Tap. Tap. Tap.
Jump. Rapid raised hand shake.
"Sakura sake Boku no mune no naka ni
Mebaeta Namonaki Yumetachi
Furimukuna Ushiro niwa asu wa naikara
Mae! Mae!"
Jump.
"Whoa-oh! Whoa-oh!"
Slide.
"Gene, what are you doing?" the other half of the Davis twins asked as he watched in shock and mild horror his elder brother sing, dance, jump and slide to a song he had never heard. It wasn't rare that his twin had his eccentric moments, but what he just saw really shook him up. "I think I just got scarred for lifeā¦"
His vision swept the inside of his room and landed on the television that was playing what appeared to be a concert. Of who, he didn't know but from what he gathered, whoever they were, they're Japanese and as far as he's concerned, that was enough information to gleam from them.
Gene, who was on the floor gasping for air from all the singing and dancing he did, stood up and smiled widely at his stunned twin. "Hey Noll!" He wiped the sweat that had formed on his forehead and went to the DVD player to pause it
"Were you possessed by a spirit?" Gene raised an eyebrow at him, wondering where his twin suddenly got that idea. "No, why?"
"You were acting like a bloody lunatic a while ago." At this, Gene laughed. "Oh that! Well, the song was really catchy and I can't help but be hyped up as they are on screen." It was then Noll's turn to raise an eyebrow. He didn't find it amusing at all.
"Oh don't be such an uptight git, Noll. You should relax and let loose sometimes." Gene swayed his hips a bit and grinned at his brother, who in turn narrowed his eyes at him in disgust.
"I'd rather do something useful than waste my time on idiotic things."
"But this is actually useful!" Noll scoffed at this.
"FYI Mr. I'm-too-uptight-to-have-fun, what I'm doing is cultural research, and according to my correspondence, this group is really popular in Japan. They even have this single as the number one in the Oricon hit chart." Gene said in his most serious voice that he could muster.
Noll rolled his eyes. How that piece of information could be of any relevance to his upcoming trip simply eluded him. Honestly, there were just times that he couldn't understand what went on inside his brother's mind that he sometimes wished that they're not related at all. "You're a lost cause Gene."
With that, Noll left his brother alone to his concert DVD and went to his own room, vowing that he'd forget whatever he just witnessed and to stay clear of boy bands, whether they be Japanese or otherwise.
An evil grin spread on Gene's face once his brother disappeared from sight. He knew just from the look on Noll's face that his brother didn't like the band. He had gained something new to annoy Noll with and was he ever going to have fun with it.
Author's Note: This is a two part short story that was inspired by Trespassing's chapter 17 by Coriana and by Narukietyam's story Dear Snow. Next up, fast forward to the future.
