It was meal time at the Kasbah. Karou sat dejectedly by herself as always. Of course, she always sat dejected and alone at meal time since no one wanted to be her friend since her boyfriend had committed genocide against the whole chimera race and everyone blamed her for it. But today, she was particularly sad since said boyfriend (really, ex-boyfriend) had starred in her dream. How could she hate him when he said such sweet things to her in dreams? Now she felt depressed about that. She shook her head. Oh, Akiva, when will I get over you?

Much to her surprise Ten, her enemy and servant of the chimeras' leader walked over and sat down across from her.

"Ten? What the hell? You never eat with me. You normally eat with Thiago."

"Me and Thiago had a fight. And I just…I just don't want to deal with anyone right now."

"Oh? You're not the only one with boy trouble."

Ten looked at her oddly, her wolf eyes narrowing.

"I dreamed about him. I guess I'm not over him yet." Karou answered the unspoken question.
Ten rolled her eyes, truly a feat since she had a wolf's head for a face and wolves can't technically roll their eyes.

"By the Sisters, I hope you realize that that man played you like a drum."

"Wait, what?" Karou asked. "He did not play me!"
"Girl, you got played!" Ten said. "He said all the lovey-dovey stuff to get inside your underpants."
"Shut up! You don't know him like I do!"
"I know men." She replied. She threw a longing glance at Thiago who was pompously eating, as he did everything pompously. "I do understand why you did it you know, Madri-I'm sorry you prefer Karou these days right? Well, Karou, we've all done stupid things for love. Stupid, idiotic things like pining after your boss for years, brushing his hair, cooking his meals, being his shoulder to cry on when his dad died, praying to Ellai above that he'll one day freaking notice you and what does he do? He never does. He just wants to talk about work. So you get drunk on grasswine and confess your love to him. And what does he say? 'I'll never love you that way, but I hope we can still be friends.'" She threw her hands up. "It's so freaking frustrating!"
"Thiago's a great leader, but he's really just a terrible person."

Ten glared at her. "It's all your fault you know!"

"How is it my fault?" Karou asked.

"He's still pining after you! Haven't you noticed our little love triangle…wait square? I'm pining after him, he's pining after you and you're still hung up on that…that…jerk!" Ten slammed the table she was so upset by it all.
"Need a thesaurus, Ten? I could come up with tons of more creative insults. Like pathetic, whining loser with rage issues who needs to go get a life."

"How could you even still be in love with him…after all he did…" Ten shuddered.

"He did it for me, though." Karou pointed out. "Kind of romantic if you think about it."

"Yes, I can just imagine that thought process. Hmm, how should I honor my dead lover's memory? I know, I'll murder her whole family and enslave her entire race!"

"Once again, Ten, you don't know him like I do. He wasn't in a good place after he lost me."
"How do you know he wasn't in a great place? How do you betraying you wasn't his ultimate goal?" She asked. "It worked out rather well for the seraphs didn't it?" She tapped her head. "That's what I would do. Seduce a seraph, take one for the team so to speak since I find them revolting, then find out everything I could use against him."

Karou was silenced. It made sense in some ways and it echoed her secret suspicions. She quickly shook her head. "It was real, Ten, what me and Akiva had. I want to believe that."

"Believe what you want." Ten said in a tone suggesting she was helplessly naïve. She kept shooting longing glances at Thiago. Karou kept glancing down at her half-drank glass.

"Men." They both muttered.
