Chapter 13

Ari P.O.V.

When the day came for me to leave, I spent the morning over Vic's. I'd spent the night too, I just snuck back before dad woke up. I'd packed the day before, so I was free to spend the morning however I wanted, before dad took me to the airport in the afternoon.

Vic and I were sat in the living room, me on Vic's lap, with his arms encircling me. I had my head resting on his chest. We were just sitting there. Nothing needed to be said really. We just sat in silence, enjoying each others company.

"I have something for you." Vic said suddenly.

"You didn't have to." I said, burying my face in his chest.

"Well I did, and you're getting it."

I shifted so that I could see what Vic was doing as he reached over and grabbed a box. He handed it to me.

"Open it." Vic encouraged.

I opened it and gasped. "It's beautiful." I said.

'It' was a pendant. The top was the shape of a silver tiger head, which had a long blood red fang protruding from the bottom of it.

"Thank you." I said. I took it out of the box, and moved to put it on.

"Here, let me." Vic took it out of my hand and undid the chain. He put it round my neck and fastened it. "There." Our eyes locked, and we were kissing.

When he pulled back, I noticed the time. It was five past twelve. "I'll have to go soon." I said. Tears sprung to my eyes. "I don't want to go Vic."

"I don't want you to either." He said.

"Ask me to stay, and I will." It was all I needed. If he asked me to stay, I wouldn't go back.

"I want to, but… I cant. You'd regret it someday, always wondering what would have happened if you'd gone back. We'll be together again. And I'll drop by whenever possible."

"Promise?" I knew it sounded childish, but I needed to hear him say it.

"I promise kitten. And remember you only need to call, and I'll be there."

"I know. You have my email, right?"

"Yes, I do. When you get home, there'll be something there for you."

"You've already given me something though, and I haven't got you a single thing!"

"You've already given me everything I need." He said. "But you'll really like this. You're getting far to good to not have one of your own."

"What do you mean?"

"You'll have to wait and see." he chuckled. "And no peeking either." He tapped his forehead.

"But I want to know what it is now! Please Vic?" I begged.

"No, all I'm saying is, all the paperwork is sorted."

"That's mean." I said.

"Oh, I think you yelling at me is best saved for over the web cam kitten… at least then I'll be able to turn down the volume."

I slapped him on the arm and he snickered. "You know you'd be able to shut me up better now." I argued.

"I know, and. You. Are. Still. Going. To. Wait." At each pause Vic kissed me gently on my lips.

"All-right." I mumbled, giving in. the horn on my dads van honked. "I have to go."

Vic stood up, taking me with him. He set me on my feet and looked me straight in the eye. "You're my mate Arianwen." he said. "If I thought that I was never going to see you again, then I would have acted on my thoughts to kidnap you. Everything will work out Kitten."

"I know. I love you Victor."

"I love you too Arianwen."

He caught me round my waist and kissed me deeply. My arms wrapped round his neck of their own accord as the kiss deepened.

The van horn blared again and we reluctantly pulled apart.

"Don't forget to find somewhere to train and, I'll miss you."

"I wont, and I'll miss you too Vic."

We hugged, and I left the house and got into dads van. "All right?" dad asked me.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Shall we go then?"

"Sure, sure." He put the van in gear and drove off.

I was quiet the whole drive to the air port, only talking when I was saying goodbye to dad.

"I'm sorry we didn't get to spend as much time together as we'd hoped." Dad said.

"Yeah, me too, but we were both busy. You with work, and me with getting used to being a mutant. But what we did do was good. I'm glad to have come here."

"I'm glad you did to Ari. I'm going to miss you round the place."

"It was fun, I'll see you soon. I love you dad."

"I love you too kiddo, take care."

"You too, dad. Bye."

"Bye."

With that I went to the desk and checked in, and then travelled through customs to the duty-free to await my flight.

I just sat at a café, reading while I waited for my flight to be called, and thinking over how much my life had changed in such a small space of time. The last time I was waiting to catch a plane, I had been ill, and always feeling like I could be sick at any moment. But now, I was a mutant. I was strong and fast. And I had a mate.

The last time I had even had a boyfriend was in year seven, and that had been a disaster. But this time was different. This time it was definitely for good.

I heard my flight being called and I sighed, standing up. Back to sunny Wales. (Note sarcasm.) I mean I loved Wales. It was home, even if the part I lived in had one of the highest suicide rates in the country, but I loved Victor more.

I boarded the plane and sat down in my seat, noticing that the couple who were in the same row as me looked like they had smelt something that had gone off. I ignored them, did up my seat belt, and once again got my book out and began to read.

The journey was a smooth one, and I managed to get three quarters of the way through Brisinger. I got off the plane to rain. No surprises there. I took the bus with the other passengers to the terminal, went through all the necessary checks and got my bags, before I went to the terminal exit, where I was greeted by my mam.

"Hey ma." I said, hugging her. I always tended to sound Irish when I said mam, or ma. It was probably because I got the Irish of her mothers side of the family.

"Oh! Just look at you! Tell me, did you have fun, are you feeling better?"

"Yeah ma." I said. "I'll tell you all about it when we get home."

"Ok. Come on then, I went over to Ireland, to visit the girls, and when I was there, I picked up your favourite hot chocolate, I'll make you some when we get home."

"Sounds great ma." I said, smiling. She always knew how to cheer me up.
