Two people are reading Erma.
"What are we going to submit for the 13 Days of Erma-ween event?"
"Probably just Touhou, Yo-Kai Watch or The Ring. All three tackle youkai in some way."
"Anyways. How would a full-blown crossover with Touhou go?"
"I think it would go quite smoothly. Other than the fact that the Yureimotos consists of different youkai species, which is not possible in Touhou, I think they'd fit right in!"
"In the comics, we see that the youkai all look true to their myths, both male and female. In Touhou though, most youkai look like humans with odd features for females, with only males looking true to their myths, and they don't appear much."
"We can brush it off as a regional difference or a side effect of the Barrier. Though this would make Haru interacting with someone like Nitori quite awkward."
"Too bad the only major settlement are for humans."
"Well, the titular character Erma is a good example of how youkai don't exactly require fear to survive. Sure, she scares people unintentionally but most of her friends are humans who are more interested in her powers. Maybe this can loosen some rules regarding fear!"
"She's also half-youkai. She'd probably fit in quickly."
"How about her dad Sam?"
"I don't think he's going to be eaten. His chill would turn Letty into Parsee (ha, puns), not to mention if he gets hurt, his wife Emiko would fight for him."
"Despite being zashiki-warashi, I feel like the twins would actually get along with the fairies. They are pranksters, after all."
"Then Reimu would see this as an incident so Yori would have to step in! I feel like Sekibanki's conflation between both rokurokubi AND nukekubi would confuse Yori and Ena, which I CAN definitely see the relation given that their youkai types are closely related."
"You mean something like, 'You're a rokurokubi with nukekubi traits AND you refer to yourself as these Irish dudes? Huh?' while Seki's like, 'How does a rokurokubi produce a pair of zashiki-warashis?'"
"I like that! Let's see... harionago are youkai that aren't in Touhou yet. Assuming that a species' first appearance is also the first time a Touhou character meets them, I feel like Reimu would try to investigate on Fumiko."
"But if that's NOT the case, maybe there would be less awkward interactions."
"If they fight, how? I don't think anyone on the Erma side would know about the spellcard system..."
"Probably no spellcards. Spellcards are actually quite rare in manga battles!"
"Back to the characters. Do you think Kentaro would get along with the other oni?"
"Maybe. He is shown to be really popular among other youkai. But other than clashing names, how about Mayumi or Rin?"
"Saving the best for the last I see. I don't think the names are too bothersome given they're written differently compared to the haniwa and the kasha. While we haven't seen a nopperabo in Touhou before, Mayumi CAN give herself a face, thus alleviating the onlookers. Rin is a bit more problematic, given that we can't exactly Touhoufy a nure-onna."
"Otherwise the point of a nure-onna is lost. Maybe just don't put her near the village."
"But if the fear policy is loosened, maybe everyone can visit the village with relative safety."
"I can definitely see Kosuzu being fascinated for youkai that actually look like youkai."
"Most species-sharing characters would also work quite well in terms of interactions."
