Chapter 20: A Bright Future
The smoke from the wreckage began to clear as the morning sun began to rise over the horizon. Shen lay there in the wreckage of his ship, ironically seeming to represent his broken dreams of conquest.
The disheveled peacock coughed up dust as he looked up, seeing his destroyed cannon tilted high in the air, held up by several ropes.
Turning his head, Shen could only look on in disbelief at his destroyed fleet, his forces in complete disarray.
"H-how did you… how did you do it?" Shen asked Po, Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo as they approached him.
Po simply shrugged. "You know, you just gotta keep your elbows up and keep your shoulders loose-"
"Not that!" Shen snapped. "How did you find peace? I took away your parents! Everything! I… I scarred you for life!"
Po again shrugged. "See, that's the thing, Shen. Scars heal."
Shen shook his head. "No, they don't… wounds heal."
"Oh, yeah. What do scars do? They fade I guess…" Po said, looking like he was pondering the meaning of life.
"I don't care what scars do." Shen scoffed.
"You should, Shen." Po told him. "You gotta let go of that stuff from the past 'cause it doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is what you choose to be now."
Shen's eyes widened as he slowly nodded. "You're right." He whispered. "Then I choose… this!"
In a flash, Shen pulled out his knives and slashed furiously Po and the Turtles, forcing them to dodge out of the way as the fight began.
Meanwhile by the harbor, Tigress finally managed to gather enough strength to get off of her piece of driftwood and swim over to one of the ships that was still mostly intact, pulling her water-logged body out of the water as the others joined her.
"Is everyone alright?" Shifu inquired.
"Do we look alright?" Casey asked sarcastically.
Viper gave Tigress a light glare. "What were you thinking when you shoved Po out of the way?! That blast could have killed you!" She hissed.
Tigress looked down slightly, still feeling too tired to speak, lowered her head in slight shame, but the look in her eyes clearly stated she did not regret what she did in the slightest.
Viper sighed before immediately wrapping herself around Tigress in a serpent's version of a hug. "Just don't do that again." She said with relief.
Tigress gave her a light pat to the head, gently pushing her off as Viper was reminded her feline sister wasn't quite comfortable with hugs.
"So, where are the guys?" April asked.
As if on cue, they heard the sounds of clashing steel, forcing them all to look to the wreckage of the ships as they spotted Po, Leo, Raph, Donnie, and Mikey battling Shen on his ship.
"Come. We must aid them!" Usagi stated, with the others nodding in agreement.
They were about to head down and join Po and the Turtles when suddenly a metallic hand burst out from the wooden wreckage in front of them.
From piles of wood emerged Ch'rell, his robotic exo-skeleton suit heavily damaged, sparking and looking like it was about to fall apart any second.
"Ch'rell!" Crane exclaimed.
"He survived?" Monkey questioned.
Ch'rell growled, panting heavily. "The Kraang have come too far and lost too much to lose the likes of you, repulsive animals!" He declared.
"Who are you calling an animal?" Kintaro questioned.
"At least we're not stupid aliens!" Mantis remarked.
"Attack!" Shifu shouted.
With that, the Five, April, Casey, Shifu, Usagi, Kintaro, Ox, Croc, and Mei Ling charged at the Kraang general. Ch'rell quickly batted away Casey and Monkey before shooting his fist out at Ox, grabbing him and slamming him into the ground.
Before Ch'rell could do anything else, both Tigress and Mei Ling ran up and kicked Ch'rell in the back, knocking him down.
"It's over, Ch'rell!" Tigress stated as they regrouped.
Ch'rell snarled as he got up. "It is not over until I say it is over!" He then raised the arms of his robotic suit as they opened up and began blasting at the warriors, forcing them all to dodge out of the way.
Usagi rushed forward with a yell, stabbing his katana into Ch'rell's shoulder. The Kraang general ignored the blow as he grabbed the rabbit samurai and tossed him away.
Kintaro leapt at Ch'rell with his axe raised, only for the Kraang general to uppercut him into the air before batting him away.
Mei Ling whacked the Kraang general with her staff, making him stagger back slightly. She tried to attack again, but Ch'rell batted the golden cat away with the back of his hand.
"Foolish creatures!" Ch'rell said as he brought his fist down on Crane.
Ch'rell then raised his blaster arms to finish Crane off when Tigress quickly slashed at the Kraang general's blaster arms with her claws, effectively disabling them.
"No matter!" Ch'rell declared, his blaster arms transforming back into hands. "I only need these!" He pounded his fist into his palm.
Ch'rell then charged forward, smashing into Croc before slamming his fist into Casey's gut. April dodged a kick from Ch'rell before slashing at his head with her tanto and blasting him back with a psychic push.
Shifu and Mei Ling quickly ran forward, Mei Ling slamming her staff into Ch'rell's gut, where his Kraang brain was, making him double over. While he was down, Shifu jumped up and swung Oogway's staff across Ch'rell's head.
As he landed, Shifu eyed the pink electricity emitting from Ch'rell's various gashes, giving him an idea.
"Everyone! Use your weapons to penetrate his armor!" The red panda yelled. "It might be the only way to stop him!"
"Crack him open?" Casey said. "Now you're talking! Goongala!" He then swatted several explosive pucks at Ch'rell to distract him as the others went in.
April threw her tessen and her tanto at Ch'rell, her tessen piercing in the body's eye and the tanto in its shoulder.
Usagi unsheathed his second katana as he stabbed them both into the robot body's chest.
Kintaro wedged his axe into Ch'rell's left leg while Ox rammed one of his horns into Ch'rell's right leg, Croc coming in last to slash at Ch'rell's chest with his claws.
Ch'rell staggered back, his robot body sparking and crackling, looking like it was ready to fall apart at the slightest touch.
"You… pathetic creatures… cannot defeat me!" Ch'rell let out.
"Don't be so sure!" Tigress stated. "Now!" She yelled to the rest of the Five as they charged forward.
Monkey leapt up with a screech, landing a powerful sidekick to Ch'rell's chest.
Viper came next as she slithered along Monkey's shoulders before jumping off and using her tail as whip, slapping the Kraang general hard enough to send him stumbling back.
Mantis then used Viper's tail as a spring as he leapt up and hit Ch'rell in the chest with his pincers, keeping the Kraang general off balance.
Up next was Crane, who used his beak to grab a piece of rope from the wreckage as he kicked Ch'rell in the head to keep him off balance, swooping around him and wrapping him up tightly in the rope.
Finally, Tigress leapt up onto Crane's back, using him as a jumping point as she pulled her arms back and thrust them forward with all her might into her signature double-palm strike.
Ch'rell didn't have any time to react as Tigress' strike hit him like a bullet train, sending him flying back a good few feet and crashing into a piece of wreckage, his robot body completely scrapped. Ch'rell was just barely able to pull himself out of his robot body as the warriors surrounded him.
"My body." He lamented. "My beautiful body!"
He then looked up, seeing the Five, April, Casey, Shifu, Ox, Croc, Usagi, Kintaro, and Mei Ling looking down at him with less-than-pleased looks.
Ch'rell immediately sweatdropped as he gulped in fear.
While all of this had been happening, Po and the Turtles continued to battle Shen, the peacock refusing to give any ground.
Leo grunted as he clashed his katanas with Shen's knives. "It doesn't have to be this way, Shen!"
"Yes, it does!" Shen rebuffed, shoving Leo back slightly.
"Buddy, look around you!" Raph said, throwing some shurikens at the peacock before charging forward with his sais. "Your fleet's destroyed, your army's gone, you've lost!"
Shen scowled as he blocked the shurikens before kicking Raph away. "I have not lost! Not while I still draw breath!" He then tossed several knives at Donnie.
Donnie quickly deflected the knives as he twirled his staff. "Think, Shen! You can do something good for once! Without the need for malice! Without the need for conquest! Just stop this madness!"
"I will never stop!" Shen declared as blocked both Donnie's staff and Leo's katanas. "I will not stop until you all lay dead at my feet!"
Mikey then came in from behind and kicked Shen in the back. "What's the point anymore, dude?" He questioned. "What's killing us gonna prove? What are you trying to prove?"
Shen did not answer at first as he got back to his feet. "While you may have beaten my army, at least I'll still have the satisfaction of putting my blade through all of you to show destiny that I won't be controlled! That I won't simply stand by while others make decisions for me!"
Po stood with the Turtles as took combative stances. "Last chance, Shen." The panda warned him. "Surrender, or be taken down."
Shen snarled. "I would rather die than yield to you." He hissed, grabbing his lance from the wreckage.
With narrowed eyes, Po and the Turtles rushed forward, swinging and dodging as they fought the peacock.
As they continued fighting, Shen began to swing even more wildly at them, forcing them to dodge. But unbeknownst to them, each time Shen slashed at them, he unknowingly began severing each of the ropes holding the cannon up in place.
Mikey smacked Shen with the bladed end of his kusarigama chain, causing the peacock to stagger back.
Donnie lunged forward, jabbing the end of his staff into Shen's chin, knocking his head up.
Raph then leapt down from a high perch on the wreckage, landing on Shen's back and stabbing him in the shoulders with his sais before jumping off.
Shen struggled to keep his lance up as Leo lunged forward, slashing him across the chest with katanas, leaving two rather nasty cuts on him.
Finally, it was Po's turn as he blocked a weak swing from Shen's spear with his paw before grabbing it and kicking Shen away, sending the peacock crashing into the last rope and causing it to snap.
With the ropes no longer holding it back, the cannon began to topple over. Po, Leo, Raph, Donnie, and Mikey quickly noticed the coming danger and made a break for the ship's bow.
Shen looked up, seeing the cannon falling towards him… and closed his eyes, almost like he was at peace as his creation crashed down on him, the cannon and the ship exploding in a bright flash, the force of the explosion sending Po and the Turtles into the water.
There was a moment of silence as the Five, April, Casey, Shifu, Ox, Croc, Usagi, Kintaro, and Mei Ling waited in anticipation on the intact boat.
Suddenly, Po, Leo, Raph, Donnie, and Mikey burst out of the water, all of them gasping for air as the Turtles quickly pulled their waterlogged bodies out onto the boat.
The citizens of Gongmen City cheered, rejoicing in the defeat of their wicked ruler.
Leo, Raph, Donnie, and Mikey were quickly met by their friends as they got onto the boat.
April ran forward, glomping Donnie before giving him a kiss on the cheek, getting the smart turtle into a flustered mess.
Raph and Casey clasped their hands and slammed their heads together with a yell of triumph.
Mikey happily greeted Viper and Kintaro with a tight hug, laughing with joy and relief.
Leo, meanwhile, got a friendly pat on the shoulder from Usagi, who smiled back at him with a respectful nod.
Po was still in the water as he grasped onto a floating piece of driftwood, coughing up some of the salt water that had gotten into his mouth when he noticed a familiar paw reaching out to him.
He looked up, seeing Tigress offering a helping paw as she smiled softly at him. Smiling back, Po took her paw as she pulled him out of the water and onto the boat.
"That… was pretty hardcore." Tigress said to him with a gentle voice.
Po smiled at Tigress, and before she could react, he suddenly wrapped his arms around her in a tight hug.
Tigress froze in shock, but didn't push him away as Leo, Donnie, Mikey, Viper, Crane, Monkey, Mantis, April, Casey, Shifu, Ox, Croc, Usagi, Kintaro, and Mei Ling all stared at them with wide eyes at the fact that Po was hugging Tigress and that Tigress was practically letting him do it.
Crane's beak comically dropped open while Raph smirked, folding his arms. "Geez, get a room, you two." The red clad turtle remarked.
"Shut up, Raph." Po and Tigress both said, a light blush adorning each of their cheeks as Po finally released Tigress from his embrace.
Mikey then walked up to Po, Raph, and Donnie. "Gotta say, I sure am stoked you guys are back. C'mere!" He then lunged forward, pulling the three of them into a tight hug which Leo, April, Casey, Viper, Crane, Monkey, and Mantis joined while Tigress simply smiled at the heartwarming embrace.
"We're glad to be back." Donnie said with a light chuckle as they broke apart.
Shifu smiled as he approached them. "It seems you have all found and mastered inner peace." He said, his voice filled with pride.
Po shrugged with a small smile. "Well, we had a pretty good teacher." He then moved to hug Shifu, only to be surprised to see his master had disappeared from his arms. He looked behind him to see Shifu standing on a pole poking out of the water.
"So… what happened to Ch'rell?" Raph asked.
"We kicked his butt six ways to Sunday. Pretty rad, right?" Casey grinned, holding up the Kraang general, who comically had bruises all over his pink little brain body.
Just then, electricity crackled through the air next to them before a pink triangular portal opened up in front of them.
Po, the Turtles, the Five, April, Casey, Shifu, Ox, Croc, Usagi, Kintaro, and Mei Ling all yelped as they jumped back, startled by the sudden appearance of the portal.
Out from the portal stepped a tall looking human man dressed in a black suit and tie, with a pair of sunglasses on his eyes as two Kraang-droids, only these ones had white bodysuits with light blue highlights instead of the usual pink, emerged from the portal with him.
"Bishop?!" Leo, Raph, Donnie, Mikey, April, and Casey all exclaimed.
"Greetings, Turtles." Bishop greeted them formally.
The Five, Shifu, Ox, Croc, Usagi, Kintaro, and Mei Ling looked ready to attack when the Turtles, April, and Casey quickly jumped in front of them.
"Wait, guys, stop!" April exclaimed.
"What are you guys doing?" Mei Ling questioned. "Those are Kraang!"
"They're not like other Kraang, guys! You gotta believe us!" Mikey exclaimed.
"Everyone… meet Bishop." Leo introduced Utrom. "He's an Utrom… a good Kraang."
"'Good Kraang'?" Ox asked skeptically.
"I understand if you do not trust me." Bishop stated, speaking for himself. "But I can assure that I mean no harm. We have been searching for the Turtles for the past several months now at the request of their allies." He then looked to see Ch'rell in Casey's paw. "And it seems we have discovered more than we intended to."
Casey glanced at Ch'rell, who was still holding by the tentacles, and laughed slightly nervously. "You're probably gonna wanna take this guy, huh?" He said, handing Ch'rell over to Bishop.
Bishop took Ch'rell into his hands. "We are aware that the six of you have been trapped in this dimension for some time. As such, we are willing to give you the choice to return to your home dimension." He said to the Turtles, April, and Casey. "That is, if you want to?"
Leo, Raph, Donnie, Mikey, April, and Casey all collectively gasped. They could go home? They could see their friends and families again?
On instinct, all of them looked like they were about to say yes, but then they looked to the Five, Shifu, Usagi, Kintaro, Ox, Croc, and Mei Ling, their new friends. Doubt began to build in them as Leo, Raph, Donnie, Mikey, April, and Casey seemed to begin to question… if they even wanted to return home.
Back home in New York, the Turtles were seen as freaks while April and Casey barely had any interaction with society.
Here, they were appreciated and seen as heroes. They could walk around in the daylight like anyone else without being called freaks or monsters.
But then again, their friends and some of their family still resided in New York, so wouldn't it be selfish to just choose to stay in this world permanently?
"Well… Leo's the leader." Raph said, patting his eldest brother's shoulder. "In the end, it's his call to make."
Leo glanced at his family before looking at their new friends. Just then, Shen's destroyed ship suddenly exploded in a shower of beautiful fireworks as the citizens of Gongmen City cheered. "Thanks, Bishop." Leo said, a new epiphany coming to him. "But as tempting as that offer is…" He then turned to his friends and family as they began observing the show with bright smiles and happy faces, making him smile in turn. "... I think maybe we'll stick around a little while longer before going back."
Bishop nodded in understanding. "Very well. If that is what you wish." He then turned towards the portal as the two other Utrom soldiers walked through it.
"At least tell our friends in New York that… we're okay. And that… we won't be gone for long." Leo told him.
Bishop nodded in agreement before entering the portal, the pink gateway closing behind him.
Leo watched the portal close before going to join his friends in watching the fireworks.
"So beautiful." April gasped in wonder as they watched the fireworks.
Leo sighed softly. "Come on, team. Let's go home."
And among the cheering citizens, the Soothsayer smiled happily as she watched the fireworks, a yin and yang symbol flashing amongst the display.
"What do you mean they're not here?!" A mother pig demanded as her young sniffled, on the verge of tears. "It's my son's birthday! All he wanted was to meet the Dragon Warrior and his guardians!"
Mr. Ping sighed as he was forced to deal with these particularly difficult customers at his restaurant. "How about some tofu birthday cake instead?"
"You know what," The mother pig said, standing up from her table, "we'll try again some other time. I mean, the Dragon Warrior is your son, right? When do you think he'll be back?"
Those words seemed to break Mr. Ping's heart as he slumped his head on the table in tears. "I don't know, okay, I DON'T KNOW! Maybe never! I mean, I worry, okay, I'm his dad… or at least I was his dad." He sobbed pitifully. "Why did he have to go and save China… I know why, but why?" He sniffled. "My little panda…"
The pig mother and her child looked surprised and even seemed to feel a bit of pity for the elderly goose.
The pig child even looked like he was about to reach out and comfort Mr. Ping when he noticed a certain someone at the doorway.
The pig child giggled happily, bouncing up and down in his seat as he pointed at the entrance to the shop, causing Mr. Ping to look behind him.
And right there at the entrance was Po, standing there with a smile and carrying two radish boxes in each arm.
Mr. Ping let out a cry of delight, rushing over to his big panda son giving him a huge hug.
"So how did it go?" Mr. Ping asked as Po set him down. "Did you save China?"
Po nodded. "Yep."
Mr. Ping nodded back. "I knew you would… that's why I had these new posters made…" He then pulled out a small poster with Po on it, "'My son saved China. You too can save, buy one dumpling and get one free'!"
"Hey, that's a pretty good deal. But first…" Po set down the radish baskets. "There's something I should tell you."
Mr. Ping looked up at his son, gulping slightly in nervousness.
"While I was gone… I found the village where I was born… I found out how I ended up in that radish basket." Po explained.
Mr. Ping blinked in surprise. "You did?"
Po nodded. "I know who I am."
"You do?" Mr. Ping asked, his voice straining slightly.
Po smiled. "... I'm your son."
With that, the two embraced in a tight loving hug. "I love you, dad." Po whispered.
Mr. Ping sniffled. "I love you too, son."
The two stayed like that for a few seconds before separating. "Ah! Delicious, fat radishes!" Mr. Ping exclaimed, picking one of the baskets up and heading towards the kitchen. "You're probably hungry, let me make you something to eat."
"What are you talking about? I'll cook!" Po jokingly protested, carrying the other basket as he patted the pig child on the head.
"No, I'll cook." Mr. Ping insisted.
"Dad…"
"It's the least I can do. You and your friends saved China."
"It's the least I can do, you raised me."
"Po…"
"Dad…"
"Po…"
"Okay," Po said with a grin, "let's both cook together."
"Together…" Mr. Ping smiled, "... no, I'll cook!"
Po and Mr. Ping laughed as they entered the kitchen. "Hey, uh, you don't mind if I have some of my friends over, right?" Po asked as they started chopping the vegetables.
"Oh of course not!" Mr. Ping exclaimed. "They are welcome here at any time!"
Right as he said that, Leo, Raph, Donnie, Mikey, Tigress, Viper, Crane, Monkey, Mantis, April, Casey, Usagi, Kintaro, and Shifu entered the restaurant as well.
After throwing the pig child a nice birthday party and sending him away, the group had been left to themselves, enjoying some nice bowls of noodles. Ox, Croc, and Mei Ling sadly weren't there as Ox and Croc had stayed in Gongmen City to attend to the citizens (and give their fallen comrade, Master Rhino, a proper funeral) while Mei Ling had gone back to instructing the students at the Lee Da Kung Fu Academy (though not before saying a heartfelt goodbye to a flustered Crane).
During that time, the Turtles, April, and Casey all confessed the truth about their origins, much to the shock of everyone (except for Shifu, Usagi and Kintaro since they already knew this).
"So… you mean to tell us your all from another dimension…" Po started.
"Yes." Leo stated.
"And that you live in a city called New York…" Tigress continued.
"Mm hm." Mikey nodded.
"And you four used to be regular turtles until your dad encountered the Kraang…" Viper added.
"Yep." Raph answered.
"And because of this stuff called 'mutagen', you became what you are now…" Monkey continued.
"Pretty much." Donnie shrugged.
"And you fought off psycho ninjas, other mutants, and aliens…" Crane added.
"Yeah." Casey said.
"And the four of you have been summoned to this world before, which is how you met Mr. Samurai Rabbit and that pug kiddo over there, because this blind evil wolf guy with a spear wanted you guys to kill them, but you stopped him and got sent back to your world only now it looks like you've been summoned back, is that right?" Mantis finished.
April shrugged. "Yeah, that pretty much sums it up. Me and Casey weren't there when the guys met Usagi and Kintaro, though."
Po and the Furious Five stared at the Turtles, April, and Casey for a good long moment before looking to Usagi and Kintaro, who both nodded, confirming that their story was true.
"You know, if you'd told us this before we fought off an army of alien brain creatures, we'd probably think you were all crazy." Mantis remarked.
The group all shared a collective laugh at Mantis' remark.
"So… you're not all mad at us for lying to you?" Donnie asked.
Viper gave a shrug (or at least, the snake equivalent of a shrug), "Not really." She said, "I mean, would anyone believe what you just said if you walked up to them and said, 'hey there, I'm from another dimension! You can totally believe me!'"
Once again, the group shared a good laugh.
"And you knew about this, Master?" Tigress asked Shifu.
"Not at first, no. Oogway did, but I did not." Shifu said. "But after I achieved inner peace, I came into contact through meditation with the spirit of a man named… Hamato Yoshi."
Leo, Raph, Donnie, Mikey, April, and Casey's eyes all widened in shock. "Master Splinter?!" They all exclaimed.
"You've talked to him?!" Raph questioned.
"When?!" Leo asked.
"What'd he say?!" Mikey also asked.
"Wait, wait, you can talk to the dead?!" Donnie questioned.
Shifu raised his hand to silence them. "Please, I understand you all have questions, which I will answer in time. However, Mr. Ping has made us a nice celebratory meal that we should all enjoy."
Reluctantly, the Turtles, April, and Casey calmed down and went back to eating their noodles with the Five.
Slurping down a bit of noodles, Tigress glanced at Po before scooting over next to him.
Po looked up, seeing the feline sitting right next to him. "Oh, hey, Ti." He said.
"Hello, Po." She replied calmly. "How are you feeling?"
Po shrugged slightly as he slurped down more noodles. "Fine, I guess." He said. "How about you?"
Tigress lightly rubbed her fur, which was still slightly burnt from taking the blow from the cannon. "None the worse for wear."
Po glanced down at her singed paw before lightly placing his paw on top of it. "So… why did you do it?" He asked. "Why'd you shove me out of the way of the blast?"
Tigress looked down, averting her eyes slightly. "Back at the factory, when Shen hit you with the cannon… I thought you were dead. We all did."
Po's eyes widened slightly. "Oh…" He said.
Tigress held in a shuddering breath, as if she were trying to hold back tears. "When I saw you 'die', I was enraged but also heartbroken. I had pretty much given up. But then… I saw you, Raphael, and Donatello on that roof, and felt my spirit return to me. And when I saw Shen aiming that cannon at you, I knew I couldn't let what happened at the factory happen again."
Po looked down as he tightened his grip slightly on Tigress' paw, making her look up at him. "Thanks, Tigress." He said with a small smile. "When the guys are busy… it's good to know that you have my back."
Tigress stared into the panda's jade eyes before she slowly smiled back. She then leaned in… and lightly kissed Po on the cheek.
Po's eyes widened as Tigress pulled away, a blush adorning his cheeks as he sat there stunned.
"Your welcome, Po." Tigress said, her own blush hidden just beneath her fur.
As the two sat there, enjoying their noodles, they were rather oblivious to the others watching with teasing smirks.
"She so likes him." Viper stated bluntly, a smirk on her and April's lips.
"Mm hmm." Mikey, Casey, and Monkey both nodded eagerly.
"Without a doubt." Crane said with a smile.
"Doubt it'll be long before they start going for each other." Raph remarked.
"So how much longer do you give it?" Mantis questioned.
Donnie pretended to ponder as he held his chin. "Not too much longer." He said.
Once again, the group shared a happy laugh while Leo watched them, shaking his head with a fond smile.
But out of the corner of his eye, Leo noticed Usagi and Kintaro stand up from their table, bowing in thanks before heading towards the entrance.
"You're both leaving?" Leo spoke up.
Usagi and Kintaro stopped, turning around to face the blue clad turtle.
"Yes." Usagi answered. "There are others, innocents, in need of my sword back in Japan."
"And I must return to my fellow monks at the Sky Buddha Temple." Kintaro added. "No doubt they think I've been gone far too long."
Leo nodded in understanding before walking up to them and bowing to them in a traditional Japanese fashion. "Thank you, for everything. And safe travels." He said.
Usagi and Kintaro bowed back. "Farewell, my brother. We wish you and your brothers luck." Usagi said as he and Kintaro turned to leave. "But should you ever need either of us, we will return. Goodbye, Leonardo-san."
Leo leaned against the entrance, watching as Usagi and Kintaro head out of the village and disappeared over the horizon before going back to join his friends.
Li Shan opened his eyes with a gasp, standing up in his green robes.
"My son is alive." He whispered.
Things looked bright for his future as he gazed out into the village of pandas awaiting him below.
