Update: 08/26/22: This is an update for all my stories. I had taken a break from writing for a few reasons. 1) It was difficult to motivate myself to continue. 2) The quality of my stories weren't up to what I wanted them to be. I had rushed a few of them to complete them and it showed. And 3) A few of them weren't really stories I wanted to tell. Now, I plan to post only when I'm sure a story is good and ready. And going forward, I plan to rewrite a few stories (The Fairy Tale, The Reluctant Hero, Dead by Daylight Tales: Silent Evil, etc.). One story that I have posted on , Attack on Titan and the Evil Self Insert, will be rewritten as well. That story and other future stories like it will be posted only on AO3 and will be renamed to Evil Self-Insert: (Fandom Name) to easily separate those stories from others. I won't give a date for the rewritten story to come but expect something in the next month or two.

Chapter One: The Kingdom of Vale, Part One

Patch, Vale Kingdom, Sanus

Jaune Arc sighed. The seventeen-year-old blonde hair and dark blue eyed knight-in-training walked through the woods late at night during a thunderstorm on the island of Patch. His outfit was completely soaked. He wore a black hoodie, blue pants, and black shoes with a white diamond-shape chestplate, white spaulders, and white rerebraces. His sword and shield, Crocea Mors, were sheathed.

"I need to find shelter…" Jaune muttered to himself.

He had begun his travels through the Kingdom of Vale to prove himself as a knight. Against the wishes of his parents and seven sisters. But he wanted to carry on his families' legacy of legendary knights. His grandfather Jonathan Arc had fought during the Great War and his father Nicholas Arc was a well known Huntsman. He knew he didn't have to follow this path but he was determined to. For himself.

And that had led him to the local Huntsman guild in the village of Vale where he accepted a few jobs every few days. This job was to eliminate a few werewolf grimm, or Beowolves, which he had done only an hour ago until the storm began. Looking around, he saw only trees and knew his luck was bad. He only hoped he found shelter soon or the storm would end.

Unfortunately, a large bear grimm, or Ursa, appeared instead from the trees. The beast swiped a paw at Jaune who backed away. He pulled out his sword and readied his shield to block another attack. But the Ursa strength knocked his shield away and clawed at his face. He felt a wetness on his face that wasn't the rain.

Another attack that landed on his chest and he fell to the ground. He felt another wetness under his hoodie and knew it was blood. Before he blacked out, he could have sworn he saw a crow fly from the trees.

Jaune opened his eyes and quickly sat up. He found himself on a couch in a cabin. A fire lit up nearby and his sword, shield, and armor close to it. He also realized his hoodie and shirt were off, leaving his chest bandaged. He felt his face and felt stitches under his left eye. He sighed and looked out the nearby window. Thankfully, it was morning and the storm had stopped.

"Uh… Hi…" A voice said shyly.

Jaune turned from the window to the person who spoke. A short girl, who seemed younger than him, stood in the doorway. She had shoulder-length black hair and silver eyes and wore a red hooded cloak with a silver rose emblem pin, black blouse, black skirt, black stockings, and black shoes.

"Uh… Hello…" Jaune said weakly.

"Ruby? Who are you talking to? Oh! You're awake!"

A woman joined who he figured was Ruby. She looked almost like her and he figured she was her mother. She had shoulder-length black hair and silver eyes too and wore a white hooded cloak, black blouse, black skirt, gray leggings, and black knee-high boots.

"Yeah… Thank you… For saving me from that Ursa… And sheltering me…"

"Oh, that wasn't me… But that doesn't matter. I'm glad you're okay. When you came in, you were in bad shape. Happy to see you're awake and okay now. But why were you outside? And why do you have a sword and shield? Are you a Huntsman? Oh! You're just like my daughter! I-"

"Mom!" The girl, Ruby, face was red from embarrassment.

"Sorry! That reminds me. I'm Summer Rose and this is my daughter Ruby." Summer gave him a warm smile.

"Jaune Arc…" Jaune said weakly.

"Arc? Like Nicholas Arc?"

"Yeah…"

"I see. Well, you're going to stay here and rest up until you're feeling better. Understood young man?"

"Yes, maam." Jaune said quickly.

"Summer. And don't be shy Ruby. Say hi!" Summer pushed her daughter Ruby closer to Jaune and she let out a small squeak.

"Mom!"

Despite the situation, Jaune found both Summer and Ruby to be very nice people. They were both Huntresses and he learned her mother still accepted jobs from the local Huntsman guild in the village, also named Patch, on the island of Patch. She would sometimes take her daughter Ruby with her. He also learned they both used an ax as a weapon, Winter Rose and Crescent Rose. But that hadn't been the only thing he learned…

"So you're going with us to Vale, handsome?"

Yang Xiao Long. Summer's niece and Ruby's older cousin by two years. The seventeen-year-old had long blonde hair and lilac eyes and wore a gray short sleeve jacket with a stitched emblem of a yellow flaming heart emblem on the left sleeve, an orange tank top that bared her midriff, gray pants, and white shoes. Also a huntress with bracers called Ember Celica. She was also into puns and a shameless flirt… And her chest was also very developed…

"Yes…" Jaune gulped while Yang and Summer giggled. Ruby gave her sister an annoyed look from across the kitchen table.

After Yang came over, the four of them had breakfast until Summer suggested they all sail to the village of Vale so she could run errands while Ruby and Yang could get to know him better. And he could see his family… He didn't mind despite his injury. He realized he got lucky after his encounter with the Ursa. But he also didn't mind their company. Summer was as motherly as his own mom and Ruby and Yang were nice to talk too. Even if Ruby was a shy fifteen-year-old girl and Yang was… Yang.

"Yang…" Ruby muttered.

"Okay, okay. I'll leave your boyfriend alone." Yang smirked.

"What?!" Jaune and Ruby shouted together, both their faces flushed, which only caused her and Summer to openly laugh.

A/N: A short RWBY story in a more fantasy setting with Jaune as a novice knight. Yes, expect a harem. Because why not.
