Chapter 4:
"I could have defeated you, y'know?" Mako walked a good distance ahead of her. Constantly he looked back as if she were going to put a knife in his back. She mocked him like a five year old and kicked at the gravel that crunched under their boots. Then Mako was knocked over. Flint didn't have time to call out for him before she was kicked in the back. She fell forward painfully. A large hand planted itself on the back of her neck to keep her head down.
"I knew you were trouble," Flint inwardly cursed as she recognized the voice. "When you walked in, your eyes darted around suspiciously. You never did say where you stayed between the time you escaped and the time you got in contact with Blair." She lifted like a doll to her feet and faced the masked Equalist named Swift. He was a large man with astounding agility that baffled her.
"Make it swift," she did her best damsel in distress face as the boulder, unknown to Swift, soured through the air. It hit him proudly in the back of his huge head. Unfortunately Flint underestimated how hard this giant's head would be.
The boulder did minimal damage, but Flint was thrown to the side as Swift faced his attacker. Bolin stood, eyes narrowed and with a snarling. If this weren't a serious situation Flint might have laughed, but Bolin's green eyes darted from her to Swift as if analyzing the situation. That is when the sizable boulders started flying with Swift dodging easily. Before Bolin could release his last one, Swift punched him so hard he flew a few feet into the air.
Flint finally got her senses together. Mako was handling his own against the slight Equalist that tackled him. So Flint chose to help Bolin. She ran and jumped on Swift's back, covering his eyes. He quickly threw her over his head and she landed next to Bolin. "Flint." His voice wasn't angry when he said her name. If they were not going to be killed at that moment, she would have cried, hugged him, and apologized all in one breath. As it was she only had one thing to say, "Bolin, keep him distracted." She rolled before a heavy boot landed in the spot her head had been.
She reached Mako as he was finishing off the Equalist. He was about to rush to Bolin, but Flint grabbed his arm. "Help me out," he tried to tug away but she held firm, "please."
Bolin was throwing up walls which Swift bypassed without stopping his charge. He was just really quick. That was until strips of flame started crisscrossing in front of Bolin. Then they materialized everywhere until all of his exits were blocked by these flaming ropes. Swift stopped suddenly as a spherical cage of flame encircled him. Mako and Flint were each concentrating on their trapped pray. The ropes dissolved, but the sphere continued blazing with a very sweaty Swift inside. His frustrated yell was muffled by the heat.
Bolin finished the job by trapping the huge man in a body suit of rock. "There," he dusted off his hands and stuck out his tongue. Seconds after he finished he was jumped on by a familiar figure. With a scary familiarity she found herself crying and laughing in relief while wiping her tears half on her sleeve and his back. Mako tugged his collar uncomfortably.
"You will get your turn," she sniffled.
Asami and Korra made it in time to see Flint slide from Bolin's arms. Immediately Korra swept Flint off her feet with water and used the ground to entrap her hands and feet. "Ouch," was all that Flint was able to get out before her eyes closed.
