I found the pairing of Yun/Sunahara to be cute, and worthy of exploring. The extra at the end of Vol. 2 does say they're married. Yamase tells Saki that "Mommy forced him". "Forcing him" came out like this. Enjoy!
Oh, and this is written for Christopher Scott's "Autumn Leaves" challenge. I hope you like it Chris!
A/N: It's fast-paced, I know. It sounded better in my head, you know how it is! Hopefully my pacing doesn't really deter from the fic.
Rena and Tomoya were on a blissful honeymoon ("for real this time" giggled Yun) leaving their best friends on the main island of Honshu. Yamase made some smart-aleck comment about what the lovebirds might possibly be up to…and received a solid smack from the tall and silent Sunahara for his troubles. The younger whined pitifully, gained no remorse from his assailant, and resorted to using studying as an escape route.
Sunahara intended to go home as well but found his hand in the firm grasp of a black-haired beauty.
"Let's go for a walk" Yun beamed, and the brunette could not find in himself to turn her down. She led him to the forest (reasonably close by) and the man followed willingly
Later~
The trees of their beautiful country were flushed in a myriad of red and gold; the afternoon sun illuminating the sight to an almost magical degree. Yun was staring in awe at this wonder of nature, and Sunahara…well he was looking at her. The normally reserved man found her big brown eyes to be a far prettier site than the sheltered clearing they stood in.
Soon, leaves began to fall. Red maple leaves, the yellow fan shaped leaves of the ginko, and the mixed leaves of a rather young katsura. Some fell on Yun's hair (rather artistically the brunette couldn't stop himself from thinking) but most fell on the ground around them, adding to an already fairly thick blanket.
The lady stepped back to get a better look at the sunlight's spectacle, and promptly slipped, landing in an accumulated pile of leaves behind her. She giggled.
"Oops!" Sunahara smiled in spite of himself and dropped down next to her. Boldly, Yun lay her head on her companion's shoulder. He made no moves to push her off and the two sat like that, watching the leaves drift down together. After a while, Yun spoke.
"You know what I'd like?"
"Mmm?" was the reply, the man sweeping some damp leaves off his legs.
"I'd like it if we were married." Sunahara abruptly quit, staring at her in shock.
"…what?"
"I'd like it if we were married" the black-haired woman repeated slowly, as though the male hadn't heard her properly. The brunette couldn't muster out a response.
"Why?" he finally managed.
"Well…" she tapped her chin thoughtfully. "You're quiet, caring, and you'd make a good husband. You'd make a good father too."
Sunahara choked, his behavior drastically different from the strong-and-silent type persona. Yun gave him a worried look.
"You don't want to?"
"N-no, that's not it. It's just, I-" As the brunette scrambled for a decent response, it dawned on him.
He really did want this. Somewhere deep, he wanted it very much. Yun was over-excitable at times, and perhaps a bit bossy (she meant well though) and Sunahara found he liked her perfectly well like that. In another uncharacteristic behavior, the man leaned over and planted a kiss on her unsuspecting lips. He smiled at his new fiancee and her unorthodox proposal.
"You know...I think I'd like that to."
