A/N: Hello, everybody! Well, after nearly a year of writing other stories about one other television series, I am now ready to post my first-ever Seinfeld Fan Fic, focusing on a ship between two of the series' main characters, Jerry Seinfeld and Elaine Benes. This story will be based loosely on the 1975 motion picture, Mahogany, which starred Diana Ross and Billy Dee Williams. Yes, it will be Elaine in the Ms. Ross role, while Jerry will be in the Mr. Billy Dee role. However, I will do my level best to make this as much Seinfeldian as possible while staying true to the characters of Jerry and Elaine. In fact, as I watched the film in preparing to undertake this particular endeavor, I saw a lot of Seinfeld to be had in Mahogany. Thus, I truly look forward to writing and presenting this story to you as it begins to unfold here. Thus, I present the first chapter of Mamiwata to you at this time. I also want to thank the author, iloveromance, for her inspiration and influence to write this Seinfeld Fan Fic. And to Miss Bridget Sharpe, wherever you are, your Seinfeld Fan Fic helped fuel me here, as well! Well, without further ado, I present...Mamiwata! Enjoy! :)
PROLOGUE
The large crowd gathered inside of the auditorium has the lights dimmed on them, as six silhouettes stand out glowing against a dark background. Music is then queued as the images move around and about the stage.
The announcer introduced the statement.
"Ladies and gentlemen, at this time, Mamiwata presents…Africa Moves To The Beat!"
The models, all female, moved to the beat of a conga-laden African beat. The models appear in long gowns with their faces pained all shades as can be seen, going from the whitest ivory all the way through to the darkest shades of black which can be found. Soon, a dozen more models made their way onto the stage. Each of the models are dressed in gowns ranging from sky blue to coral red to Neptune gold to algae green to sandy white and pirate-shop brown.
The entire crowd went wild. The applause was relentless and without let up.
Then, after the models then finished working the walkway, they all stepped to the side to make way for one more woman to come on through.
This model had a long, black, long-sleeved gown on with sunray gold woven all over its front side.
This model was also holding a sun mask over its head.
The crowd applauded her loud, louder, loudly and loudest. The model held ground for a minute.
Then, as the applause held strong, the Final model pulled back the mask…to reveal…herself!
It was a woman.
Shorter than all of the models on stage…but no less of a large woman of stature in her own right!
This woman had a large smile on her face, cascading ringlet curls running down the sides of that face, with olive skin, holding out her arms to bring in, and appreciate, the applause.
This woman was…the face…and head of…Mamiwata!
Mamiwata, the new, biggest name in all of fashion.
Mamiwata, whose designs were about to them all over Europe—namely in London and Paris!
Mamiwata, who had them eating out of her hands in demand with her new career…after only being demanded for and of things from her bosses at her previous jobs.
Mamiwata, who, on her way off the stage, was prodded back on for a curtain call after the inaugural curtain had lowered.
Mamiwata, who gave the crowd what they wanted with that said curtain call.
Mamiwata, whose founder, as she came off the stage, was confronted by the promoter, who told her that she was such a success…Paris and London were looking to do business with her. For this, she had everything she ever wanted…money…fame…prestige…power…all now…because she had people everywhere…who loved her…and who she could share all her success with!
This woman, who was enjoying her newfound fame in her new life career…
…was given pause with that recent statement…
…thinking about where she really stood with herself…
…as she is now…
…after leaving her old life…
…and somebody she loved, in particular…
…behind in New York.
Where she had been known…as a hard-working woman with dreams and aspirations as anybody else.
A woman named…Elaine Benes.
