Chapter 36

Ari P.O.V

"So, quite a distance between your jobs, don't you think?" I asked.

"What do you mean?" Cyclops asked.

"Well you teach, and you fight, allot of the time physically, for mutant rights and safety."

"Well, I guess you could say there was a gap, I suppose." Cyclops said.

"Wouldn't change that mind." Storm said. "I like the variety. And something interesting always happens when you have a bunch of mutant teenagers in the same place."

"I bet!" I said. "Teenage hormones plus a variety of mutant abilities. A potentially deadly mix."

"Why would you say that?" Jean asked.

"I'm just going to say Mark and Sion, and leave it there. Trust me, you don't want to hear what happened, and if Mark had had his abilities then, Sion wouldn't be hanging around anymore."

"A fight broke out?" Jean asked.

"Sion came onto Faith." I said. "Big no, no. So, who's up for a drink?"

"Go on then." Storm said. The others nodded.

"Tea? Or would you prefer sprite?"

A few minutes later, we all had a cup of tea in our hands. Vic and Toad had both turned down the offer.

When Cari and Logan returned, they were slightly rumpled, but had a couple of bags with them. When I walked past them, I sniffed, and noticed their scents were mixed together quite a bit more than they would've been if nothing had gone on. I raised an eyebrow at Cari, and she gave me a look that told me, to wait until later.

Cari and I quickly got to work on breakfast, making a selection of different things to go on the plates. There wasn't room for anyone else to help us, so we chased Storm and Jean out of the kitchen.

When we were done, we plated up, and put all but two of the plates on the table, along with cutlery. I grabbed another two sets of cutlery, and the last two plates of food, and took them out to Vic and Toad.

"You two gonna stay out here all morning?" I asked.

"Probably." Toad chuckled. "The last time we were in close proximity, I got hit by lightning. Be fair though, it was after I'd tried my best to knock her out of the running."

"We just don't get on." Vic said. "It's best if we don't do anything to aggravate each other, if we want to work together later on."

"Fine!" I said, raising my hands in defeat. "I'm heading back inside. I need to talk to Cari."

"Right Kitten." Vic said.

I leant down, and kissed him, before I wandered back inside for my breakfast.

I ate in silence, exchanging looks with Cari. It wasn't long until we resorted to telepathy.

What happened? I asked her.

Well, we were walking out of the shop, and we slipped into the alley to teleport back, and I noticed how close together we were. Next thing I know, we'd grabbed each other, I was against the wall, and we were kissing each other. Cari replied.

Did anything else happen, anything…more? I asked.

No. It wasn't exactly the place.

Are you going to?

I don't know! Maybe. It's hard to tell. I feel really attracted to him.

You mean like a pull?

Yeah.

I felt like that with Vic.

No way?

Yep. I mentally popped the 'p'. You may have found your mate. I grinned wickedly at her. We were attracting a few weird looks from the others, but we shrugged them off.

It was so fun to have a twin bond. And we weren't even biological twins!
