Chapter 5
Ari P.O.V
Not only were my dad and Saber there, but so were my four best friends!
"Guys!" I cried happily, smiling. "What are-" This was all I managed to let out before I was swamped in a group hug.
"You've gone part cat!" Mark laughed.
"Hello to you too." I said.
Cari smiled mischievously as she reached her hand up. She scratched between my ears and I purred.
"I think she's gone half cat, not part cat!" Cari laughed.
"Cute!" Faith said at my expression.
I quickly shook my head, and removed myself from the group hug. "You know, I find that extremely weird!" I said, now, "What are you guys doing here?"
"We got here yesterday, you were still out of it." Paddy said.
"How long was I out for?" I asked.
"Three days." dad answered standing up. "You look much better."
"I feel much better." I admitted, nodding.
"I'm glad. It's about time you got better." Dad said. "I have to say though, you gave me one hell of a scare when I saw you, you looked like you'd taken a turn for the worst."
"Sorry I scared you." I said.
Dad waved his hand, "Not your fault. You couldn't help it."
"So, what are you guys doing here?" I asked my friends.
"Your dad invited us, you know, as a surprise." Faith answered.
"We didn't expect to turn up and see you growing a cats tail and ears." Cari said. "It was a shock, I tell you."
"Let me guess, it made an interesting Facebook status update?" I asked rhetorically.
"No!" Cari said. "Not for me, anyway!" She said, pointing at Paddy.
"It was only short: 'Ari is a cat'. That was all I put." Paddy stated simply.
"I bet that got a couple of strange questions." I said.
"Yeah. The only answer I put up was that they'd see in school." Paddy laughed.
"Keep 'em in suspense." I said, shaking my head.
Suddenly the phone rang. Saber got up and answered it. After he hung up he said; "I'm going to have to go out for a couple of days. We'll have to put training on hold." he added the last part to me, but I had the feeling that all of it was meant for just me anyway.
I nodded. "See you soon then. Good luck." I walked over and gave him a hug. It surprised him, because it took him a moment to hug me back. That was something about me, I hug people. A lot. I wasn't the only one, Cari and Faith were exactly the same.
The six of us left the house, and walked across the roads to dads, leaving Saber to do what he had to. Once in the house, my friends and I went to hang out in the living room.
"So, what does it feel like, to be a mutant?" Cari asked.
"It feels… brilliant. I've never felt this good, this strong in fact."
"You feel stronger than you were before you fell ill?" Mark asked.
I nodded. "I think I could…" I stood up and moved back so I had enough room, and then I jumped as high as possible, and I did a back flip in mid air.
"Wicked." Mark breathed.
"Wow." I said. I'd never been able to do this on a trampoline, let alone without one.
"Well, you're definitely agile." Cari said. "I wonder if you'll all-ways land on your feet?"
"I don't know. Maybe. Should I try it?"
"No! Not until you're positive it'll work!" Faith said. The others were in agreement.
My shoulders slumped. "It'd only be a jump out of my bedroom window." I said in a pouty voice.
"There is still no way you'll be going through with it. Even if I have to tie you down!" Mark said. He then got a look on his face that said he'd twisted it. He shuddered. "Not the way I want to think of my sister!" He said.
"Mark!" Faith, Cari and I chorused. I then took a swipe at him, slapping him across the back of the head.
"Oww." He said. "You've definitely gotten stronger."
We all laughed.
