Chapter 19
Ari P.O.V
The final week of school past quickly, and soon it was the day that we were going to the club. We were all going to meet up at the place at eight, and, when we were done, we had booked rooms in a hotel, not to far away.
"So, where is this place again?"
"For the last time Ma, Swansea!" I replied from the bathroom, where I was pulling some of my hair up in the back, leaving the majority of it down. I put on a little bit of mascara, and then turned to my outfit, which was hanging on the door.
It consisted of a top and skirt, and was very gothic. The top was a halter neck and mostly dark purple velvet with some black velvet trim. The front had buttons, and the back was laced. The skirt was short, it only reached mid thigh, but it matched the top. Once again, it was mostly dark purple velvet but the top was black velvet with purple lace. I also had black fishnet tights to go with it and a deep purple velvet jacket. My boots were high heels, and thigh high, so not too much skin was exposed, but it would be enough to send Vic crazy.
I put all my clothes, minus my jacket, on and left the bathroom.
"You look stunning!" Mam said looking at me. "And I'm so glad you don't feel the cold so much, or I'd be worried."
"I'll be fine Ma." I said, just as Vic walked into the living room. He stopped in his tracks and I heard his breath catch in his throat, before I heard an appreciative growl escape him. Luckily, it was too low for mam to hear.
"I want a picture of you both together." Mam said.
My eyebrows knitted together. "Why ma? I mean it's not as if it's my prom again, that was weeks ago, remember?"
"Yes I remember, you looked brilliant then too. But I want a picture of you both together."
I looked at Vic in exasperation, and he shrugged his shoulders as if to say, "what can we do?"
"Fine." I said. I went to stand in front of Vic, who was still taller than me, even when I was in heels, and he wrapped his arms around my waist and rested his head on top of mine. I leaned back against his chest and felt the soft material of the black shirt he was wearing over a pair of dark jeans.
"Smile!" Ma said.
We did and she took the photo. I was momentarily blinded by the flash and when she lowered the camera I let out a small breath. I felt Vic laugh lightly.
"Where are the keys?" I asked.
"Here." Mam said, and she threw me her car keys. She was being nice enough to lend us her car for tonight. She chucked them towards us and Vic caught them effortlessly.
"See you tomorrow ma." I said, and I walked over and kissed her on the cheek.
She hugged me. "Have fun."
"We will." I walked towards the door with Vic, and was about to pick up my over night bag, when Vic beat me to it. I looked at him curiously, and he just smiled. I shook my head and slipped on my jacket. I followed Vic out the door, and to the car.
The drive over was spent in a comfortable silence. We didn't need to talk to fill in some non existent void, we just had to be together. We went to the hotel, checked in, and put the bags in our room.
At the club, we were greeted by Cari, Faith, Mark and Paddy. When we got in, we quickly claimed a table, and the guys went to get drinks for us.
"So, how have you and Victor been doing?" Cari asked.
"Good, though he's been acting a little odd all day. He keeps searching all his pockets, like he's lost something. And he keeps trying to say something at different moments, like last night, when we went out for a little while, but then, he just closes his mouth and shakes his head, as if he's re-thought what he was going to say."
Cari and Faith exchanged incredulous looks.
"What?" I asked, as they looked at me, mouths agape. "What?"
"Do you think that he may be plucking up the courage to… never mind, it's ridiculous." Cari said.
"No, what is it?" I insisted.
"If we're right, then you'll find out." Faith said. "And most likely tonight. But we'll leave the boys to see if they'll notice."
"Oh don't leave me hanging here!"
"No, and I'm humming Glory, Glory in my head, so don't try peaking." Cari said.
Faith nodded in agreement.
I sighed and shook my head, just as Vic, Paddy and Mark returned with the drinks.
I drunk a little of mine, before dragging Vic onto the floor to dance. We danced for a while, before heading back to the table. The others were all out on the dance floor, and I was about to sit down, when Vic stopped me.
"I want to talk to you, come on." He lead me to a secluded area of the club, where there were no people, and the music was quieter. He stood me directly in front of him. "Ari, kitten… I knew when I first caught hold of your scent, and laid eyes on you, that we'd be together forever. I'd find a way for us to be together, to make you mine, no matter what. And when you gave yourself to me, I was happier than I ever thought possible." He pulled a small box out of his jeans pocket and my breath caught. He opened it and a saw a diamond studded, white gold engagement ring. "Will you marry me?"
I was stunned, and it took me a moment to reply. "Oh, Vic, of course I will!" I answered, smiling.
He laughed in joy and picked me up, and spun me round, kissing me fiercely. When he pulled back, he slipped the ring onto my left ring finger. He kissed me again.
"Is this what you were trying to ask me since yesterday?" I asked.
"Yes." Vic admitted, a grin on his face.
My smile grew wider as I realised that the two girls that I viewed as my sisters had pieced together what he was trying to do.
"We'd probably better get back, before the others start to wonder if we've gone to the hotel." I said. "But lets not tell them, let's se if they notice."
"Your devious, you know that, don't you?" He said.
"I take that as a complement."
"What else do you take as a complement?" he asked, his arm around my shoulder as we walked back to the table.
"Insane, nut job, mad… you know, the usual."
"Those all mean the same thing."
"And I've been called them all at some point." I laughed.
As we approached the table, I noticed the others were there. The girls looked up as we approached, and their eyes immediately cantered in on the ring. Their smiles grew, and I could clearly hear their thoughts yelling their congratulations. The boys on the other hand, had no idea why they had just gotten so exited. This was going to be fun!
