A/N: I've been getting back into God Eater lately. And after recently getting GE3 for the switch and having my bits of experiences for playing the third game, I've finally decided, I should give it a shot and write a fanfiction about my main character. Although I am still new to the universe of God Eater, despite having to have played the first two games a few years ago, so I've decided why not start simple, and write the story with my character based off the character design that I had from the first game, GE Burst. (Please note, that I've started playing GE by the very original game for the PSP, before I played Resurrection and GE2RB)
Side note: 'OC' is the main character, whilst the labeled 'protagonist' is referring to 'Yuu Kannagi' the canonical protagonist of the first game. And this story is set only a year after the first game, and two years before the second game may take place.
Disclaimer: I do not own the God Eater franchise.

Act 1: Without A Compass
"Damn!" Tatsumi cursed as he was sent flying backwards from a blast impact, fired by the one and only, Kanon. "Ugh, geez... Will you please, stay out of my line of fire?" Kanon, impatiently remarked as she tried her best to focus on her aiming on one of the Ogretails.
Tatsumi, who was never really the type for arguing, just gave a small grin. "I can still fight! I'm gonna push through..!" The leader of the 2nd unit charged in towards a pair of Ogretails and tried his best to stay away from Kanon's line of firing as he possibly could. But everyone in the 1st and 2nd units all had that mindset before leaving the Den for this mission...
Today wasn't much of a real fight, but a simple extermination task to clean up a pack of blaze and spark variant of Ogretails within the Infernal Subway. At least it's a simple job for the 1st unit of handle, but considering that there were about twenty of these Ogretails -ten blaze and ten spark variants- there were also a pair of fallen Gboro-Gboros, which were also blaze variants. Thus, the mission became a joint operation with the friendly 2nd unit...
Yuu, despite not having any struggles to fight one of the Gboro-Gboros, took precaution with his attacks in blade from, while Alisa, dearly backing him up with covering fire from behind. He lost count of the amount of times she had saved him with covering fire whenever he ended being cornered by three or at least a pair of larger Aragami. He still couldn't help but mentally fluster at the thought of always being within Alisa's sights whenever they were on missions. But perhaps that's what to expect when he and Alisa just so happen to be officially dating for an least a year now...
"Watch out!" Kota suddenly shouted. The Gboro-Gboro fired three fire balls from it's canon, but luckily, Yuu was quick enough to block with his buckler shield. "Yuu!" Alisa shouted while firing her god arc at the Gboro-Gboro, who unfortunately for Yuu, had him cornered next to a wall.
"I'm okay! Just concentrate on your firing!" Yuu immediately responded as he took the chance to sidestep away from the Gboro-Gboro. Soma then came dashing forward and quickly slamming his buster at the Gboro-Gboro, incapacitating it. "Now!" Soma shouted as he began to ready his god arc for devouring.
Both Yuu and Alisa did the same, and just in time for all three to devour and each gaining burst. And while they were taking advantage of their burst modes, Lindow and Sakuya along with Brendan took care of the other Gboro-Gboro, With Sakuya, taking easy kills by sniping some of the other Orgetails out to decrease their number. But after at least less than half an hour, the mission was cleared, with Sakuya contacting Hibari for extraction helicopter.
While devouring the core of the Gboro-Gboro they've killed, Yuu immediately noticed Alisa approaching with a relieved look on her face. Yuu just smiled casually. "If you're worried, let me assure you, I'm okay -" Yuu, was immediately interrupted when Alisa quickly reached her hands on his face, and started pinching both of his cheeks. "Ow! Ow! Alisa..!" Yuu protested.
Alisa, shortly frowned and replied, while still pinching Yuu's cheeks, even though it was rather in a playful manner. "You could've gotten incapacitated! And did you really needed to just suddenly charge in like that!?"
Although, as amusing as it was to see them and their relationship after mission clear, it was still embarrassing for Yuu, to see the others within the 1st and 2nd units alike trying to hide their amused grins and smirks. Soma was the only one who remained pretty much the same, as the buster wielder just sighed before waking off while shaking his head. And Lindow, failing to contain his amusement, ended up giving a short laugh.
With Yuu feeling his face turn red out of embarrassment, he decided to join up with Tatsumi and Kota as they were heading first to exit the Infernal Subway. Alisa, sighing at Yuu's wreckless side, noticed Kanon also heading for the exit, but with a shameful look on her face. Alisa decide to approach and walk with the older god eater. "Everything okay, Kanon?" She slowly asked while offering a gentle smile.
Kanon just smiled weakly before responding. "I've counted. I've caught Tatsumi in my line of fire at least three times. Then there was also Soma and Brendan earlier. Both of them twice caught in my line of my firing..." Kanon slowly stated, while taking a glance at her god arc in her hands. She sighed. "... I feel like every practice I do, and no matter what I do to improve, I just get even worse than before..."
Alisa knew where the pink haired god eater was getting at. Of course... Everybody in the Far East Branch knew who Kanon Daiba is. A clumsy, shy and genuine person outside the battlefield. But a notorious one for friendly firing, that most other god eaters do what they can to avoid being deployed on missions with Kanon... "Well... You did great, and still, with just more practices, I'm sure you'll improve." Alisa said, trying to sound as comforting as she can be. Though despite her genuine statement, Kanon obviously didn't bought that.
"I think I've wasted too much of Sakuya's time teaching me how to aim properly... But sniper type isn't as complicated as a blast type of god arc gun form... I still appreciate it though... But I'm starting to feel like the more I do try to train diligently, the worse it only gets..." Kanon paused. Looking at Alisa as they walked behind the others while exiting the Infernal Subway. "Alisa... You and I are friends, right..?" Kanon suddenly asked.
Alisa was surprised by the sudden question. Of course... There was nothing to deny that, even if she doesn't say so, considering that the 1st and 2nd unit had been usually paired up on joint operations more than they could even work with the 3rd unit. Alisa blinked a few times before stuttering in response. "I... I mean... Yes. Kanon... Why would you even ask such a -" "I just wanted to hear your honest opinion, Alisa." Kanon interrupted her, surprising Alisa once again, as Kanon continued. "... Alisa... Do you think I'm even reach the cut to a god eater..? I've never asked this sort of question to anyone, but since we've been getting to work together much frequently, I figured, I'd ask you instead..." Kanon quietly said as she stopped walking.
Alisa stopped on her tracks, looking at Kanon sympathetically. "Kanon..." Alisa tried to speak, but Kanon sighed before smiling gently. "It's okay, Alisa. You don't have to answer that... Never mind that I even -" "Yes, Kanon. I do think so that you are cut to be a god eater..." Alisa then answered immediately. She wanted to be honest to Kanon, and so she did... "Kanon... If you like, I can help you as well... Yes, you've made your point, that a sniper and blast type god arcs aren't the same... And so is assault type, like my gun form..." Alisa genty stated, but she then smiled comfortingly before continuing. "... But that doesn't mean I won't help you out with your aiming... No matter the differences of our gun forms. I can help you out as well, Kanon... But wait... Have you been listening to those words about your friendly firing issues from other god eaters again..?"
Kanon looked down. But she gave a slow nod. "I mean... I don't eavesdrop on people but... Well... You know how most god eaters back at the Den think of me..." Kanon replied with a sigh. "Kanon... Just ignore them... We're friends. And I'll help you out just like Sakuya's been helping you on your aiming." Alisa finally said with a comforting smile.
Kanon, sighing one last time, finally have a nod. "Okay... But... Thank you... For... Being honest with me, Alisa..." Kanon shyly said. Alisa just smiled before jerking her head towards the direction that the other god eaters headed. "Come on. We've done a goob today. Now let's head back to the Den." Alisa said with a smile, with Kanon, giving a nod in response.
...
"You are cleared for transfer into the Far East Branch. Are you all set for departure?" A Russian supervisor asked. In front of him was a 17 year old male New-Type, hailing from the small, underfunded Philippine Branch... The young man adjusted his glasses and nodded before giving a simple response. "Yes. I am all set for departure."
The russian supervisor gave a sigh. "... I know you never really wanted to be ere either... But considering that you have your own personal mission to travel around from branch to branch... I wish you the best of luck, Corporal. And likewise; You've done great service to the Russia Branch. That attack we've suffered last year took quite a toll on our branch... Lucky we had you along side many of our fearsome New-Types... Thank you for you service here, Corporal Gladius." The supervisor gently said.
The young man, Gladius, gave a polite nod just before the supervisor spoke again. "I've also been informed by one of our maintenance crew that your god arc is in excellent shape, ready for combat use." The supervisor paused before pondering for a bit. "Although it makes me wonder... Why you hated your own god arc... The maintenance crew would usually inform me about your... Pardon me -careless- handling of your god arc... And right when you've change your blade, shield and gun made out of high grade materials... Even other god eaters would be passing words about you, neglecting your own god arc, and treating it like a burden..."
Gladius stared at the supervisor. Surprised for a moment, but then, frowning... "Something happened back when I was at the Philippine Branch... I've done some... Things... That I am not proud of, with my old blade... So I've changed my god arc setup... But that is all I have to say. Sir." Gladius politely replied.
The supervisor, giving an understanding nod even replied. "Well... I am not aware about what really happened in the Philippine Branch that made you neglect and even despise your own god arc... But let me just say: your god arc isn't just a weapon entrusted to you by Fenrir... It's part of you. A part of your life - As a god eater. So please. I kindly ask for you to at least handle your god arc with care..."
While Gladius struggled to accept every word of it. He couldn't think of having to look at his god arc, neither treat it the way most of eaters treat their god arcs with care... It just gave him constant reminder of a sin that he had committed out of rage back in the Philippine Branch... Leading to him, exiling himself, searching for a specific Aragami for over a year...
Gladius, without a word, politely took his leave to get his god arc, before heading over to his private quarters to get his packed luggage. Not long after... Gladius, hauling his luggage and god arc inside a large metal case, made his way into a large aircraft, aboard with other passengers, and supplies being exported to the Far East Branch...
With the large plane taking of to its destination in the Far East, Gladius sat quietly on his seat. There aren't much passengers on board, which he felt relived, as he took hi seat at the far back on the plane, and reluctantly eyeing the metal suitcase, storing his god arc. "Your god arc isn't just a weapon entrusted to you by Fenrir... It's part of you. A part of your life - As a god eater. So please. I kindly ask for you to as least handle your god arc with care..."
The final statement of the russian supervisor lingered in his mind... But how could an instrument used for murder be part of his life..? When he's just done that, with his god arc..? Now he's punishing himself for it... Afraid that he had already disappointed his late foster father, who was an Old-Type god eater... Gladius tried to brush his thoughts away as he decided to put on his headphones, and played a song from the old times before the Aragami... Perhaps a song that is very fitting, especially for the setting of the Far East (Song is: 'Chase' by Batta)... Gladius quietly listened to the song in his headphones, while looking through the small window next to him. Trying to distract himself with the sight of the blue skies and cloud above. Eventually... Gladius closed his eyes, and fell asleep during the flight to the Far East Branch...
