Chapter 90

Ari P.O.V

Victor and I were both ecstatic over the fact that I was pregnant. We figured that that had been the reason behind my collapse when we'd reached the cabin, and the hunger pangs when I woke up. It would also account for the change in my scent. Victor was quick to get me back in the bedroom, to show me how happy he was that we were going to be parents. We fell asleep shortly after, but when I woke up, I found that Victor was sleeping with his head resting on my stomach.

I smiled at him, and ran my fingers through his hair. Victor stirred, and opened his eyes.

"Morning." I said, quietly.

"Morning kitten." He said. He kissed my stomach, and then moved up the bed, to kiss me. I felt Victors hands run along my body, caressing me gently as he kissed me. Victor pulled back, and smiled at me. "We're having a cub." He said.

I nodded. "Yes, we are." I responded, trailing my fingers over his cheek.

"What do we do now? I mean, do we just wait it out? Or go see a doctor of some sort?" Victor asked.

"Well, I think we should go to a clinic. Make sure there's nothing wrong with the baby. And to make sure the pregnancy test wasn't wrong."

Victor nodded, frowning. "Is that possible? That the test could be wrong?"

"Yes, but they've gotten so advanced now that they're practically as good as the ones doctors use."

Victor nodded. "Then we're going to see a doctor. The doctors clinic in town should know something."

"Lets get dressed then." I said, sitting up. Victor and I both grabbed clothes to put on, and headed out to the car. The drive into town took an hour, but when we reached the town, it was easy enough to find the doctors clinic. We entered, and asked at reception about where we could go for a check up for an early pregnancy. She told us to take a seat, that there was a doctor here today doing check ups, and his schedule wasn't too full, so he should be able to squeeze us in.

It was another hour before my name was called. I smiled when it was Arianwen Creed, not Arianwen Evans. Victor and I stood, and headed for the room that the doctor was using. I knocked on the door.

"Come in." A voice said.

Victor and I walked in. The doctor looked to be in his late forties, and looked up at me and Victor, and his expression turned to one of disdain.

"Take a seat." He said, motioning to the bed. I hopped up on it, and Victor stood beside me, holding my hand. "Now, you want to check if your pregnant?" He asked.

"Yeah. I've used a pregnancy test that I bought, but we want to make sure." I said. This doctor put me on edge. I didn't like him.

He nodded. "Well, that's easily arranged." He said.

Soon, I was going through another test, and waiting for the results. The doctor read them out. "It's positive. You are definitely pregnant. Now, I can refer you to another clinic."

"What for?" Victor asked.

"Well, she's still well within the time limit to legally have the abortion."

"Abortion?" I shrieked. The doctor looked taken aback.

"Well, I assumed-"

"You don't assume anything when it comes to my mate, frail." Victor growled. "We only came here to make sure that in nine months, we're going to be parents. We should have left the moment we saw you. It's not hard to tell that you hate mutants." Victor wrapped his arm round my waist, and pulled me off the table, keeping me tight to his side. "You're lucky I haven't ripped your throat out for that suggestion."

"Now, there's no need to make threats!" The doctor said, standing straight. He was trying to make himself look brave, but I could smell the fear coming off him in waves. "I was just stating that-"

He was cut off by a large growl from Victor. "I'm this close to ripping your throat from your body." He held his thumb and forefinger about a millimetre apart. "Arianwen's not going to have an abortion. She will give birth to this cub, and it'll be even better, because we'll know that people like you are going to be pissed off at a child being born to two mutants, meaning the child will also be a mutant. Better yet, a feral." Victor smirked.

The doctor seemed flustered. I worked out from under Victor's arm, reached out, and slapped the doctor, making sure my claws were extended. I hoped the wound would get infected.

The doctor gasped, and he stumbled backwards, clutching at his bleeding cheek. My eyes were narrowed at the human. "What the fuck did you think you were doing, suggesting I have an abortion?" I growled.

"Freaks like you shouldn't be allowed to reproduce. It only makes the world more dangerous for normal people." He spat.

A new scent reached my nose, I looked down at my claws, and saw something clear coating them. I raised them to my nose, and sniffed. "That's odd. That's never happened before." I said. Victor took my hand in his, scraped a bit of the clear liquid off with one of his claws, and licked it.

"I think you've developed some sort of venom, Kitten, at least, when you want to use it."

"And all I was thinking was that I hoped his wound would get infected." I shrugged. Then I grinned at the human, who looked horrified. "Bye!" I said, taking note that his cheek already looked raw and inflamed, before I turned on my heel, and Victor and I exited the room. We walked out of the clinic, and to the jeep.

We had just gotten out of the town, when I let it come out. "How dare he! How dare he try and presume we wanted to kill our child!"

"You got him good Kitten, I'll give you that." Victor said, he looked across to me, and I saw a hint of gold in his eyes. I leant over, and wrapped my arms round his waist, hugging him. Victor's arm wrapped round me, and brought me tightly to his side. "No one will hurt our little one, Kitten. The cub is going to be fine. In nine months, we'll have a cub to care for and protect. I promise you, that's what's going to happen. Just promise me something, Kitten."

"What?"

"While you're pregnant, and especially when you start to show, you let me do anything to protect you and our cub. I don't want you to lose another cub."

"Alright Victor." I said, nodding.

He chuckled. "Victor took a back seat half a minute ago, Kitten."

I looked up, and blue eyes met solid gold. "It still stands." I said. He nodded, accepting my promise to allow him to do anything to protect me and our child.

"Good." He said, and we spent the remainder of the journey in silence.
