Hey guys, here's the first chapter of my first ever Helluva Boss story: Helluva Spirit of Vengeance.
Moxxie ran through the forest, shotgun in hand. Having just killed the target of the client that hired him and co-workers, he returned to the house where the target's remaining family huddled up in the den. Moxxie cocked the gun.
"Don't move!" Moxxie told them with a glare, pointing the gun at them.
The father chuckled, "What're you going to do, little guy? Kill us?" he asked skeptically.
"I should. You people are monsters! But you should have a chance at life and a purpose. Look at your children, they have their whole futures ahead of them. You are going to face your crimes justly!" Moxxie said while grabbing the phone, "I will call your earthly authorities and they will make sure you are dealt with fairly. I'm handling this my way" he said while pressing a button that oddly turned the TV on. "Oh, shit. Uh, do you, uh… do you have a phone to summon 9-1-1?"
"Yeah, it's in the kitchen," the father pointed his thumb to the other room.
"Then… what is this for?" Moxxie looked at the device.
"It's a universal remote. Got it for the kids," the father said as his kids hugged him.
"Aww," Moxxie said in a touched tone.
A few minutes later, Moxxie regrouped with Blitzo and Mille at the portal.
"There he is. Have a good wank-off session, Moxxie?" Blitzo asked teasingly.
"Excuse me?" Moxxie looked at his boss with furrowed brows.
"Look, I don't care where you cum in the living world, just come to your job on time, alright?" Blitzo said while pinching the small demon's cheek, "See you at the office," he said while running through the portal, living Moxxie and Millie alone.
"You doing ok, sweetie?" Millie asked.
"Better now, honey" Moxxie reassured, "I think I just needed a minute to process."
"You have a good heart, honey," Millie touched his chest, and then caressed his cheek, "Just a fuzzy head" she rubbed her face against his before giving him a peck on the lips.
Millie soon stepped through the portal. Moxxie was about to follow soon after, when his attention was caught by police sirens and a helicopter. He turned around to see several police cars surrounding the house and a police-copter shining a light from above. The helicopter shot a missile at the house, blowing it to smithereens in a huge, fiery explosion… and the remaining family along with it.
Moxxie's jaw dropped in shock and disbelief at what he just saw. He was hit in the head by something soft. It was the head of the girl's stuffed teddy bear. Moxxie's eyes widened. He then felt Blitzo grab him by the neck and forcibly pull him through the portal.
Sometime later, the imps, along with their client, as well as their admittedly sexy hellhound Loona, were gathered in the office. They were celebrating the success of their job with a huge cake in the middle of the table. Everyone was excited… except for Moxxie, who had blank and somewhat guilty look on his face as he stared down.
"Oh, did you see my little Mox-Mox? He did it. Oh, Moxxie!" Millie cheered as she threw her arms around her husband in a tight hug.
"Well, here's to another mission accomplished," Blitzo said, "And Moxxie finally learned not to fuck up."
"And killing people isn't that big a deal if they tried to kill you back," Millie as she patted Moxxie's head.
"That's messed up… but I paid for it!" the client said as everyone, minus Moxxie shared a laugh.
"Yeah, fuck that family" Blitzo said.
Moxxie scooted out of his seat. The gun specialist proceeded to walk off.
"Moxxie? Don't you want some cake?" Millie asked, holding up a plate of cake for her husband.
"I'm going to go for a walk to clear my head. I need a few more minutes to process. I'll be right," Moxxie replied before stepping out of the room, leaving everyone else in the room to look between themselves.
Moxxie walked down the streets of Imp City, his hands in his pockets as he hung his head. He killed a family. He had indirectly and unintentionally killed a family. Granted, they were going to kill him, Millie and Blizo, so they probably had it coming... but it still didn't feel right to take their lives. Well, not the lives of the kids at least. Most demons and imps wouldn't feel guilty about taking a human's life, but Moxxie mostly wasn't like others.
"Why was I born like this?" Moxxie muttered to himself, "Why? Why can't I be better?!"
"What if I told you there was a way?" an anonymous voice said in the air. It made a chill run up the little imp's spine.
"What? Who said that?" Moxxie asked, looking around frantically.
"Behind you little imp," the voice said.
Moxxie shrieked as he turned around and saw a tall, humanoid demon that appeared to be part ram. He wore a black trench coat and walked around with a cane with a small, silver human skull at the top of it.
"Who... Who are you?" Moxxie asked.
"Many people mix me up with your King, even the prince of lust, but I have only gone by one name. Mephistopheles" the demon said, introduced himself with a toothy grin.
"Mephistopheles?" Moxxie repeated the name with some confusion, "You said you could help me? How? More importantly, why?" Moxxie asked.
"You have problems with your targets...with who is innocent and who is guilty am I wrong?" Mephistopheles asked.
"Uh... that would be correct" Moxxie said.
"What if I told you there was a way that I could help with that? And all I ask in return is a favor to be called in at a later time," Mephistopheles offered.
"What sort of favor?" Moxxie asked, raising an eyebrow.
"You won't have to worry about that for now. But with this power, imagine what you could do. Get respect from your in-laws, be the man your wife deserves, and most of all... make your boss, the only other person whose opinion matters to you, respect you even more than he already does," Mephistopheles told him, encouraging him with his words.
"Hmm..." Moxxie pondered it over.
All that from this one power? That did sound pretty good. Although, in the back of his mind, he had a feeling that said power would be too good to be true. Then again, it could probably also make him a better assassin and imp overall. Plus, more respect? It was too good to pass up.
"Ok, you've got yourself a deal" Moxxie said.
"Very good," Mephistopheles grinned.
The demon then pulled out a scroll and handed it to the small imp. Moxxie took the contract into his hands rolled it open, only to accidentally cut his thumb, a few drops of his blood splatting on the line where he would have signed his name.
"Oh, that'll do just fine," Mephistopheles said, taking the contract back and rolling it back up.
"So, what happens now?" Moxxie asked.
"This…" a black aura with flames surrounding it appeared on Mephistopheles' hand.
He pointed his hand at Moxxie, the aura entering the imp's body through his chest. Moxxie gasped, inhaling sharply.
"Endure it... my rider," Mephistopheles muttered in a whisper.
Once the aura finished going into Moxxie's body, the imp collapsed to one knee.
"Rider? What are you—" Moxxie looked up to see Mephistopheles had vanished, nowhere in sight. "What the?"
Moxxie looked around, still not seeing the demon anywhere. Ok, this was probably enough to clear his head. The imp then decided back to the office.
"I really hope what this guy gave me helps... Whatever it is" Moxxie said.
End of the first chapter. I know some of you comic book purists are going to say that Moxxie can obtain the power of the Ghost Rider since he's an imp/denizen of Hell, but I'm going to do it anyway. I had some help for this chapter from my friends Gamelover41592 and Clock King 10
Speaking of help, I could use a co-writer (or at least a beta reader) for this story, as well as my other Helluva Boss stories I have planned. If you're interested feel free to message me. Knowledge about Ghost Rider is necessary or at least helpful for this story.
If you have ideas for future chapter, say it in a review or message me.
