Chapter 15.
Ari P.O.V.
The school term began a week after I returned to Wales, and as a result I didn't have enough time to have a proper conversation with my friends. This meant that they did not know about either me and Vic, or the bike. I guess I'd surprise them. I'd also get a surprise, apparently something had happened to Cari after she'd returned home, and she wanted to tell me in person.
That morning, I slipped on the leather trousers and placed my shirt tie and jumper on and put my school trousers into my bag. I ran downstairs and grabbed myself some cereal.
"Get a good nights sleep?" Mam asked.
"About two hours ma." I answered with a shake of my head.
"What's wrong Ari, you love your sleep, what's stopping you?"
"I guess I got accustomed to not sleeping alone." I shrugged. "The bed just feels empty."
"Would a single bed help, instead of a double?"
I shook my head. "I need Vic." I said. "Don't worry about it, I'll survive."
Mam looked at me in a calculating way, then she sighed and continued making her breakfast.
When I was finished, I grabbed my jacket and put it on, zipping it up before I quickly pulled my hair up into a careless bun, just to keep it in place under the helmet. I picked up my back pack and put it over both shoulders. "Right, I'm off." I said.
"Have a nice day."
"You too mam, enjoy work."
"Take care!" she called as I walked out, picking up my helmet and keys as I went.
"I will! See you later!" I said before I stepped outside.
I went to the garage and opened the door and smirked at the sight of my bike. Today was going to be so fun. I tucked my tail into my jacket as I put on the helmet. No one would guess it was me.
I got on the bike and put the keys in the ignition. I rode out of the garage and onto the road and I drove slowly out of the small town. When I say small town, I mean small. It has a town hall, a post office, a couple of small corner shops, one pub, and a café, where mam works. There is also only one small Primary school, which I had to pass before I could get out of the town and onto the main road. I definitely gave the parents a shock.
I drove down the motor way at seventy miles an hour, barely keeping within the speed limit.
The result was, I reached the school before the bus I normally caught did. It didn't matter to me though, none of my friends caught that bus, they either walked or caught a different one. I cruised into the sixth form parking lot, and parked in the first spot I came to. I noticed my four best friends watching from the path, with a load of other pupils, obviously curious.
I smiled to myself as I dismounted the bike and began walking over to them. I allowed my tail to reveal itself and I saw recognition flash over my friends faces as they grinned. I pulled off the helmet and heard a collective gasp from those who did not know who (or what) to expect. They started to murmur amongst themselves. As I continued to walk, my steps confident and sure. I smiled mischievously at the people that had gathered to gawk.
"Is something wrong?" I asked them. They just stared. I sighed in mock exasperation, and pinched the bridge of my nose. "Yes, I do have a bike, yes I do have the ears eyes and tail of a cat, and lets not forget the claws."
They all scurried off, save my friends, who were laughing. "That was easy." I said, before I found myself in a group hug.
"Err guys- I need to go to the toilet to change into my school trousers. And we need to catch up."
I was, mercifully released. "So, what did you want to tell me?" I asked Cari.
She turned to Mark. He handed her his lighter, he obviously still hadn't given up. I sighed slightly, but then my attention returned to my sister-in-all-but-blood, and watched as she put the naked flame to her palm, I stood stock still in shock, but broke out of my stupor when I smelt burning flesh. I grabbed the lighter out of her hand, and watched, astonished as the burn healed over and disappeared.
"You're not the only one who can heal, and you know you turn into all types of cats? Well I do the same with dogs and wolves." Cari explained. Now I took a good look at her, I noticed Cari had changed slightly. Her facial features were slightly more wolfish, and her eyes had the same predatory gleam that I saw when I looked into Vic's eyes, or into a mirror.
"Can you do anything else?" I asked shocked.
"I can teleport, albeit more smoothly than you, and I can read minds, at the same level as you, i'm not a mutant lighter though, but i can breathe under water."
I smiled. "Are you sure we weren't separated at birth?" I asked. "Come on, I need to change, and then we can go to our normal place to talk."
They all waited for me as I changed my trousers. I then left the toilets and placed my leathers and my helmet in my locker, so I wouldn't have to carry them round all day.
The five of us then quickly claimed our usual spot under one of the seven flights sets of stairs in the school. There was a radiator there, and it was rather isolated, leaving us free to talk about anything. I sat down and faced my friends, smiling.
Mark surveyed me with narrow eyes. I wasn't expecting what came out of his mouth next. "I thought I told you, you weren't to have any until you were thirty!"
I went red and started to splutter. "Wh- what?" I asked.
"Oh. My. God! You got laid!" Cari gasped.
"Umm… yeah?"
"So, details, who was he, how did you meet? Was he good in bed?" Faith asked.
I smiled sheepishly as I pulled m hair out of the bobble.
"It was Vic." I said.
"Who?" Paddy asked.
"Oh yeah, you don't know, do you? Saber." I said.
"I knew you thought he was good looking, but not that good looking!" Cari gasped.
"Well, it all sort of happened really quickly, and the first time we did it, he kind of left this." I pulled down my collar, which effectively hid the mark.
"That's a hell of a hickey." Paddy said.
"It's been there for weeks." I admitted.
"That's no hickey, he marked you as his mate." Faith said.
I nodded, grinning like a fool as my friends asked me about him, and also while Mark and Paddy plotted on how to kill Vic, should he ever hurt me.
