Ch.2 A Typical Day
The day started as a typical day in Konoha. A mission with two other fellow chunin. A seemingly simple recovery mission that the Hokage said I had to take the lead on. No matter my protests or my wish to run the mission with the very busy Shisui.
However, the mission did not go as planned. One of my teammates got injured. The mission went to shit there. Well, it was already shit. We all go out a little worse for wear. But alive and well-ish.
"So I threw Ren on my back, and we retreated to the cave. I left Ren and Sou at the cave with a barrier seal. That will break if I die. Then I travel back to the hostile ninjas for the scroll. I got the scroll, and the ninjas were taken care of. Then I went back to the cave and broke the seal. Finally, we traveled back to Konoha, switching Ren between Sou and me. As soon as we reach the gates, I order Sou to take Ren to the hospital, stating that I would report in. And I am reminding them to submit their mission statement as soon as possible." I threw the scroll at the Hokage.
The Hokage caught it with a raised brow. "And what happened to the enemy?"
"Oh, I use my new knockout tags on them," I stated happily, rocking on my hill. Grazing around the office for more exciting things to look at.
(It's always too quiet in the tower, along with the intense air. Make a person uncomfortable)
"So you just play tag with the enemy?" A tired Hokage said.
"Essentially."
An exasperated sigh could be heard. "Well, you all come back safely, and the mission succeeds even with all the difficulties. The enemy was subdued peacefully. Good job. You may be dismissed."
I faced the Hokage, nodded my head, turned on my hills, and hummed all the way out of the office and out the tower to the business streets of Konoha. Welcoming the noise.
Walking home should be an easy peaceful endeavor; however, being stalked is a daily occurrence in Konoha. Parents or older siblings stalking children. Children try to stalk their parents. Partners stalking partners, even potential partners. It is a little cute and creepy when a ninja asks out a civil and ends up spelling some info they should not know in their flustered state.
I do have the ability to lose my stalkers; however, two of them would just head towards my house after I lost them. And leaving a little five years alone felt wrong. In my past life, leaving small children alone was frowned upon, and the guilty would eat my insides out even now.
"You know these bags are very heavy," I called out in the empty air. Holding up the bags as I wait for one or more people to step out of the shadows. They did not disappoint; a black blur crossed my vision. The weight of the grocery bags was gone leaving empty air in front of me. Two Uchiha were at my side in an instant. And then a tiny deer came stumbling out of the shadow.
"Since you found me. You will have to carry me now," said Shikamaru Nara, his arm up in the fashion of carrying me now, pleasant.
I crouched down, my backbend waiting for Nara to slowly walk towards me and then haphazardly throw himself on my back. My arm quickly wrapped around his legs and secured him to me as I rose to start back home. The two Uchiha pause to watch for a bit before hurrying to catch up.
"So you're going to start the academy soon?" I said jumpy a little to make sure Nara boy would answer me.
A groan and a mutter of a troublesome woman were heard from the little Nara. "It started in six months. And it sounds boring."
"Well, you can try to skip like Itachi did." I bump the said Uchiha on the left. He takes a small tiny breath of disbelief. He has never been a very tactile person.
"Sounds like too much work. Didn't you change the rule about graduating age to ten?"
"That was originally my intent, but both ninja and civils council along with clans did not like that. You know the prestige of having a prodigy was too great. As always, the needs of Konoha are not the needs of the people."
"Oh, sorry." The little Nara noticed the two tense Uchiha on both sides of us. I might have vented to one or both of them a lot, and my plans to destroy the village. Those plans I would never use. It is too much work, and the plans were never realistic. They were made to be therapeutic and under privacy seals.
The awkward air filled us. It was kind of suffocating, like when the academy teachers called on you when you know that they know that you do not know the answer. And everybody stares at you like you are fresh meat.
"Anyways," the little Nara broke us out or me.
Blessed the Nara for seizing opportunities. We would have been stuck in silence, unlit me, or Shisui asked a stupid question. Ok, I would ask a stupid question. Shisui always knows what to say. But we all can not be Shisui.
" Mom wants you to babysit again." He holds up a mission scroll.
Where did he hide that on his tiny body?
The mission scroll was a yellow one, indicating it at least a B. Meaning it would be an excellent pay but for one clan kids. No way. "Wait, I am not babysitting Choji and Ino too. Am I?" This was not a question; it was a statement.
"Yep," said the smug Nara.
I turn to my Uchiha companions for help. Only to see a smirking Shuisu and a small smiling Itachi.
How can a five-year-old be so smug? It's all sensei's fault.
