Chapter III

As Vader began herding the small boy out of the hold, he began having flashbacks to his younger days. To that fateful day on Christophsis when he accepted Ahsoka as his padawan, to all the days training her, to the missions they'd completed together, to the day she eventually left the Jedi Order, to the day he found her lightsaber on that snow covered moon.

Luke's innocent opinions and unending well of questions reminded him so much of his former apprentice. He had failed Ahsoka — the Order had failed her — but he refused to fail Luke.

He would find a way to hide him from Palpatine. He would shelter Luke from the emperor's lies, no matter the cost.

He knew it would take time for Luke to open up to him, but he would be patient — for the first time in his life. He would be there for Luke, he would be the person for Luke that he had needed when he was Luke's age, and he would shelter him from the true horrors of the Sith.

As Vader pondered how to keep Luke safe and hidden, he also began to contemplate how to train the boy as well. He didn't want to corrupt the kid enough for him to be a dark side user, so he would have to become a Jedi, or more powerful alternative.

A true Jedi, Luke would never become. Vader would see to that. But instead, Vader would train him to be what the Jedi should have been. Compassionate, strong, able to make tough decisions in favor of the greater good but not to the detriment of the people it would benefit, able to truly love unconditionally, and able to truly lead, not by the power of the Force, but by its wisdom.

Luke would be strong where Anakin hadn't been. Luke would be able to resist the dark side.

What's this?? Two chapters in one day?? Absolute insanity. I got motivated to write for once so I figured I'd just try and chuck it out before I lose it or the time to write it. So in other words, get ready for a third chapter today too.

I know this one is really short (who am I kidding, the other two were crazy short too) but I'm hoping to start writing some longer ones after the next one since I'll finally be getting into the part that I actually wanted to write. My schedule is too hectic for an actual schedule for this story, but I'll try and upload when I get the chance.
