Chapter 41
Ari P.O.V
"Ari, Kitten, it's time to get up." I heard Vic say, as if from a very far distance. I also felt him shake me lightly.
"Don't wanna get up." I moaned. I was tired, and a bit sore from last night.
"Come on kitten, or we won't have breakfast before we leave." Vic coaxed.
I groaned, and stretched. I opened my eyes slowly. "Wha' time is it?" I asked groggily.
"Ten. Come on, get up. We both need a shower, and some food before we leave. I've let you sleep as long as possible."
I pushed myself up, and stretched again, before standing up. I stumbled a little, before catching myself. I hadn't been this tired since before my mutation had surfaced.
Vic came round the bed, and hugged me close. "I'm sorry I was so rough with you last night kitten."
"You don't need to apologise Vic. It was partially my fault anyway. I was mad at you, and wanted to push you to your limits. Guess I succeeded in that area." I said, returning the hug.
"Oh you certainly did that Kitten. Please don't do it again. I don't want to hurt you in any way at all."
"I kinda enjoyed your end reaction." I said. I swear, I heard him roll his eyes.
"Whatever you say kitten. Lets go have a shower."
"Alright, but lets not do anything else. I don't think my body has quite recovered yet."
I heard him chuckle, before I slipped from his arms, and into the bathroom.
The two of us didn't spend long in the shower, before we stepped out to dry off and get dressed.
We headed down to breakfast, where almost everyone else were already gathered.
"It seems we beat Cari and Logan down then." I observed.
"They probably won't be long." Vic said.
He was right. Not long after we'd started to eat, Cari and Logan entered the room, and helped themselves to the food in the breakfast buffet. They sat down on the table next to us.
"Walking a little stiff there, aren't ya, Cari?" I asked her in an oh-so-innocent tone.
"Oh shut up Tiger." She said before she started eating.
"Touché!" I laughed a little. "How you gonna tell them?"
"Who?"
"Oh you know. Nerys will know, and she'll have your hide if you don't tell her personally."
Cari chocked on the piece of bacon that she'd just put in her mouth. I reached over, and patted her on her back.
"Careful there Cari, can you heal, if there's something stopping your oxygen intake?" I asked.
"Did you have to bring up that topic?"
"What topic?" I asked mischievously.
"My parents." Cari growled out.
"At least I haven't dropped you in it. You had me dig my own grave, and then you pushed me in!"
"Oh yeah!" She said, in a bright but dreamy tone, that was a scarily good impression of Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter.
I rolled my eyes. She shrugged. "No clue." She said, answering my earlier question.
I returned to my food, shaking my head slightly. "Nutter." I said softly.
Twenty minutes later, all of us were in one of the two cars, heading back to the South Wales Valleys. Faith and Mark, were with me, Vic and Toad, and Paddy was with Cari and the X-Men.
The journey seemed to pass quickly, and soon, Mark and Faith were giving directions to Faith's, where we dropped them off after scouting the area a bit, and checking for the all clear.
When we got to my mam's, she opened the door as soon as we pulled up. The moment I stepped out of the car, and closed the door, I was enveloped in a tight hug.
"Hey ma." I said softly, as I returned the hug.
"Thank you for bringing her back to me." Mam said to Vic and Toad. "Why don't you both come in for a drink?" She asked. She didn't leave time for an argument, as she pulled me inside, leading Vic and Toad inside at the same time.
