Chapter 92
Ari P.O.V
As the months went by, I became even more excited at the prospect of becoming a mother. I was also helping Cari plan her wedding. She and Logan had decided that they wanted it in early April. Cari had asked me to be her maid of honour, and I was ecstatic. By the time the wedding came round, I would be almost due, so I had to get a dress that I would still be able to fit into at the time. I helped Cari plan her wedding, just as she had helped me with mine. It was shaping up perfectly.
Victor was very attentive. He'd always get me anything if I needed it, even if I insisted I could get it myself. There were many mornings where I woke up, and Victor's head was resting on my stomach, as well as his hand. He came with me to every scan, and whenever he went away on a job, he made sure that someone stayed with me. It was usually Mort or Mystique, but it was sometimes Pyro too. Cari and Logan visited often, seeing as Victor and Logan had reconciled and could now be in the same room for any length of time without wanting to kill each other. Cari was excited about being an aunt to say the least. Logan always made jokes about the child being born with six, six, six, tattooed on the back of its head. That did cause a couple of fights with Victor, but they were only playful. And Cari and I slapped him across the back of the head each time he said a joke when we were in ear shot. But I could tell he was excited about becoming an Uncle.
I began to show at around the four month mark, and that was when Victor really began getting protective. He'd growl at anyone who even looked at me in the wrong way. There was the one guy who'd yelled that mutants shouldn't be allowed to have children at me. Unluckily for him, Victor had been with me. The next day it had been on the news that the guy had been found ripped apart by what seemed to be a pack of wild dogs.
I went to every normal scan, and at five months, the nurse offered to tell us the gender of the baby. We decided not to hear what we were having. We wanted it to be a surprise. I could see some distinguishing things on the scan though.
"The cub's going to look like you, Kitten." Victor said.
"That may only be because of the ears and tail. The rest could be all you." I said.
"Well, the cub will have some of your best features." He replied, as we left the clinic.
"Apart from my ears and tail, what are my best features to you?"
"Everything about you actually." He said. "It's just good that our cub will definitely be a mutant. And that people will be able to see it. I mean, in a crowd of children, with their back turned, people will know which one's ours. But your best features to me- either your eyes- or your lips. But all of you is so beautiful."
I smiled up at him, and he leant down and kissed me deeply, his arm snaked round my waist and pulled me into him. I rapped my arms round his neck, and tangled my hands in his mane of hair. I felt his hard cock rubbing against me and moaned into him. Victor pulled back, and stepped away. "Gotta be careful. Don't want to harm the cub." He said.
Victor's hand brushed against my stomach, before we turned and headed for the jeep. That was the bad part about being pregnant. The lack of sex. There were many times that we'd come very close, but then had to take a cold shower, because we didn't want to take any chances. But, we were dealing with it.
By the time Cari's and Logan's wedding came round, my stomach was huge, but the rest of me was remarkably, the same size as normal. I'd bought a long sleeved, knee length pale blue dress, and thankfully, it fitted just fine. I was going to wear my hair in a bun. I spent the night before the wedding in Cari's house, with Faith and Luce too, like they had the night before mine. Cari had much the same arrangements for getting ready as I had, except she had different beauticians and hairdressers.
"Everything's going to be fine, isn't it? Everything's going to go off without a hitch?" She asked me. I could hear the shake in her voice.
I took her hands in mine, and squeezed them reassuringly. "Everything's going to be fine. I promise, nothing will go wrong. Now, let's go get you dressed, yeah?"
She nodded, and Nerys and I followed Cari to her room, where we helped her get into her dress and shoes. The dress was mostly white, but had dark red fading to lighter red trim, that had red curls coming down part of the bodies and up the skirt, that looked like vines. The bodice was corseted and at the waist, their was a red belt. The material of the skirt looked light and floaty, while the bodice was made from silk. Cari's shoes were stiletto heels that were mostly white, but with some red beading. I helped her stand, while Nerys helped her slip into her shoes. Cari was also wearing a ruby tear drop necklace, and her Italian charm bracelet, which had one blue charm on it, among the others.
"Something borrowed." Cari muttered.
"I have just the thing!" I said, noting that a lock of Cari's hair had come loose. I rummaged in my bag, and pulled out a single hair pin, that had a diamond stud on the end.
"Here, let me." I stepped behind her, and fastened the hair in place. "There." I handed her the bouquet of red lilies and roses, and led her to the mirror in her room. She gasped when she saw herself.
"You look beautiful." Nerys said, hugging her daughter.
"Stunning. He won't be able to say his vows." I teased.
"Oh, don't!" She said, and I laughed.
"Relax! Everything will be fine." I said.
Soon, we were all on our way to the church, Mark and Paddy having come by to wish Cari luck before hand. At the church, we all headed inside, and sat down. I saw Logan and Victor both look round as we entered. I winked and smiled at Logan and Smiled at Victor.
Soon enough, Cari was walking down the isle. I could see Logan looked absolutely stunned. He couldn't take his eyes off her. I also caught sight of a flash of gold in the dark brown.
Cari took his hand, and the service began. There were quite a few more people, at Cari's wedding than at mine. Her immediate family was large, and she also had several others that she knew there and got on well with. And I think that quite a lot of people from Xaviers had turned up for Logan too.
Just like Victor and I, Logan and Cari had written their own vows.
"Cari, I first saw you when you were in quite a bit of danger, I knew immediately that I would do anything to protect you from danger, and I still will. I'm different when I'm with you. Things that seemed a big deal before, didn't when you came into my life. I want to see you happy, and I want to share the rest of my life, however long, with you."
"Logan, I wasn't entirely sure what to think about you when we first met, but then, when you turned up at that site to help out, I knew that I wanted to be with you. Since then, my feelings for you have only grown stronger. I can't wait for our future together." Cari said, smiling widely.
Victor handed the rings to the priest, and the final vows were exchanged and so were the rings. Logan and Cari signed the register, and then so did Victor and I as witnesses. I ignored the twinges in my stomach. I'd had several Braxton Hicks contractions in the past.
We all went out to the front of the church for photographs, and the photographer had just finished when a really sharp pain hit me, and I felt water trickle down my leg.
"Victor." I said, clutching his arm. "We aren't gonna make it to the reception."
"Kitten, it's only across the street." He said smiling at me.
Just then a very painful wave hit and I doubled over. "WELL IF YOU WANT THIS BABY TO COME IN A HOTEL, THEN WE'LL GO!" I yelled out, drawing everyone else's attention.
Pandemonium broke out.
