back and do nothing when you three are in trouble, then you're wrong. So, I'm sorry for shoving you into something that saved your lives, but I'm not going to sit here and say I won't do something like that again."

Yuna placed her hand on his arm, calming him down. "We're not saying we're ungrateful for what you did, Naruto… We just wish you wouldn't needlessly put yourself in danger for us…"

"To be fair Yuna it wasn't exactly needless," Rikku chipped in while jabbing a thumb at the smoldering wreckage gradually sinking further under the waves. Ignoring the sour look the brunette gave her, she turned to her fellow blond as a kind smile spread across her lips. "Don't get me wrong, I'm still just as mad as they are at what you did but still… Thanks Foxy. We'd have been toast for sure if you hadn't."

Naruto gave his fellow blonde a small smile before asking, "Any luck with that?"

"Well," Coco decided to speak up this time, happy for the change of subject. "The good news is that the internal wiring is fine and none of the circuits are damaged. The bad news however…"

The female bandicoot suddenly flipped the comm over, allowing a deluge of ocean water and a few fish to fall out through a vent.

"We're gonna need to dry it all out before we can power it up," Rikku finished.

"The salt water didn't cause any damage?" Paine asked with no small amount of surprise.

"Thankfully, no," Coco answered. "We just need to let it dry in the sun before trying it out."

"On the plus side, I found our swimsuits!" Rikku said with a cheerful grin as she held up a soaking wet duffel bag before tossing it over to Paine. "Now we can work and be beach ready!"

Yuna nodded before turning to Naruto. "In the meantime, do you feel okay enough for a few dives into the ship? We need to try and salvage any of the emergency supplies we were delivering to the RLS Legacy."

Nodding, Naruto effortlessly hopped to his feet much to Coco's shock, bouncing in place as he flexed and stretched. "I'm rested and good to go."

'Whoa… He recovers even faster than Crash does…' the blond bandicoot thought in amazement. Not even her brother would be able to shrug off getting zapped and almost drowning that fast, not without some help from a certain mask spirit at least. Speaking of which, Coco perked up suddenly as an idea hit her. "I'll go with you. In fact, I should probably get us some help… Aku-Aku!"

In a small flash of light appeared a brown wooden mask with yellow, pupil-less eyes with green eyebags, red rectangular eyebrows, red lips, a green goatee at the bottom of the mask formed out of leaves, and a pointy orange nose. Finishing the mask's appearance were the four colored feathers attached to the back of the head in a sequence of blue, yellow, red, and magenta.

"Coco, my child. Is everything alright?" the mask queried, the voice being that of a man and showing a deep level of care for the female bandicoot. "Who are these visitors?"

"Aku, these four are the Gullwings. They come from off world, and they crashed here in that ship in the ocean," she answered, pointing to the submerged Celsius. "They were delivering supplies when they were shot down, and they need our help salvaging whatever we can. Could you go get Crash so he can give us a hand? And make sure he brings the scuba gear, please."

Smiling at her helpful nature, Aku-Aku nodded before vanishing in another flash of light.

"Talking mask… That's cool," Naruto commented.

"He's actually a spirit who looked after and raised both me and my big brother, Crash. He's like a father to us."

"I can tell," the Uzumaki agreed with a smile that she shared. "Well, while you all wait for him to come back with Crash, I'm gonna see if I can find any supplies outside of the ship. They might've fallen out of one of the holes made during our crash landing."

"Okay but be careful. There are still some remnants of Cortex's mutated fish goons down there and a lot of them don't take kindly to folk disturbing their nests," Coco warned, getting Yuna to nod her head in agreement.

"Yes, please be careful."

"Relax Yuna, I'll be fine," he said firmly but with a reassuring smile…before dropping his pants.

'Uh what…?'

'The hell?!'

'Oh my!'

Rikku, Yuna, and Coco had simultaneously shocked thoughts with wide eyes, their faces lighting up as Naruto swiftly stripped down to just his underwear.

"Just don't do anything too stupid while you're down there," Paine, the only one not surprised, stated in her usual dry tone, getting a cheerful thumbs up in response from the whiskered blonde. That didn't mean she wasn't blushing at his actions.

"You got it!"

Tossing his clothes into a heap beside Coco, Naruto gave one last playful salute to the quartet before diving into the ocean.

An awkward pause settled for a moment as three of the four ladies tried to settle their red cheeks.

"…Why did he just take off all his clothes?" Coco asked, her face practically melting from how hard she was blushing under her fur.

"Because they'd weigh him down under the water, duh," the silver haired fairy stated with an eye roll. "How do you not know that? You live on a tropical island."

"The only other people on this island are my brother who only wears pants, his girlfriend who spends most her time on the other side of the island when she isn't smooching Crash, and a talking mask."

"…Fair enough."

Meanwhile beneath the waves, Naruto was zooming through the water like a torpedo, easily outpacing a large school of fish that scattered around him. His arms and legs were naught but a blur as they rapidly propelled him deeper and deeper into the depths.

'What I wouldn't give to have a camera or something right now,' the blonde thought with an awed look, slowing down a little as he took in the sight of the massive coral reef that stretched over the ocean floor. And he didn't mean big in just that it spread far; some of the polyp growths were so large that he could actually swim through the tubes some of them had made.

There were the aquatic life living amongst the coral such as the tropical fish of all sizes and color patterns swam around, casually drifting along or swiftly darting to and fro. Starfish sidled along the forest floor alongside a few crabs and lobsters, an eel briefly popped into view to catch an unfortunate fish that swam too close to its home, and an octopus trying to blend in with the sea floor as it snuck up on some unsuspecting crabs. Even a few sharks were swimming about, although they seemed quite content to steer clear of the whiskered blonde's path.

And finally, there were the mutated creatures of the deep that Coco had warned him about; strange looking critters that vaguely resembled their natural counterparts. Most seemed content to go about their business undisturbed, having apparently found a sense of equilibrium amongst their unmutated kin. However, a few were definitely giving the blonde dirty looks as they flexed their claws, spikes, and/or teeth threateningly.

Eventually though, nature's beauty was gradually replaced by destruction as the blonde reached the outer edges of the wreckage point. Entire chunks of the reef were ripped out of the ground, leaving nothing barren sand in their place, and scraps of the Celsius's hull were strewn about everywhere. Not seeing any of the cargo or important components amongst the wreckage, Naruto just kept swimming, keeping his eyes peeled the whole way.

Once he got close enough to see the ship itself though, the blonde couldn't keep himself from wincing at the full extent of the damage it had taken.

'Oh man, Rakshata is gonna be SO pissed…'

To say the ship was totaled was a massive understatement. Not only was it littered with damage from stem to stern, but the entire back section was blown to smithereens, leaving nothing but scorched gummi blocks. And worse still, the last explosion had caused the whole thing to split open like an egg down the middle.

The blonde's attention soon switched to a handful of dented metal crates almost as big as he was that were half buried on the ocean floor near the ship. Swimming up to the closest one, he wiped off some broken bits of coral to reveal Rakshata's logo emblazoned on the surface before grabbing onto the sides as tightly as he could.

Bubbles spewed from his mouth as he pulled up, yanking the container out of the sand and off the ground…and then immediately sinking back down. Trying again, Naruto only managed to make it about five feet up in the water before having to let the box sink again. 'Holy hell, these are way heavier than they look! What the hell did Rakshata pack in them, ttebayo?'

Giving it yet another attempt, the teen actually managed to get the box up and away a few more feet this time thanks to a nearby ledge overlooking the rest.

'Well hoisting them by hand isn't gonna work, it'd take way too long,' he thought with a frown, already feeling his lungs starting to burn for the need of fresh air.

Thankfully, help came in the form of an anthropomorphic creature that had a similar look to Coco. Because of this, and the obvious male appearance, Naruto assumed that it was Crash. He wore some goggles and an oxygen tank while piloting a submersible vehicle.

Naruto watched as Crash left the vehicle idle and held up a hooked chain that he let sink to the blonde's level, allowing him to wrap it around the crate and lock the hook to one of the links. With the crate secure, he gave Crash a thumbs up and started swimming back to the shore for air.

With a gasp, Naruto's head burst out of the water, taking several large greedy breaths as his lungs screamed at him for fresh air. "Holy crap! I haven't had to hold my breath that long since… I…"

Whatever else the blonde was gonna say would remain a mystery as his jaw suddenly dropped straight down to the ocean floor and his entire face turned a bright cherry red. The reason? That'd be because of the completely naked fluffy ass of one Coco Bandicoot facing his way as she bent over to put on her baby blue bikini bottom.

Hearing his voice, the anthropomorphic Bandicoot instinctively turned around without thinking, thus exposing her equally bare chest that bounced around freely. In that instant, time seemed to just stop; both teens completely motionless as the half-submerged boy couldn't help but stare at his fellow blonde's nude form in shock…and interest.

Then, without another word Naruto slowly sank back down into the briny deep until he was completely out of sight, the spot of water he once occupied literally boiling from the sheer intensity of his embarrassment. Poor Coco wasn't fairing any better, her face once again erupting in a massive blush at what she had accidentally done.

'I can't believe I forgot he was in the water!' Coco screamed internally as she finished getting dressed in record time, her cheeks burning as that incident kept playing through her mind on loop. He'd seen everything; literally everything!

Well, everything except…

An embarrassed shiver ran down the blonde Bandicoot's spine as she cupped a hand over her crotch protectively.

'Oh God, don't even think about that!' she mentally cried, despite a traitorous part finding the notion…exciting. Shaking her head to clear her thoughts (both embarrassing and treacherous), Coco took a few deep breaths to try and steady her nerves. 'It's okay… It was just an accident! I'm sure he doesn't think I'm some weird pervert that goes around flashing people.'

Unseen by her, the Gullwing Girls had bland expressions on their faces while their brows twitched in tandem with their thoughts.

'Furry slut…' Rikku thought.

'Bloody cow,' Paine thought.

'It hasn't even been a day,' Yuna thought.

Safe to say, the trio of Treasure Hunters were rather annoyed with the tech savvy Bandicoot right now.

After that…mishap, Naruto resurfaced and was given his own scuba gear so that he and the Bandicoot siblings could dive for the supplies. Aku-Aku would accompany them to provide protection for the siblings, seeing as they couldn't do much in the water if Cortex's old mutants decide to get aggressive.

Meanwhile, the Gullwing girls would focus on restoring the comm link. Despite the initial check showing that it was mainly just waterlogged, they wanted to be doubly sure that nothing internally was damaged by the salt water of the ocean.

Currently, Naruto was attaching a cable to another salvageable crate or supplies to the small underwater vehicle Crash was piloting. While he did this, Coco was scouting for any other crates they could bring back to the surface. He gave the older Bandicoot a thumbs-up that was returned before Crash drove off to the shore with their recent catch with Aku-Aku accompanying him.

Locating Coco, Naruto swam over to her and asked through the small speaker attached to his scuba mask, "Any luck finding anything else?"

Shaking her head, she replied, "No… Any other crates I've found are too damaged, and the sea water contaminated whatever was inside. Tools have already started to rust over, food has become inedible, and anything else was broken from the crash landing you guys were forced to pull off."

"Damnit… Well, we should take one last look around before calling it quits. We still have plenty of oxygen in our tanks, after all."

"Sure thing," she replied with an understanding nod before the blonde duo started to swim around one final time.

They looked all over the reef, Naruto once again admiring the beauty he beheld, before checking closer to Celsius. Unknown to them, they had been spotted by some of the aquatic mutants who were now stalking them.

"Well, this sucks," Naruto groused after some time looking around. He and Coco had even swam inside of the Celsius to scour it for any possible salvage. "Nothing worth tearing out to bring with us, and the cargo bay was what was most damaged by our crash."

"I'm sorry…" Coco apologized, showing him some sympathy for his aggravation.

"No, don't be. You and your brother were a huge help in getting whatever we brought back to shore. Not to mention that you brought me to shore after I was knocked unconscious."

"…please don't remind me about that," she requested, sounding subdued through her speaker. "Seeing you just lying there and barely conscious was terrifying…"

He winced at her words, feeling guilty for putting her through that. "Sorry…"

Coco was about to reply before she heard something moving swiftly, disturbing the water around them. "We're not alone, Naruto."

He frowned and tried to extend his senses. Something he thought about trying with his chakra was seeing if it can behave like a soundwave; like bats or dolphins that he read about as a kid. He vaguely recalled that it was called echolocation, and the young Uzumaki was curious if his chakra could perform something akin to it.

Priming his chakra within him, Naruto expelled it out from his entire being; not unlike how they taught in the Academy regarding defense against genjutsu. Unknown to him, the wave of chakra tingled Coco's fur, sending a pleasant feeling through her body and making her blush brightly at what it almost made her do.

The chakra spread out, and the duo heard distant cries of shock and disorientation. Sharing a look and a nod, they sped out of the Celsius into open water, not wanting to keep being the prey in this hunt. Diving into deeper waters, they hid amongst the coral reefs, keeping an eye on the sunken ship and spotting a trio of strange – to Naruto – creatures emerging from the wreckage.

From what Naruto observed, the trio were an altered species of shark – reminiscent of a Great White – that had dark greenish brown scales. Their jaws contained hundreds of razor sharp fangs while over half of their bodies were protected by dull grey plates of shell armor – almost like a clam or oyster – that appeared to be several inches thick. Said shell armors were covered in barnacles and algae, which was perfect for helping them blend in with the surrounding sea floor and some walls.

"Those are Clam Sharks, one of the various aquatic mutants that Cortex created," Coco informed him as they stayed hidden within the reef. "The water is their turf, and I don't have a way to deal with them."

"I do," Naruto assured her, summoning his Keyblade to his hand. Internally, he was glad he carried the charm that Ayame gifted him, because he wasn't sure he could summon the weapon without it. "I'll distract them while you head back to shore and warn the others."

"Why? We could just sneak past them and stay on dry ground," she argued.

"Normally, I'd agree with you. However…" he trailed off and gestured to his side, where Coco saw that he had been cut by the coral and some blood was leaking from the wound. "If these guys are like the sharks I've read about, they'll smell my blood in the water. I can lead them away from here so you can get to safety."

The female Bandicoot wanted to curse at their bad luck, but she settled for nodding and watched as he moved away from the Celsius. She winced when she saw some more blood coming out of his injury, and silently cursed when she saw one of the Clam Sharks perk up with a hungry look in its eye before leading the other two after Naruto.

Not feeling content with simply fleeing to safety, Coco weighed her options. On her own, she'd be little help to Naruto because she had no means of defending herself. However, if she did

Looking back to the Celsius, she smirked behind her scuba mask and headed back to the ship. More specifically, the damaged weaponry of the Gummi Ship.

Naruto was mentally cursing himself for not knowing the Cure spell, knowing it would be a huge help at the moment. While the cut to his side wasn't too deep, it was still deep enough for blood to seep out and the salty water not only stung, it prevented it from drying and scabbing up.

Luckily, he had other spells he could use; though he doubted the Water spell would do much damage against aquatic creatures. Still, Aero would be useful for defense and he could always rely on Shadow Clones and Replacement to get him out of a jam.

He led the trio of mutants to an enclosed area of natural rock formations, with only a single venue for entry and departure. No sense in trying to outswim shark-based mutants in open waters. He backed himself to the wall and held his Keyblade in front of him as the trio of Clam Sharks entered the small cavern.

They growled with grinning faces, hunger in their eyes as the smell of Naruto's blood mixed into the water some more. They said nothing, being unable to speak, and simply charged him while splitting into three different angles of attack. They closed in on him, and Naruto held his ground until they were close enough for him to counter their assault.

When they were almost in biting distance, Naruto performed his Aero spell, surrounding himself in sharpened wind that forced them to back off when the outsides of their mouths were cut into. Some of them even lost a tooth or two, and they snarled at him in growing fury.

Deciding to try and disorient him, the Clam Sharks swam in an erratic pattern with one of them occasionally going in for a feint to force Naruto to opening his guard. Unfortunately for them, Naruto's decision to back himself against the wall was a stroke of survivalist genius because the mutants had no way to get him from behind. All he had to do was erect another Aero barrier whenever one of them came in too close for comfort, and the wind would protect him while damaging them.

The Clam Sharks knew this, and they were growing increasingly frustrated with their uncooperative prey. One of them lost patience and simply went for broke, deciding to take some sacrificial damage so that his brothers could swoop in for the kill.

What the charging mutant wasn't expecting was for Naruto to smirk behind his scuba mask and hold his free hand up in a strange – to him – gesture before the blonde was engulfed in smoke just as the mutant opened his jaws to take a bite out of him. Initially elated to taste flesh and blood between his jaws, an agonized growl made him instinctively back off and his eyes widened in shock at one of his brothers inexplicably in front of him, a chunk of his flesh missing and no doubt in his jaws.

Spitting out the flesh, he heard another pained growl and turned around to see their prey sending the last of his two brothers hurtling into the wall after swinging that strange weapon against him. He saw red, no longer caring for the potential meal the three of them could have had. All the Clam Shark cared for was vengeance for what this human had done to them.

So hyper-focused on the Uzumaki, he was unprepared for a sudden feeling of electrical shock to wrack his body, making him convulse in agony as his skin burnt from the electricity and the pain forced him to lose consciousness. The culprit was revealed to be Coco, who was holding what could only be described as a small pistol that was blocky in shape and was colored similarly to the Celsius.

The two conscious brothers looked to their supposed prey in shock, unable to get over how their hunt had gone so wrong. The need for survival overpowered their desire for food, and they quickly gathered their fallen brother before swimming off, mentally choosing never to go after the human and the female Bandicoot again.

With the Clam Sharks gone, Naruto dismissed his Keyblade and gave Coco a look that she flinched at. "I told you to go to the shore and let me handle them. Why did you come back?"

"I… I didn't want to leave you by yourself," she defended, holding up her newly created weapon. "I swam over to your ship and found out that I could break it down into individual pieces. So, I took what I could and made this. It helped deal with them…right?"

Naruto sighed at her words before he swam closer to the Bandicoot girl and pulled her in for a hug that caught her by surprise, making her blush at the gesture. "I'm still mad you didn't listen…but thanks for the help, Coco. I appreciate it."

She smiled in his embrace and hugged him back, the two blondes taking a moment to float in place and hug.

The effort to recover supplies took a couple hours in total – the incident with the Clam Sharks not helping things – but Naruto and the Bandicoot siblings managed to salvage what they could of the scattered supplies. Sadly, what they recovered was just under half of what they had when they departed from Hollow Bastion, and they still had no means of taking what they had off-world to the RLS Legacy.

Naruto was a mix of relieved and ashamed of their current situation. He was thankful that they didn't lose all of their cargo to the wreck, but he was feeling guilty about it all the same. The crew of the RLS Legacy were depending on the Gullwings to deliver them much-needed supplies, and they failed to do so because they had been caught off guard by a ship they couldn't see in the Oceans Between.

[I see,] Rakshata was heard saying from the speakers of the restored comm link. [Well, the good news is that you all survived. I'm annoyed that the Celsius was wrecked on its maiden voyage, and during such an important assignment…]

The Gullwings all cringed at that, the four of them relived that the comm link didn't have a video function so they couldn't see her disappointment.

[…but in the end, it's just an assemblage of Gummi Blocks. They can be replaced and improved. Your lives cannot. I'm glad you four are alright.]

They smiled alongside the Bandicoot siblings and Aku-Aku.

"Any chance we can have someone come to our location? We managed to salvage about half of the supplies, and the RLS Legacy still needs whatever support we can provide," Yuna requested.

[I've already commissioned another pilot to head your way. They'll come collect whatever you managed to salvage and make the delivery before returning to you and helping repair the Celsius enough for you to return to Hollow Bastion. Her name is Rivet, and she's an Off-Worlder to an extreme degree.] (1)

"Whatcha mean?" Naruto asked curiously.

[Well, it's an established fact that there are hundreds of Worlds in this universe of ours, right?]

"Yeah," the four Gullwings replied as one, with Naruto turning to the other three and mouthing that he'd explain later.

[Well, Rivet's situation is…bigger than that. She actually comes from a different dimension entirely.]

Everyone on the beach looked stunned at Rakshata's words. Paine managed to speak up first, asking, "How…? How is that possible?"

"Yeah! I thought one universe full of different Worlds was crazy enough," Rikku added.

[We're still trying to figure that out ourselves. From what we have recorded from our talks with her, she was caught in a series of events that resulted in her falling through a crack in space-time. It acted as a doorway, dumping her out in the Oceans Between not far from Hollow Bastion. She popped up on our radars out of nowhere and we hailed her to dock here so we can question her about her identity and her situation. The rest, you now know.]

"Damn…" Naruto muttered. "Is there any way we can get her home?"

[I'm sure she'd appreciate the sentiment, Boy Toy…]

"Oi!"

[…but we don't have the means to break through space-time; let alone do so with enough pinpoint accuracy to return her to her home dimension. Even if we managed to crack the walls, who knows where she'd wind up.]

Naruto frowned thoughtfully, recalling something he read when he studied up on the Fourth Hokage. While the original concept came from the Second Hokage, the Fourth perfected what was known as the Flying Raijin; a technique that allowed him to teleport with such speed that all enemies saw was a flash of yellow.

Thus, earning the man the moniker of Yellow Flash.

'Maybe we can use his notes and figure out a way to send this Rivet girl home,' he mused, absently listening to Rakshata telling them to stay put and wait for Rivet's arrival.

"We understand," Yuna replied to the order. "Should one of us go with her to complete the assignment, considering how the Gullwings were given the job originally?"

[If you want, that's fine. Just make sure to let her know that I'm allowing it to happen. She's currently working for me for this job, after all.]

"Of course."

"We'll contact you again once Rivet is all loaded up," Paine added.

"Thanks for sending us help, Boss Lady!" Rikku exclaimed with a grin.

[Naturally. I'm responsible for you four brats, after all.]

"HEY/OI!" the quartet cried out indignantly, earning a laugh from the woman as she cut the connection.

"Well, I guess there's nothing else we can do but wait for Rivet to arrive," Yuna spoke up.

"Looks that way," Naruto agreed with a sigh, sitting down on the beach and leaning against a palm tree to enjoy the shade it provided. The Gullwings took their usual places on his shoulders and head while the two Bandicoots and Witch Doctor Mask settled themselves across from the blonde human. "So, how's it feel meeting four off-worlders?" he asked with a sheepish grin.

"It's amazing, actually," Coco replied with a smile. "I've wanted to go off our planet – well, I guess it's a World – and see what was out there. While I'm sorry you four crashed landed here, I'm still glad we met you."

Crash nodded in agreement with his little sister, grinning at the four Gullwings and getting them to smile/grin back at him.

"Will you four be alright while your ship is repaired?" Aku-Aku questioned them in concern, earning him grateful looks from the quartet.

"We'll manage," Yuna assured him. "While one of us goes with Rivet to make the supply delivery, the rest of us should be fine here."

"If nothing else, we can take a page out of Coco's book and take off some of the Gummi Blocks from the ship and create a makeshift shelter to sleep in," Paine added.

"That was really smart of you, by the way!" Rikku praised the female Bandicoot, earning a bashful blush from Coco which grew when Crash playfully ruffled her hair to show how proud he was of his genius little sister. "Shame you were only able to get a Thunder Gummi Block for ammo, though."

"Well, it was a big help against those Clam Sharks," Naruto spoke up before turning back to Coco. "Maybe later, we can see if there are other elemental Gummi Blocks we can use to improve that thing you made."

"I think I'll call it a Gummi Gun," Coco told them. "It is a gun made from Gummi Blocks, after all."

"Whatever you say," Paine commented with a shrug, honestly not caring what the weapon was called.

Their talks were cut short by a rumble that shook the entirety of N. Sanity Island, making the group of seven look around in surprise before Aku-Aku gasped and called out, "The volcano! It's changing!"

The others looked to where the Witch Doctor Mask was, their eyes wide in shock as the once reddish-orange lava began to bleed a midnight violet color. What made things worse for the group was when small pools of what could only be Darkness formed on the beach and spawned some small imp-like creatures with yellow eyes and strange antennae.

"Heartless!" Yuna called out in shock. "What are they doing here?!"

"Oh, don't tell me…" Paine grumbled with a face palm.

"You can't mean…!" Rikku cried out while turning to her friend.

Naruto growled and got to his feet while summoning his Keyblade. "We can talk about it later! We got a fight on our hands!" Turning to the other three, he warned them, "I'm not sure what's making these things appear, but get ready!"

Crash shared a nervous look with his sister, but the siblings were given some confidence when they saw Aku-Aku nodding to them with a small smile. "We must defend the island, children. Be ready."

Coco took a breath and nodded before pulling out her Gummi Gun. "I'm ready!"

Crash frowned at the Heartless spawning around his home, spinning dangerously in place for a moment before his face gained a determined look.

Whatever was happening, they would protect their home and the innocent wildlife that inhabited it.
