Hello all! Sorry to say that this is the last chapter! I have loved the journey of writing my first story and hope that I can continue to write more stories that someone will love. Hopefully you have loved this too. I would like to tell you all a small story first, how I thought this up. I was walking through a theme park, (Epcot Disney World) and it just popped into my head and I had to stop at a bathroom to write everything down as I couldn't type and walk at the same time. I would have fallen over or walked into someone. I bet no one is still reading this but if you are I would like to suggest you read my Haymitch one shot "There's A Grief That Can't Be Spoken" it's a scene from Mockingjay that we don't get to see since Haymitch isn't with Katniss in the Capitol. Please please read it! And please comment and review on the last chapter of Deep In The Meadow Of Her Heart.

I own nothing.

Chapter 15 – Three Years Later

3 years later….

The day has finally come, and I cant believe it. I couldn't be happier. After all it is my wedding day, a perfect day too. Its sunny and there is the smell of freshly picked flowers, a light breeze to tame the heat of August. Gale is letting us get ready in his house before we make our way to our new one.

Its been three years since Gale volunteered for Peeta in the games. When we all actually sat down and talked Gale told us that he was fine with us together, happy even. We told him how sorry we were, but that it had happened before the games and that we were really truly happy. We talked about his time in the arena, we didn't push, but it all just spilled out of him. It seemed like it helped for him to talk about it, it helped us understand. We are all a lot closer since the games, not taking each other for granted anymore. We were all happy, Gale was a victor but not a famous one, one of the forgotten ones. For that, I couldn't be more grateful. He isn't being sold, or stalked, or in a constant spotlight. Life is great.

Peeta and I maxed out last year for the Hunger Games and we wanted to wait until school was done to finally get married. We took a year off from school to get used to life without it. We found a house that we can live in, its five minutes from the gate to Victor's Village. I am going to work at the bakery with Peeta since he is taking it over. Prim will still live with my mother but she maxes out o the Hunger Games in a few years so I have a little less worry when it comes to her. I still don't let her put her name in anymore than she has too, Gale helps. He is seeing Madge Undersee, and I see a proposal coming on.

Today is the day, that I will become Mrs. Peeta Mellark and no one has any idea how excited I am. People kept telling me they knew it would happen all along, but I don't believe them. When we told people they were really shocked to see that I agreed to this, so how could they have known? Peeta turned 19 yesterday and I told him that I would give him his present tonight. Now stop thinking dirty things. We have to have our toasting so, I have learned how to make Peeta's favorite berry bread, and we will toast that. I am showing him that I am ready to be the wife of a baker, he thought I would hate it since the bakery isn't in the woods.

I hear a knock on the door of the study that I am in, and my sister and my mother come in with a white dress from the Justice Building, that they help me into. My mother does my hair in such a way that half is up and braided together and the rest is down and it flows in waves across my shoulders.

"Peeta just can't wait to see you," Prim chides. I give her a peck on the cheek and tell her I can't wait to see him either. She gives me a hug and then walks out the door, closing it behind her. My mother turns to me and takes me in. I see that she is trying not to cry. I give her a hug. "I'm ready Mom, I really am."

"I know sweetheart," she gives me one last embrace then opens the door for me and I take long elegant strides out the door and see Peeta and Gale in the main entrance that connects a living area with a couch and some chairs to the kitchen. He is talking to Gale and neither one of them sees me. I clear my throat to get their attention, and Gale looks at me and smiles. Peeta on the other hand has a look of awe and love all over his face, a smile that could break his face in half. I walk over to him and take his hand in mine.

"Are you ready?" I ask him. He gives me a kiss and answers.

"Always."

We signed the papers at the Justice Building and they congratulated us, but we didn't feel married yet. Not until the toasting. We then all walk to our little house, it has a kitchen, living area, and three bedrooms. Its bigger than most but Gale got it for us as a wedding gift so that we would always be close to him. We had quite a little parade with us, my mother and sister, Peeta's whole family except his mother, Gale's family, (though Rory was with Prim) Madge Undersee was with Gale, and Delly Cartwright and her brother who were good friends with Peeta. Once we arrived at our house they all watched as we crossed through the door to our new house, Peeta picked me up instead of letting me walk through like most people do. Everyone sang the special song and then left once we wished them well.

We shut the door, then it was just us. I kissed his cheek and told him to get the fire started. I ran into the kitchen to grab the bread I made. He called for me to grab the bread he had set aside for the occasion, but I just smiled at that. I came back to the living area and the fireplace was ablaze. I handed him the bread I made and he smiled at me.

"You made this?" he asked.

"Yes, its your favorite. Happy Birthday." I gave him a sweet kiss.

"Are you ready Katniss?" he asked, almost testing to see if I would freak out, but I wouldn't. I would never leave him. I answered by ripping the bread into two pieces, one for the both of us. I handed it to him and we gave each other a smile and plunged our bread into the flames. Once it toasted he offered his piece to me and mine to him. We ate and were married, at last.

"Now Mrs. Mellark," he said with a smile, "I would like to journey to another room." He held out his hand for me. We had been waiting for this since we got engaged. We wanted it to be romantic, our first and our last. I hastily grabbed his hand.

"Lead the way Mr. Mellark," he scooped me up and we went to our room. And after everything that has happened to me, I cant believe it took so long for us to finally be together.
