Author's Note-I decided to write this story after watching the latest storylines unfold on GH regarding Trina, Spencer and Rory. This story is following/matching up with current stories on the show and is not connected to the other Sprina Fan Fic that I am currently writing. I am currently enjoying what is going on with Trina/Spencer/Rory and think she has chemistry with both guys. This will be a Rorina/Sprina Fan fic. Trina will also be written based off of TA's version. I enjoyed SM's version of Trina and in my other current fan fic Trina is based off of SM's portrayal. Though, this one will be in the style of TA's. I enjoy her version of Trina as well and will feature the current dynamic she has with both Spencer/Rory. Disclaimer-I do not own any of these characters, though there may be some OC's. I hope people enjoy this story. :)

Distractions

Trina Robinson lets out quiet sigh as she sits at the counter at Kelly's. She had stopped by to pick up some takeout for her best friend Josslyn Jacks who she was about to meet up with in their dorm room. Josslyn had been having an eventful past few months and was currently dealing with a custody hearing involving her nephew and the child's maternal grandmother Nina Reeves. Trina had just texted her and offered to bring her home some food, so they could further unwind and recap the day's events together. Trina had decided to pick up one of Joss's favorite dishes from Kelly's. While she was waiting on her friend's food, she started thinking more about her day.

After a tense day at the gallery clashing with Spencer Cassadine, Trina had decided to go the Metro Court Pool to unwind and let off steam. There she had encountered officer Rory Cabrera, who had been waiting for her. Rory had initially invited Trina to spend the evening with him earlier in the day, but she had been hesitant due to her current legal situation. Trina had been accused of recording and posting a sex tape of Joss and her other best friend Cameron Webber and there were many potential ramifications for those accusations. Including a possible prison sentence. Trina was concerned that hanging out with Rory would not be a good look for him and she did not want to jeopardize his career. But Rory had eased her fears and she had decided to join him at the pool, allowing herself a chance to take a breather and enjoy the company of the handsome newcomer who had suddenly appeared in her life.

Trina smiles at the counter as she thinks back to her conversation with Rory at the pool.

Flashback-

"You know you have a smile that could light up a whole room. And in this case the outside as well..." Rory remarks as him and Trina look at each other.

"Thank you..." Trina responds warmly. "I appreciate the compliments and of course the company..." She remarks looking over him admiringly. Trina found Rory very attractive. She also liked what she had seen of his personality so far. He seemed like a personable, respectful, responsible young man. Someone who appeared to be quite the opposite of Spencer Cassadine, the other young man who had made big waves in Trina's life and had started turning it upside down the minute she met him.

Rory had returned Trina's smile after she expressed her gratitude.

"Not a problem." He remarked. "And I hope to bring a smile to your face a lot more often..." He told her. They smiled at each other again and laid back on their lounges, talking and enjoying each other's company. Trina had felt at peace with Rory, it was the best she had felt in a while. Trina was glad that she had met up with Rory at the pool and was interested in getting to know the young officer more.

"Hey Trina…" A familiar voice interrupts her thoughts as someone comes up behind the counter at Kelly's.

"Hey Cam…" Trina snaps out of her daze and looks up into the eyes of her good friend Cameron Webber.

"I didn't know you were working tonight…" Trina remarks, surprised to see him. She rests her hands on the counter and looks over her friend, observing his demeanor. "I thought Spencer said that you two both had the night off tonight." She remarks giving Cam a curious look.

"We do, but I just came in to check on some things before I head home and check on my brothers…." Cam responds. He sighs heavily, a sad look coming across his face. Trina notices this and frowns.

"Cam what's the matter?" She asks concerned at her friend's sullen attitude. Trina could tell when something was eating away at Cam.

"It's my mom…" Cam begins. He closes his eyes and rubs at his temple thinking about the situation with his mother Elizabeth Webber. Elizabeth had recently checked into a mental health facility after several strange occurrences had happened. Elizabeth initially thought someone was messing with her regarding her deceased husband Franco. She also thought he may have been trying to reach out to her from the afterlife. After some investigating and dealing with more stressful events, it had been discovered that she was sleepwalking and been the one responsible for the incidents that had occurred.

Including setting her husband's studio on fire. Elizabeth had been alarmed and worried by her behavior and after talking with Dr. Kevin Collins and Cam's grandmother Laura Collins decided it was best for her to go to Shadybrook to be further evaluated. She wanted to see if there was a deeper root for the cause of her behavior. Elizabeth had talked this decision over with them and her family, and they supported it. Though Cam's mother going away was taking a toll on him. However, he vowed to be strong and look out for his younger brothers Jake and Aiden during her absence.

"Did Spencer say anything to you about her situation?" Cam probes.

"Not really…" Trina shakes her head. "He made a bit of entrance at the gallery earlier today…" Trina comments thinking back to Spencer knocking over one of the sculptures, interrupting her conversation with Rory.

"But…" She shakes her head. "No, he really did not mention it much. He seemed…." Her voice trails off as she thinks back to Spencer's behavior. "Standoffish, aloof, arrogant, moody…" She notes. She gives Cam a knowing look. "You know how he can get Cam…"

"I do know how he can get…" Cam nods in understanding. "Spencer…" He pauses thinking of how to choose his words. "Has a lot on his plate right now…" He remarks as a conversation of him and Spencer discussing Spencer's plan to clear Trina's name goes through his mind.

"Don't we all these days?" Trina answers. "I mean I have this whole mess with my upcoming trial coming up…" She remarks sighing heavily. "Joss has that ordeal with the hearing with Nina over her nephew and you…" She looks at Cam. "What's going on with your mother again Cam?" She asks.

Cam frowns and then tells her the story about Elizabeth.

"Wow…" Trina remarks surprised. "Cam, I don't know what to say…"

"Yeah, neither did I at first…" Cam responds. "Neither did mom probably." He speculates. "But apparently, it is true, and she is the one that did all of those things… those strange and dangerous things…" Cam remarks making a gesture with his hands, as he thinks again of all of the incidents that Elizabeth had been involved in.

"Yeah, that is odd…" Trina agrees. "But she's getting help and trying to get to the root of her issues?" She asks.

Cam nods. "Yeah, she's going away for a while to Shadybrook, and I promised her I would look after the boys." Cam reveals. "And Dr. Finn agreed to keep an eye on things for her as well…"

"Well, that's good…" Trina answers reaching out and putting her hand on Cam's arm supportively. "It is good, Cam and it will get better…" She assures him. "It will. And you remember you have Joss and me and the rest of your family, we will help you get through this…" She promises him.

"Thanks Trina." Cam responds gratefully. He gives her a smile and then his expression turns serious. "But I know you have a lot on your plate too, with this accusation against you regarding the sex tape and the Title IX investigation and of course your trial…"

"Yes, I have a very, very heavy plate indeed." She agrees. "But I can always support a friend in need." She responds warmly. "And you are my friend Cam." She tells him. "And I appreciate you and Joss sticking by side during this turbulent time in my life." She smiles. "It's nice to have you in my corner."

Cam nods. "We know you would never violate or hurt us like that." Cam responds. "We all know who the real culprit is in this situation is…"

Trina frowns after he makes that statement. "Yes Esme…." She answers with a bit of anger in her voice. "Spencer's sick, twisted, demented, witch of a girlfriend that he's in love with."

"Yes, she is all of that, though…" Cam acknowledges. "But…" He pauses thinking back to his conversations with Spencer regarding, Esme, Trina, and Spencer's plan. "They may not be as rock solid as you think…" He informs her.

"Oh, they are rock solid alright…" Trina disagrees, resting her hand on the counter, and shaking her head. "They are rock solid, and Spencer's head is as hard as a rock…" She comments frustrated. "He really can't see how terrible that girl is, it's so…infuriating…" She expresses strongly.

"Spencer might be more perceptive than you think…" Cam responds cryptically.

"Oh, I doubt it." Trina says. "I mean if so, then why is he with Esme?" She questions annoyed. "I mean trouble seems to follow that girl around and Spencer is right behind her allowing himself to drown in it…" She states. "She's a big reason why he went to prison and may be the reason I go as well…" Trina remarks a concerned look coming across her face.

"You're not going to jail Trina…" Cam assures her. "Joss and I will do everything in our power to make sure that doesn't happen." He remarks. "And so will my grandpa Scotty and your parents and Ava and there are so many people that care about you…" He states firmly. "You have a lot of people that care about you including protectors you don't even know about…" He reveals. "People that will go to great lengths and great measures to prove your innocence. Risking it all for you…" He states thinking again of Spencer and his risky plan. "I mean you have people that are risking their very happiness for you right now as we speak…"

"Risking their happiness?" Trina asks, becoming a bit stumped by Cam's comments. "Who would that be?" She asks.

"Um…" Cam responds realizing he had said too much.

"Oh, Cam don't tell me this situation is putting a strain on you and Joss's relationship?" Trina asks. "The last thing I would want is to create more trouble for you two…" She remarks sincerely.

"You're not creating any trouble for us." Cam assures her. "You're not the one who is putting stress on our relationship, so don't worry about that…"

"But everything you two are dealing with regarding the sex tape and the fallout…" Trina gestures towards him as she lists things off. "And trying to help clear my name and now this stuff with your mom and Joss's family and I…" Trina looks down for a moment thinking and then back up at Cam, her eyes widening. "Don't want to be a burden to you…"

"You are definitely not a burden to us." Cam responds. "And you will beat this." He promises her. "You have protectors in all corners. You will see in time." He promises.

"I hope so…" Trina states. "And things will get better with your mother, you'll see." The two friends smile at each other and then Cam raises his eyebrows a bit when he sees a familiar face come through the door of the restaurant. Trina follows his eyes and makes a face when she sees who it is. She looks down and then turns back to the counter.

"Am I interrupting something here?" Spencer Cassadine asks. He looks at Cam and then at Trina his eyes resting on her admiringly.

Trina makes a face and tries not to roll her eyes. "I think you know the answer to that…" She responds coolly, still a bit upset with Spencer after the way their conversation had ended earlier in the day.

"I'm not…" Spencer declares. He smirks and then sits down at the counter besides Trina, turning his attention to her. He noticed that she was dressed differently than she was at the gallery. She had on a dress and her hair was styled a bit differently in an updo. She looked beautiful to him but then she looked beautiful to him at the gallery in her other outfit. She always looked good to him. His eyes rest on her again for a moment and she turns to face him. They lock eyes for a moment and then Trina turns away still annoyed with him.

"You changed your outfit." Spencer notes. "This was not the ensemble you were wearing earlier today at the gallery…" He remarks.

"Well, I wanted to change my ensemble…" Trina answers turning to look at him again. "I don't see why that is any of your concern…"

"It's not my concern, it's my observation." Spencer responds firmly. "I have no problem with what you are wearing, I think you look radiant…" Spencer states, giving her another smile. "Though you could never look bad…" He comments. "Or am I not allowed to say that to you…?" He questions looking her up and down again admiringly and then back into her eyes.

Trina feels her pulse racing after he makes those comments, but she decides to conceal his effect on her.

"I'm not going to get in the way of free speech." She responds tersely. "You can say what you want." She gestures towards him. "It looks like the cat may not have your tongue today…" She remarks. "Though it seems to have had your tongue at other times…"

"Good…" Spencer remarks amused. "Because I have very strong opinions about things and when it comes down to it, I'm not going to let anyone stand in the way of me expressing what I think and feel…"

Cam raises his eyebrow as he watches his two friends interact with each other, the tension and angst between them rising to the surface once again. Cam suspected that both of his friends had strong feelings for each other. He believed that Spencer had very deep feelings for Trina and wondered if Trina reciprocated his feelings. Things were a bit complicated right now between Spencer and Trina, especially due to Trina's arrest and upcoming trial and her believing that Spencer had taken Esme's side over hers in that situation. Trina had no idea that Spencer was working alongside Cam to help prove her innocence.

Spencer wanted to keep up appearances with Esme to get closer to her and get the evidence he needed to exonerate Trina. In the meantime, this ruse was putting a strain on Trina's friendship with Spencer and was causing her to doubt him and any feelings he may have had for her. Cam hoped that they could clear Trina's name soon, to ease her worries and give his friends a shot of being happy together.

"Well by all means let nothing stand in your way then…" Trina responds looking at him again. "Like you said you have very strong opinions about things." She states. "As evidenced in your trust in Esme who is the center of your universe…" She remarks a hint of bitterness in her tone.

"Trina you are wrong about that…" Spencer counters, and shakes his head.

"What am I wrong about?" Trina demands. "You do think Esme is the center of your universe which is why you take her side in everything…" She states. "Speaking of Esme why aren't you with the love of your life right now?" She asks.

"Because I wanted to come in here and talk with Cam about something but then I saw you two and well I became distracted by the sight of you…" Spencer answers bluntly.

"Distracted by me? How am I a distraction?" Trina asks gesturing towards herself. "I just came here to pick up some take out for Joss because I know she's dealing with the stuff regarding the hearing for her nephew." Trina explains. "I've had a long day between work at the gallery and then meeting up with Rory at the pool..."

Spencer frowns when Trina mentions meeting up with Officer Cabrera. "Wait a minute, you met up with that guy after work?" He asks becoming a bit upset at the thought of Trina and Rory spending more time together. He looks her over again. "Is that why you changed clothes, so you could go on date with Officer whatever his name is...?" He shakes his head in disdain at the thought of Trina and Rory together.

Trina shakes her head. "Not that it's any of your business, but I went to the pool to relax after our interaction at the gallery and yes I saw Rory." She confirms. She nods. "And yes, we hung out..." She admits. "And we talked and had drinks and lounged by the pool..." She reveals. "He even saved a lounge for me, before I arrived..."

"He saved a lounge for you?" Spencer asks his voice rising. He gestures towards her. "How presumptuous of him to think that he could just bask in your presence like that."

Trina turns her head to the side and looks at Spencer after he makes that comment. "He's an optimist, Spencer." She states firmly. "His words." She nods. "And you know what?" She remarks. "I appreciate that and his attitude." She declares. "It's nice to be around someone positive for a change..." She comments. "Someone who actually wants to make me feel better and take my mind off of this trying time in my life right now." She adds. "And it is trying Spencer and it's nice to have someone who just wants to be with me and make me feel better..." She remarks. "So yeah, I hung out with Rory and got to know him a little better. And I enjoyed it." Trina remarks defiantly. "And maybe we will do it again..." She speculates.

"Do it again?" Spencer asks incredulously. "Again? You want to date this guy...?" He questions. "Trina he's not right for you..." He finds himself blurting out.

"And how would you know that?" Trina counters. "He seems like a good person." She remarks. "He's an officer of the law and likes to follow the rules. That's something we both have in common." She states knowingly.

"Okay but... maybe he has skeletons in his closet..." Spencer speculates trying to dissuade her from pursuing a romance with Rory.

"I don't think so..." Trina shakes her head. "I have a good feeling about him..."

"Okay well maybe he doesn't, but maybe he will end up boring you or something..." Spencer responds. "I mean what did you two even talk about?" He inquires. "Police procedures...?" He scoffs. "The ins and outs of Rules and Regulations...Laaaws..." Spencer rolls his eyes. "He probably knows about laws in all fifty states..." He remarks sarcastically. He leans towards Trina. "I mean do you really want to hear about some random law in Anchorage Alaska?" He asks. "Because I'm sure Officer by the book knows some." He gestures towards her. "Come on Trina that sort of thing will get old quickly." He shakes his head. "Especially for a woman like you. You need to be engaged and What's his name won't be able to do that properly."

"Rory and I were engaged with each other at the pool, and I enjoyed it." Trina states firmly, brushing off Spencer's insults. "We talked about different things like our goals, and career plans, our interests..." She reveals. "I would like to get to know more about him and his background and perhaps his family..."

"Slow down..." Spencer interjects. "You just met this guy and you're already talking about learning more about his family..." Spencer shakes his head. "Trina you barely know the guy..."

"Well, that could change." Trina responds. "And change could be a good thing. And besides..." She remarks looking Spencer over. "I myself could use a distraction... from all that is going on right now with my life..." She tells him. "A good one..." She sighs and then looks away from him behind Cam at the counter. "Ah there is the order I placed for Joss..." She comments as the waitress comes up with her takeout order. She smiles at her and they talk for a moment while Trina pays for the food. The waitress leaves and Trina grabs the bag and looks at Cam and Spencer.

"I should head out of here..." She remarks. "It's getting late, and I want to get this food to Joss while it's still warm. Today was a big day for her family, I believe the verdict may have come down in the hearing for her nephew." She remarks. "And I want to be there for her in case it's unwelcoming news." She states. "We've all been getting a lot of that lately." She sighs. "I guess I will see you later..." She remarks.

"Bye Trina..." Cam tells her. "And things will get better." He assures her.

"They will get better for you too Cam." Trina responds giving him a smile. "Have faith..." She turns to look at Spencer.

"I guess I will see you later as well Spencer..." She tells him. "I know you probably are anxious to get home to that girlfriend of yours..." She sighs as she looks down again thinking.

"I'm not anxious to get home to Esme... Trina..." Spencer denies a bit frustrated by how their conversation had just gone.

"You always seem to be anxious to be around that one, even more so lately for some reason." Trina states. "But like you said you know what you want..." She looks at Spencer and their eyes meet again. Trina looks away again. "And that's that..."

"Trina..." Spencer voice trails off, unsure of what to say.

"Good night, I will see you guys later." Trina replies. She nods and then takes her bag of food and walks away. Spencer looks after her and then turns to Cam with a worried expression on his face.

"I really need to expedite this plan..." Spencer declares leaning towards Cam. "Esme needs to be exposed and Trina needs to be cleared..."

"Right so that Trina doesn't go to jail and have her whole collegiate experience ruined..."

"Yes of course..." Spencer agrees. "I don't want her life to be ruined." He declares firmly. "I don't want her to lose all that she's worked so hard for, and I don't want..." He pauses thinking.

"You don't want...?" Cam prompts.

"I don't want to lose her to prison." Spencer declares firmly. "And I don't..." He pauses thinking for a moment about Trina's opinions about Rory, giving Cam a very serious look. "And I don't want to lose her to that guy..." He shakes his head. "Not to him or to any other guy..." He looks at Cam and the two young men nod quietly, a shared understanding between them.

"So we have to move and move fast..." Spencer declares.

"What else do you have in mind?" Cam asks curiously.

Spencer looks at him and begins to speak when he notices his phone buzzing. He reaches in and pulls it out of his pocket. He frowns when he sees who has called him.

"Who is that?" Cam asks curiously.

"Esme..." Spencer shakes his head. "She's wondering where I am at..." He frowns. "I can't wait until this charade with her is finally over."

"We all want things to be over with her and this mess she's created. Including and especially Trina." Cam nods.

"Yeah, Trina..." Spencer nods. "She is the one that is most important in all of this..." A thoughtful look comes across Spencer's face. "Hey I have a favor to ask you?" He begins. "And it's something that may be beneficial to the both of us given the current predicaments we are both in..."

"What's that?" Cam asks curiously. He listens as Spencer asks his favor. Spencer is relieved when Cam agrees. Spencer was glad that he was one step closer to executing his other plan, getting back in Trina's good graces and showing he was a worthy option for her. Spencer knew he had his work cut out for him, but he was determined to accomplish his missions and make life easier for the woman he cared deeply for. Spencer and Cam talk a little more in the restaurant and then bid each other good night. Spencer takes a deep breath on his way out, dreading going home to Esme, but feeling he had to stay the course to free the girl he really wanted to be with.
