The Easter Gerbil

A/N: As requested… hehe!

Kara was amazed. Like full on, mouth dropped open in astonishment, amazed. Earth had so many incredible and magical things that she didn't know what to think about them.

"But... ok... Santa Claus I get. I mean who wouldn't want presents at Christmas but... a mouse at Easter, Alex?

"It's not a mouse," Alex replied with a shrug as she thumbed through a magazine. "It's a gerbil. It's like a mouse but... not a mouse."

Kara nodded and went to their computer to look up what a gerbil looked like. "Wow, it's really tiny. How in Rao's name does it carry all the chocolate for the children?" Alex bit her bottom lip and then pursed them as she watched her sister-she-never-wanted's brow furrow. "I mean... Santa Claus has the reindeer to help him. What does the Easter Gerbil have?"

"Technically," the older Danvers added. "The reindeer don't help Santa. They just pull the sleigh. He does all the work on his own. Like the Gerbil."

"Does the Gerbil have superhuman speed like me?" the kryptonian asked, scratching her head. "I mean... I could probably deliver chocolate to all the kids in the world in one night. Wait... oh my Rao... I mean God... is Santa a kryptonian?" She dropped her hand onto Alex's arm. "Oh my God, is Clark Santa Claus?"

"Maybe he's the Easter Gerbil," Alex sniggered.

Kara rolled her eyes. "Even kryptonians can't like... shapeshift into animals."

Alex sniggered again. "Right, because that would be too much like a fairy tale, right?"

"Right," the blonde replied seriously. "Can the Easter Gerbil fly?"

The brunette shrugged. "I'm not sure. No one has ever seen it. We just know it exists because it leaves chocolate behind."

"I see," the younger Danvers nodded. "Maybe I should stay awake on Easter Eve and see if I can see him?"

Alex nodded seriously in return. "You should definitely do that," she solemnly advised. "Imagine if you were the first person to ever get a glimpse of him."

"That'd be cool," Kara said happily. "I WILL do that. I might try it with Santa Claus first, since Christmas is closer than Easter."

"Knock yourself out, Kid," the eldest Danvers replied. "Just don't forget to leave out the milk and cookies."

"Santa likes milk and cookies?" Kara was amazed again.

"Yeah... as many as you can give," Alex said enthusiastically. "And the Easter B.. uh... Gerbil... loves carrots. You'd better start saving your allowance money now."

"You're right!" Kara ran out of the room and bounded down the stairs before her sister could stop her. "ELIZA! I need allowance money for stuff for Santa and the Easter Gerbil."

Alex sniggered again but her face sobered when her mother yelled up the stairs.

"ALEXANDRA DANVERS, GET YOUR BUTT DOWN HERE!"

"Uh oh."
