CHAPTER 6- TAPPING THAT
El's POV
"Mike, grab the textbook and put it over your issue." I said with a sense of urgency in my voice.
Mike quickly moved and managed to get the book over his boner right as my dad approached the door.
"Oh, this new friend is a boy in my teenage daughters room sitting on her bed." My dad said giving Mike a look that said get off the bed or die.
"Dad were just studying because remember you said I should get a tutor." I said giving him a knowing look since he's the sole reason I spoke to Mike.
"Ok, just leave the door open." My dad said giving Mike a very dirty look.
"Uhh the door was open when you got here Dad." I said looking at him motioning for him to leave.
"Oh right, well no funny business I'll be popping in and out." My dad said making me blush and Mike tense up even more if that was possible.
No one POV
Hopper walked out of the room to head into his own. Mike and El actually tried to study and they succeeded at doing that for at least fifteen minutes.
"Ok El what was that earlier?" Mike asked still remembering the feeling of her lips on his.
"What do you want it to be?" El said kind of nervous at what the answer would be.
"Well, I was thinking maybe I could uh you know take you on a date." Mike said stuttering through his words.
"Listen Mike, I really like you and I really did enjoy making out with you, but I don't think it'd do either of us any good to publicly date. So how about we just be good friends with benefits?" El asked really hoping she didn't hurt his feelings.
"How would it be bad?" Mike asked actually hurt that El was embarrassed by him.
"Mike, your friends hate me and the girls would vote me off the squad if they found out I was dating you." El said trying to explain.
"Ok how about this let's try to do the friends with benefits thing while also trying to get to know each other and our friends. Once we feel like everyone's on good terms then let's date." Mike said really hoping El would agree.
El's POV
I thought about Mike's proposition for a few seconds and while I would love to be spared the awkwardness of interacting with Mike's friends, I really like him so I just nodded.
A few days had gone by since Mike and I had made our agreement and we would have our "study" sessions every day after school.
"So, the team's first game is this Friday, maybe you and your friends want to come." I said really hoping Mike would say yes.
"Uhh, I don't know El high school sporting events aren't exactly our scene." Mike said making me feel really disappointed.
"Please, if you guys come, I can interact with them and we can have our own fun afterwards." I said trying to convince him with the only thing we do nowadays.
"Fine, for the record though everybody's pretty cool, but you'll need some magic to make Max warm up to you in just a few minutes." Mike said with an amused yet serious face.
Mike and I spent another hour studying and making out before he left to go to his own house for dinner.
"Dammit Mike, you gave me a fucking hickey." I said worried about what my father might say.
"Sorry, it's just your skin is my new favorite snack." Mike said with a sly grin.
"Ok, I think it's time to call it a night, so you and your cheesy comments can leave." I said with an amused grin of my own.
Mike had left when I was just getting up to go and cook, I noticed his sweater he had taken off because my dad insists on the heat being on full blast. Ughh dad's and thermostats, anyways I need to go bring Mike his sweater.
Mike's POV
I was walking out of El's house when I saw four familiar faces headed towards my house. I tried to rush back in but I had been caught.
"Mike what the hell are you doing at El Hoppers house?" Lucas asked with a look of confusion.
Before I could come up with a lie El swung the door open and walked out with my sweater in her hand.
"Mike, you left your swea-." El froze when she noticed we were not alone.
"HA! I knew Mike was tapping that, you owe me ten bucks Max." Dustin said being the usual idiot that he was.
"You two want to explain yourselves?" Will asked trying to clear the air.
"Well, we-." El started
"I'll tell you guys what's happening, at some point El somehow became attracted to Slenderman over here and the rest is history." Dustin was still being an idiot.
"Dustin please kindly shut the fuck up." I said now really embarrassed by the comment.
I looked around to see the reactions of everyone, Dustin seemed proud, Lucas also seemed proud, Will seemed happy I found someone, and well Max was pissed.
"You know Dustin, I think you summed it up very well." El said playing along.
"Please don't egg him on." Will said with a light chuckle.
"In all seriousness, how long Mike? Dustin asked unable to hold in his excitement.
"Just a week." I said to answer his question.
El's POV
This simple exchange between Mike and Dustin just felt so natural and right and I really hoped they'd accept into their circle
"A FUCKING WEEK AND YOU'RE AT THIRD BASE!" Dustin practically screamed.
"Dustin what the fuck, she's right there knock it off." Lucas said hitting Dustin in the arm.
"All I'm saying is the entire right side of her neck is covered in hickey's, Mike is the man!" Dustin said ignoring Lucas.
I blushed at the comment forgetting that I just had to get on Mike about the hickeys.
"Ok guys, let's just head to my place and spare El and I the embarrassment, I'll order pizza." Mike said with Dustin simultaneously running towards his house.
I really didn't want them to leave, I was enjoying feeling a part of a friend group so I took a risk.
"Can I come to?" I asked hoping I didn't sound too desperate.
There was sheer silence, not even Mike spoke up to give me an answer.
"Of course, you can." Will finally said with a warm smile, I think me and him are going to be good friends.
"Yeah, we'd love to have a hot babe in the party." Dustin said in a playful tone.
"What the hell Dustin, Max is right there." Mike said after seeing Max tense up being unusually quiet.
"You know we don't look at Max like that, she's like a sister and she's spoken for." Dustin responded to Mike.
"What, so you don't think El is spoken for, because were definitely a thing." Mike said making me blush.
We began the short walk to Mike's house with him and Dustin bickering the entire short way there. Everybody looked annoyed but I loved every second of it. In this moment I had real genuine friends and it felt great.
