Chapter 70
Ari P.O.V
I was in my room when my phone rang. The caller I.D told me it was Vic.
"Hey Vic." I said.
"Hey Kitten. How are you doing? Gotten into anymore fights lately?"
"I'm fine. A bit nervous about tomorrow, but excited about the day after. And no, I haven't." Exam results were coming out tomorrow, and I was moving the day after.
"I'm sure you've done brilliantly. And even if you have somehow failed, you're still coming over, and I'm still going to ride you long and hard into the bed."
"I'm looking forward to it." I said. "I can't wait to see you again Vic. To be with you."
"I can't wait either Kitten. And we won't be apart for so long again. I promise."
"Good. It's been so… painful." I whispered the last word. It was true. Being apart from him caused such a bad ache in my chest most of the time. Especially after the miscarriage.
"I know Kitten. But it'll go away when we're together again. I promise you, the moment you're back in my arms, it'll stop hurting."
"I know it will. And then I can get a good night sleep."
"You'll have to wait for that." He said, and I could practically hear his grin.
"Oh, I don't doubt that, Vic. But afterwards, I'm going to sleep like the dead."
"Definitely. Good luck for tomorrow, Kitten. I have to go. I'll see you soon, I love you."
"Love you too, Victor." I said, and I hung up.
My bedroom door opened, and Luce poked her head in. "Everyone else is here. Cari even roped Logan into it."
"Right." I said, standing up and I walked downstairs, to see everyone else walk into the house. Luce ran down the stairs, and hugged Paddy, before kissing him.
"What, were you separated for a month or something?" Mark asked, then something crossed his face, and he looked up at me. "What are you going to be like when you see Victor again?"
"Under him." I said, grinning at Mark. I saw him shiver, and shake his head. "No! Eww! Bad Ari! Bad Tigris! No! You do noot paint pictures in my head like that!" He said.
I shrugged, and walked the rest of the way down the stairs, to the living room. "Right, everyone grab some boxes, and take 'em upstairs. I already have two suitcases packed so I'm not relying on the boxes, but these still need to be packed."
I led the way back upstairs to my room.
Are you alright? Cari asked.
I'm fine.
No you're not.
Fine, I'm nervous.
What about?
Everything. Results. And moving. I mean, I'm leaving what I know.
But not entirely. I mean, we can all still get together, and you'll have Victor. Just like I'll have Logan.
Yeah, you're right. I admitted.
We all entered my room, and got to work packing and labelling boxes. It took a while, but we were done quicker than if it had been just me and mam.
"Hey, guys, you know you told me about the time you spent at that facility?" Luce asked.
"Yeah." Paddy said.
"Well, I pulled something off the internet. Hang on." She disappeared off to her room, and brought back a ring binder. She handed it to Paddy who skim read it, and then he passed it to Mark, who passed it on to Faith, who passed it to me. My eyebrows shot up when I read it. I passed it to Cari, and then she passed it to Logan.
"Shit." Logan said. "There are more of those facilities. And it looks like they aren't government funded."
"Thank God." Cari said. "The last thing mutants need is for the government to be legalising this sort of thing."
"At least now it's not government funded." I said.
"I'll pass it on to Chuck." Logan said, lifting the file up.
"Luce, how did you get the files?" Mark asked.
"I'm a good hacker."
"Nobody can trace it, right?" Paddy asked.
"I laid out quite a path. I also used a public internet café that had several computers, and I re-routed the signal to one of them. I then got out of there. I did it on a day the CCTV was down too."
"Good girl." I said, catching her in a headlock, and ruffling her hair.
"Well done Luce." Cari said. "These places need to be shut down." "I have two other copies." She said.
"Send one to the cops." Logan said. "Anonymously."
Luce nodded. "Of course." She said, agreeing. "And the other?"
Logan looked up at me.
"What?" I asked.
"You can pass one on to the Brotherhood."
"You mean try and get the file through airport security?"
"That's exactly what I mean. Place seperate pages among your books." He said, and his foot tapped the box that I knew most of my books were in.
I sighed. "Alright. I'll do it."
Logan nodded.
"Right, how anout we go out, and have a pint?" Mark suggested.
