Chapter 58

Ari P.O.V

I was warm. Warmer than I should be seeing as the heating was off. I then registered the wait around my waist, and pressed against my back. I opened my eyes and blinked as my night vision kicked in. I turned my head so I could see who was behind me. I caught sight of a mane of blonde hair and smiled.

I turned round in Victors arms, and when I stopped moving, they tightened, drawing me closer to him. "How are you kitten?" he asked me.

"Fine. How'd it go?"

"Edith's on a plane to Genosia as we speak. Mort's the pilot and Mystique's guarding her. They'll make sure she's kept under lock and key until I go back to deal with her. You and the others don't have to worry about her anymore."

"Where did you find her?"

"She was getting close to Cari's house when I found her."

"She was going after Cari?"

"Yes, she was." Victor said. "Don't worry. She's not going to hurt anyone ever again."

I nodded. "She's taken so much from us Vic. Too much. I don't ever want her doing that to anyone else."

"And she wont. I promise you kitten. Besides, she has no where to run, even if she did somehow get away. Mort put the word out among mutants about her; just in case."

I snuggled closer to him. "I had a dream last night." I mumbled.

"What about, Kitten?" Victor asked, his cheek resting against the top of my head.

I took a deep breath, and let the dream spill out. I was barely holding back the tears when I'd finished. "He was such a beautiful little boy." I said quietly.

"I'm sorry I wasn't here for you kitten." Victor said.

"Don't be." I said. "You were doing what needed to be done." I wrapped my arm round his waist, and yawned.

"Go to sleep Kitten." He said, running a hand up and down my back, soothingly.

I made a non committal noise in the back of my throat, as I closed my eyes. Victor's chest started to rumble as I curled myself as close to him as possible, and I realised he was purring. Then, I drifted off to sleep.

No P.O.V

Victor watched as Arianwen fell to sleep as he purred. It was something he had only ever done since he'd met her. Victor didn't even know he could pur before he met his Kitten. He watched her sleep for a while, content that she was finally safe from any threats. Stryker would never turn up again, and Edith was on her way to a holding cell, if not already in one already, and his Kitten was safe. He had gotten rid of all threats that had come up so far, so he could relax, at least for a while, and he could help Arianwen through her recovery of their lost cub. Anger flared through him at the thought of the cub. Edit was going to pay when he got back to Genosia.

Edith sat alone as she contemplated her situation. She had been thrown in this dark, cold cell, with not just enough food to keep her going, and had no form of entertainment. She also knew it was no use to use her powers, as all those between her and freedom were mutants with strong powers, and/or fighting abilities. She'd managed to figure out what was going on though. By keeping her in the cold and dark, and keeping her hungry, they were putting her through a sort of psychological torture before she died. She shivered, and not because of the cold. They were going to kill her, and no one here was going to help her. From what she'd seen from the plane, she was on an island that was controlled by these mutants. She was trapped, and there would be no escape. The thought terrified her.
