Chapter 45
Ari P.O.V
I was very excited. I was practically bouncing in my seat. "Ari, please calm down." Cari moaned, as the flight attendants went through the procedure of what to do in the case of an emergency.
"Aren't you excited Cari?" I asked. "You get to see Logan again."
"Yeah, but I have a thirteen hour plane journey to go through, remember?"
"Oh yeah, you hate flying, don't you?" I suddenly remembered.
"I don't know why you're worrying, if this plane crashes, you and Ari will be the only ones likely to survive." Paddy said in a low voice so that the woman that the woman sitting next to him wouldn't hear.
We were in the middle of the row, with the four seats, and Faith and Mark were in the two next to the window. Cari was sat in between me and Paddy. I grabbed her book from her bag and put it in her lap.
"Here, read this, escape into the wacky world of the wizards and witches in Harry Potter, take your mind off things."
"It hurts my ears though."
"I know." I said gently. "You just have to live through it. In thirteen hours, less if we have a good wind pushing us forward, we'll be in America, and you'll be that much closer to seeing Logan."
Cari nodded, and opened the Order of the Phoenix. We were heading to America with the school for the exchange program. The other students were in various seats in the middle section of the plane, along with the teachers, so we were all quite close together. All the students were the mutants of the school, which came to a grand total of fifteen. How we got so many in one place was beyond me. Normally, a school got about five at a time apparently, at the most.
I leaned back in my seat, and closed my eyes. "Wake me when they come round with food and drinks." I said. With that, I drifted off.
For me, the journey passed quickly, only waking to have food, revise for a while, and to help Cari with her ears. She had always had problems with her ears when it came to flying. It had only gotten worse with her mutation, as they had gotten more sensitive. So, I used the technique her parents used to help her. I had her place her head on my shoulder, and I put my arm around her, before stroking the ear that wasn't pressed against my shoulder. I did this methodically as I revised, until Cari had drifted off to sleep. She was better off asleep when her ears were playing up. She was never a happy camper when they did. The problem had gotten worse, but it had also gotten better. Her ears had used to play up at anytime, making her partially deaf half the time, now, it was only while flying, but the pain was worse.
After the girl I viewed as my twin sister had drifted off to sleep, I went back to sleep as well, sleeping the rest of the journey away.
When the plane landed, I stood up, and stretched, before getting my carry on from the overhead compartment. I followed the other passengers off the plane, and into the airport. When we got to the airport, it was hell trying to get all the students bags, but we did it quick enough.
As we left to the arrivals, where Storm would apparently be waiting for us, I couldn't help but scan the crowds for Vic. I sighed. He wasn't there. He promised we could meet up this weekend, and as I wasn't eighteen yet, mam had signed the extra permission form that had been given to the five upper sixth students, that said their parents gave them permission to go do whatever after school hours. So I was cleared for Saturday and Sunday, and any other days.
Storm met us all, and we were led to the bus that would take us to Xaviers. Beside me, Cari was all but bouncing in excitement at seeing Logan once again.
