Chapter 67

Ari P.O.V

I stretched as I got off the sofa to go answer the door. Luce was there, tears running down her cheeks. There was also a bruise forming on her left cheek, and she had a large bag on her shoulder. Oh dear.

"Luce? What happened?" I asked.

"My parents found out I was a mutant. They kicked me out. Can I stay here? At least until I get a place of my own? Please?"

"Sure. Come on in." I stepped aside, and allowed her into the house. She came in, and I led her to the living room, where I sat her down, and gave her a hug. She started sobbing into my shoulder. "Shh, calm down. Everything's going to be fine, alright?" I assured.

"It's just- It hurts! How c-could t-they turn a-against me l-like that?" She sobbed.

"I don't know. And I'm sad to say that they did. But you just remember, I'm here for you, and so are the others. Even when I'm in America, you can always talk to me, and come visit at anytime you want, alright?"

She nodded, and sniffed.

"Oh, what happened?" Ma asked from the door, having just come downstairs.

"My parents threw me out for being a mutant." Luce sniffed. "Can I stay here for a while?"

"Of course! We'll help you in anyway possible!"

"Thank you Eloise." she sniffed.

"That's no problem Luce. Ari, go sought out the spare bedroom. I'll put some hot chocolate on."

"Kay ma." I said. I handed the remote to Luce. "Feel free to look at what's on."

She nodded, and I went upstairs to get the spare room sorted out for Luce. When I came downstairs, I found Luce watching an episode of Have I Got News For You.

"I didn't know you liked this, Luce." I said.

"Oh, I can change over if you like." She said.

"Nah. I love this show. Mock the Week should be on this channel soon too."

"I haven't watched that one." Luce said.

"You'll love it, trust me." I said. "It's really funny. Frankie Boyle is probably my favourite."

"I'll reserve judgement until I've seen it." She said.

I nodded, and Lena jumped up on the sofa, and climbed onto my lap, where she curled up. I scratched behind her ears, and she started to purr.

Luce really enjoyed Mock the Week. (I knew what I was getting her for her birthday.) The comedy shows managed to get her to smile, and laugh, even though her parents had just practically disowned her. That night, I let Victor know what was going on.

"If she want's, there's always room here at Genosia for mutants in need." Victor said.

"Right now, I think she's going to want to stay in Wales. Her and Paddy just got together. But I'll be sure to pass the message on."

"Alright Kitten." Victor said. "Take care of yourself. I want you coming back to me in one piece."

"I will Vic. Just make sure to look after yourself too." "Don't worry about me kitten. I'll be fine. You just take it easy."

"I had a dream last night." I said.

"The one about the child?"

"For once, no. It was just you, and me, and a bed."

I heard an appreciative growl from the other end of the line. "Don't do that to me kitten. I promised myself I wouldn't get acquainted with my right hand this time, so it's better when we're together again."

"I don't see why you're complaining, I'm the one who had to go through it!"

He chuckled. "Well, thankfully, there's not to long a gap left till we're together again."

"It's already felt like an age has gone by though."

"I know kitten. But we'll be together soon."

"Yeah. Love you."

"Love you too, kitten. I have to go."

"Bye Vic."

We both hung up, and I wandered to the computer room, to see what Luce was doing. There was something strange on the screen.

"Is that… a virus program?" I asked.

Luce laughed nervously. "I kinda make them in my spare time." She said.

"Wicked." I said. "Just don't let it get loose on this computer."

"I wont." She said, and with that, I dragged myself off to bed.
