As I near the garage I hear new voices.

"What about the part where you're his girlfriend?" I hear a male voice ask.

"Oh, we're just friends." Bella says and I try to hold my laugh in.

Burn! I think to myself as I get closer.

"Ooh…Burn." I hear another male voice say and the voice sounds familiar.

"I said she's a girl and a friend." Jacob explains as I enter. Jacob looks over to me and I keep my face neutral. The boys' backs are turned to me, so they don't see me come in.

"Embry, you remember him making that distinction?" the shorter boy says.

"Nope." The taller boy says, and a smile spread across my face as I recognize him. Embry Call! My cousin's friend from La Push.

"Embry?" I ask and both boys turn to me. I hug Embry and he is surprised to see me.

He hugs be back tightly and says. "Dee? What are you doing here? Where is Jules?"

"In Denver. Sorry to disappoint but it's just me." I say jokingly.

"This is Dee?" Jacob interrupts us. We both turn to look at him.

"Quil, Jake—this is Diana Allen. Officially known as Jules' cousin." Embry explains.

"Quil Ateara the fifth. Pleasure to make your acquaintance miss Allen." Quil says as he grabs my hand to kiss the back of it. I blush and nod my head taking my hand back. Jacob snorts and Embry hits Quil on the back of his head. Quil rubs his head and punches Embry on the arm.

In my peripheral vision, I see Bella is confused. I ignore the boys and look at Bella.

"My cousin Julia visits me in Washington every summer. We met Embry and his mom years ago and every time she comes for a visit we hang out. It's been a few years though." Bella nods in understanding.

The boys start talking about the bikes. Bella and I are standing to the side being ignored by them.

"Sorry about Jake." Bella whispers to me.

I look at her in confusion. Not understanding why she is apologizing for him. She is the second person apologizing for Jacob.

"Not your fault! He and I are too different. Who cares we don't get along? I'm your friend. It doesn't mean I have to be his." I say while I look over to Jacob. I see Jacob's back stiffen and I look at Bella. Good! I hope he heard me. I think to myself.

Bella sighs and doesn't say anything else. After a few minutes, Bella says we should go home. I nod and tell her I'm going to say bye to Billy. As I leave the garage, Embry follows me out.

"Hey! What are you doing tomorrow?"

"Homework." I say groaning.

He laughs and says. "Well, if you get it done early feel free to come by. Mom would love to see you again. Just cause Jules isn't here, it doesn't mean we can't hang out. Just call so mom can pick you up."

I smile and nod. "Okay. I'll let you know if I can. And I can drive myself. I just need the house number again. I know it's something Willow Street."

"15 Willow Street." Embry replies.

I give him a hug and continue on my way to the house. Billy is reading a book as I enter the house. I tell him Bella and I are leaving and thank him for his hospitality. He tells me I'm welcomed here anytime.

I go back to the garage and wave goodbye to Quil, Embry and even Jacob. Bella drives us back to Forks and its already nightfall when she pulls into my driveway. I hug Bella goodbye and tell her we should hang out again soon.

Mom is home already when I come in, so I lock the door behind me. She is making lasagna for dinner. I call out to her as I put my purse on the couch.

"Hey hon! You're home just in time. I was about to text you to see where you are." Mom says as she puts the lasagna into the oven. I wash my hands and set the table. I tell her about my day, and she is happy to hear I saw Embry. When I tell her Embry invited me over tomorrow, she tells me we have to invite him and his mom to our house one day.

After dinner I start on my homework so I can see Embry tomorrow. A few hours later, as I'm getting ready for bed, I decide to text Julia.

You can't believe who I saw today.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy. She types back with a wink emoji. I laugh as I'm texting back.

I wish :( good guess though. I saw EMBRY CALL! I'm going to his house tomorrow to hang out.

How? Where? I need deets ASAP!

I'm typing a reply and I get a call from her.

"Girl! I haven't seen him in years. How did you run into him? Where? What did he say?"

"Hello to you too Jules." I say while rolling my eyes at her enthusiasm. I put the phone on speaker and change into my PJs.

"Hello favorite cous! How have you been this fine day?" Jules says in a polite voice.

"Stop buttering me up! Flattery won't get you anywhere with me." I start brushing my hair.

"Eh…I tried. So? Tell me! Tell me!" Jules says and I hear munching over the receiver. She is always snacking on something even if it's 10 o'clock at night.

"Remember Bella?" I ask as I move to the bathroom to remove my makeup.

"Yes, your depressed antisocial neighbor. What about her?" Jules asks between chews.

"She wanted to hang out today and we went over to La Push. On the way over, she tells me we are going to Jacob Black's house."

Jules gasps loudly and I hear her coughing. Then I hear her drinking something.

"Jules, you okay?" I ask as I finish removing my makeup.

"Yeah…yeah. Continue this fascinating tale."

I wash my hands and say. "Well, Jacob was charming as usual. But Embry and Quil showed up."

"Ah…I remember them. So, Jake is your Jacob Black?" Jules asks and I hear barking nearby. "Coco stop it! I'm on the phone. Get over here!"

"I miss Coco!" I say fondly remembering Jules' chocolate-brown Maltese.

"She misses you too. You are coming for my birthday, right?"

"Yes! Speaking of… what do you want? It's not everyday someone turns sixteen." I tease as I start to floss my teeth.

"Nothing hon. I literally have everything I want. Your mere presence is a gift itself." Jules says humbly and I smirk.

"I'm going to get you something anyway."

"You totally distracted me! What did Embry say?" Jules whines.

"Oh…sorry! Nothing really…just that he wants to hang out. He asked about you and I said you're in Denver. I'm going over to his house tomorrow. I can call you and we can Facetime." I offer as I throw away my floss.

"Awesome! I'll be waiting."

"Cool. I got to go. Goodnight!" I say with a smile.

"Goodnight." Jules says and she hangs up. I sigh happily and brush my teeth. I finish up in the bathroom and lay down under my covers in my bed. I set my alarm and put my phone on my nightstand. I turn off my lamp and close my eyes falling asleep quickly.

AN: Hello lovely readers! I'm sorry for the short chapter but I needed a chapter to introduce Embry, Quil, and Julia (partially). Julia is an important OC and will be mentioned a lot in this fic. She won't appear until mid-summer (AKA few weeks after the Battle of the Newborn Army). I know Facetime didn't exist in 2006, but let's pretend in this universe it exists. Diana is being mean to Jacob, but it will get better in time. Jacob's easygoing attitude in September didn't leave a good first impression on her.
