Chapter 50
Ari P.O.V
I dismounted the bike when Victor pulled up at the gates to the institute. I kissed him, before starting to walk to the gates. I felt his hand wrap round my wrist and he yanked me back towards him. Victor pressed me against his chest. "Remember Arianwen, you may have friends there, and Cari may be one of them, but you are not. You are one of us. You'll be back with me in the summer." He practically growled.
I rubbed my cheek against his. "You think they'll turn me against you? I don't intend to come back to America for anyone else, except you." I reassured him.
Victor met my lips in a searing kiss. One of his hands tangled wrapped in my hair, and I wrapped my arms round his neck. I felt Victor's tongue part my lips, and gain entry to my mouth. For a moment, our tongues battled for dominance, but he won. He tasted me for a while, before he brought my tongue into his mouth. I realised then that I never felt at home anywhere else than when I was with Victor.
I was breathless when we pulled apart. "I'm coming back to you Victor. When I'm with you I feel more at home than anywhere else. I'll never turn against you, or leave you."
"Good. I'll see you soon kitten."
"I love you Victor."
"And I you, Kitten. Now, get going, before I decide that I can't wait for summer to keep you all to myself."
I kissed him once more, before he released me and I walked in through the gates, and up to the mansion. I turned when I reached the door, in time to see Victor drive off. I sighed, and entered the building.
I quickly sought out my friends. Cari, Faith, Mark and Paddy were all in the Recreation room.
"Guys!" I said, my mood perking, when I saw them. I ran over to them, and gave each of them a hug.
"What happened?" I asked.
We all sat down, and they caught me up on what happened. Apparently, If Cari hadn't teleported the jet into the air, they may have all drowned, well, Logan and Cari would probably survived, but still… My ears were flat against my head the whole time. "But you're all ok?"
"We're fine." Faith said.
I let out a sigh of relief. "Hey, what's this about Pyro?"
"He left the jet, and joined up with Magneto." Mark said. "It's up to him though. If he feels he can do more helping the brotherhood, then that's fine."
"You're right." I said, nodding.
"You may as well be one of them as it is Ari. I mean, you're engaged to Sabertooth." Faith said, grinning.
There was a gasp, and the sound of a file hitting the floor. We looked round to see one of the students I hadn't met yet, staring at me. I cocked an eyebrow. "Take a picture. It'll last longer. And yes. You did hear right."
The kid picked up his file, and hurried off. I rolled my eyes. Typical. That seemed to be a similar reaction to everyone else who had found out who'd put the ring on my finger and marked me.
"So, what now?" I asked, leaning back in my seat.
I had my arm wrapped round Cari, when we walked out of the airport.
"How do you stand it, Tigris? I'm going to be an insomniac!" She moaned. We had just set foot back in Britain, and she was already complaining about her lack of being able to sleep with her mate.
"Unfortunately, that's just going to happen. I normally don't sleep, till I collapse from exhaustion."
"Thanks." She said sarcastically. "That's really going to help."
I shrugged. "Well, you could always try to find whatever those humans used to tranq us." I suggested.
She growled.
"What? I don't do anything to help. I just go with it. One day at a time. That's the key."
"I'm thinking of taking a gap year, instead of going to Uni next year."
"But… didn't you get an interview?"
She sighed. "I did, and I went to it. I just didn't get any further than that. I'm going to try in America."
"Well, at least I won't be the only one then." I said, smiling at her. "Will any of these Uni's be in New York, or close to that area?"
"Of course." She said.
"I'm sure you can do it Cari. You're top of the class. Don't let one failed interview get you down!"
"I wasn't going to." She said. "My lack of sleep will."
"Ahh, you can get that sorted out by the time you start applying, after all, don't applications have to be in late October, or something like that?"
"Yeah."
"So, you can go stay with Logan until then. Problem solved, that is, if he doesn't keep you up all night."
Cari bit her lip, smiling.
"I just want to know how no one noticed." I said. "I think that everyone else just thought the two of you were ignoring each other."
"Yeah well, I had an amazing room mate, who covered for me when I teleported over to his room for the night, ands back."
"Thanks Cari." I said.
"I meant Faith."
"Hey!" I said indignantly. Faith was in a fit of giggles. I crossed my arms, and pouted, making my eyes wide, wrapping my tail around my waist, and flattening my ears to my head.
"Oh, alright, you were great too!" She said. With that, we all loaded our things onto the bus, and then got on ourselves.
I once again buried myself in my revision. I was determined to get the grades I needed to secure a place in Sacramento University. Cari sat beside me, doing the exact same thing. Paddy was across from us, reading something on his kindle… wish I could be reading something other than this. I thought. Then I shook my head. Revise, Ari! I reminded myself.
I shut everything out, as we drove back home, across the boarder to Wales. When the bus arrived at our school, I saw loads of cars, of anxious parents waiting to pick up their kids. My mam was waiting for me, looking anxious. I said goodbye to my friends after I got my luggage, and went to see her.
"Hey ma. What's wrong?" I asked.
"I'll tell you in the car." She said.
I loaded my things into the boot, and got into the passenger seat. When we were driving away from the school, mam told me what was wrong.
"We didn't want to worry you when you were away, but Autumn's in hospital."
"What? What's wrong? Is she alright? What's happened?"
"She's in a coma. When everyone collapsed from that attack, thing… but the thing is, she went down with the mutants."
