If you were to walk into the theater you would see a concession stand filled to the brim with overworked and underpaid attendants. The floors were polished and shiny but there were bits of popcorn littered around. Customers chatted loudly in the retro-themed movie theater and it would have been pitch black save for the neon-themed lights hanging about.
A short man, Devin, stares at a menu screen of the stand, "Uhh... I'll have two number 9's a number 9 large.."
The concession stand attendant, a nervous worker responds, "I'm sorry, um we don't have..."
An auburn girl leans over the counter and interrupts, "Do you guys have..." she leans in closer and whispers, "lean?"
The attendant stands there overwhelmed and confused.
A short Mexican girl, Lynda notices and cringes, "Guys... please stop, you are bothering the worker. Also, I clogged one of the toilets." and points towards the bathroom with her thumb.
The attendant's jaw drops and looks at Lynda flabbergasted.
The auburn girl grimaces and waves her off, "Yea, yea. Go get Vincent and Omar to help us carry our snacks." she turns to the attendant to finish purchasing their snacks from the attendant.
Lynda walks away towards two skinny boys standing next to a promotional movie cut-out, leaving Devin and Summer alone at the register.
Lynda stares at the two boys, her friends, Omar and Vincent, "My balls itch. Summer wants our help."
"what." Omar stares at Lynda.
Vincent stares at her in disgust, "Girl, you do not have any balls!"
"no." She walks away.
"What?" Omar stares at Lynda genuinely confused then turns to Vincent.
Vincent shrugs, "I don't even know." and follows her back to the others.
Omar reluctantly trudges behind questioning his sanity for hanging out with these guys.
Dividing snacks between themselves the group heads toward their designated theater room.
They each take a seat, Vincent and Summer in the back while the other three friends sit in the front.
"braiinsss..." Lynda drawls.
Vincent looks at her blankly, "girl actin like a zombie.. she as dumb as one I guess.."
"errmmm fart" Lynda pauses before entering a moment of contemplation and saying, "I want to watch Morbius 2."
The group turns their heads to her.
"Why don't we then? We could go out to dinner after." Devin offers.
"I don't know...When do you leave again Summer?" Vincent asks looking at Summer.
Summer blanks out for a moment then acknowledge him, "Huh? Oh yea, um, next Tuesday."
"Next Tuesday! God damn!" Vincent's eyes widen and he exclaims in a British accent.
Summer nods grabbing a handful of popcorn, "Mhm, then back to the Military. Doesn't Lynda have a case that day too?"
"Yea." Lynda responds curtly.
Devin huffs turning to her, "Then why did you ask?"
"I dunno." Lynda shrugs.
"What are you defending again?" Omar asks.
"Immigration stuff." Lynda simply responds.
At that Omar remembers what she had told him before, "Oh yea.."
The lights dim signaling the beginning of the movie and the theater goes completely silent.
Lynda leans over to Vincent and whispers, "I have to fart."
Vincent rolls his eyes, "oh my god shut up."
The sun had set by the time they made it out of the theater. It had rained while they were in the theaters making everything outside smell like wet concrete.
"mid-movie" Lynda says while walking out of the theater doors.
"what. I saw a tear fall down your eye." Omar stares at Lynda and conversation picks up as the group starts walking to Vincent's car.
"Lynda shut up." Summer says while giving Lynda a mean look, "But yea kinda' mid."
Devin scoffs, "What the hell are you talking about it was a great fucking movie."
Summer stares at him blankly, "Vincent literally fell asleep."
Vincent looks around nervously, "Umm... no I didn't..."
Their path to the car had included a small walk past random stores. It was very wet and most of the shops had closed already meaning on the street lamps had lit the path.
Omar exhales calmly, his nice red jacket keeping him warm, " I love the rain."
"Yes yes, we know" Vincent yawns.
"It is very cold tonight, we should cuddle to stay warm..." Summer suggests grinning.
Lynda bites her lip, "Yea baby gurl, come ere'"
"whaatttt... you're literally gay!" Omar yells.
"So are you." Lynda retorts.
"I'm not gay!" Steam comes out of Omar's ears, he had been called gay many a time but was not having it on this particular day.
Vincent raises a brow, "You kinda are."
"I'm nooottt.." Omar whines.
"Bro it's ok I support you." Devin gives him a thumbs up.
"Me too." Lynda agrees.
Omar glares, "I hate you all.."
"cope." Vincent responds.
It had started to become foggy. It had already been difficult to see because it was night time but the fog added to this difficulty. It had become oddly eerie, as if something at any given moment could jump out at them.
They had made it to the parking lot within after two minutes of nothing but chatter. Their footsteps made loud splashes when coming into contact with the ground the whole time.
"I'm so sleepy.." Vincent says.
Omar raises a brow, "Dude you literally slept the whole fucking movie."
"Don't care." Vincent responds.
"Yea, you are a little bit crazy for that Vincent." Lynda says.
"Bitch! You literally would not stop talking about your farts!" Vincent yells at her.
"ok and?" Lynda asks.
Vincent yells, "WHAT DO YOU MEAN OK AND YOU LITERALLY JUST SAID- never mind."
"yup" Lynda says.
"You both are crazy." Devin comments.
"Can we play Fortnite when we get home?" Lynda asks.
Devin looks at her, "I'm down."
Vincent sighs upwardly and relaxes his head on his seat, "Awful, I am taking a nap when we get back."
"I have work tomorrow." Omar says.
"Damn, on a Sunday?" Devin raises a brow.
"I have to photograph a wedding.." Omar whines.
"Goofy ah." Devin says entering the car.
Lynda stares at Omar, "Let me come with you."
Omar shuts her down quickly, "No. Shut up." and hops in the car.
The group enter the car, Vincent driving with Lynda in the passenger seat while the true men sat in the back (Summer, Devin, and Omar). Vincent quickly starts up the car while the group gets situated. During the time of this, Lynda was babbling about Metapod, Omar and Summer talked about Star Wars, Vincent tried to keep his cool and ignore Lynda, while Devin was playing Persona.
It had begun to rain again starting to sprinkle and then turning into a downpour almost instantaneously. The fog from before had begun creeping up around the car, making it more noticeable and harder for Vincent to drive.
"I love this aesthetic..." Omar says looking out the window.
Summer ignores him, "Yea uh-huh, but like I was saying, Anakin is so hot. I would hit!"
"He is space Hitler." Omar scoffs.
Summer groans, "ugghhhh, NOT THAT VERSION! I would only hit the version before Darth Vader. Darth Vader is so ugly under the suit, mf if I hit that he would have to keep his suit on."
Omar rolls his eyes at this, "Sure, but the clones will always be sexier."
Summer looks up as if she's thinking and nods, "Ok well, you're not wrong. One word my brotha, clone orgy."
Omar cringes, "Please stop. For the record, inhibitor chips wouldn't allow a clone orgy."
Summer thinks for a moment, "Ok, well, I'll just use a very strong magnet and take out all the inhibitor chips."
Omar deadpans, "That wouldn't work."
Summer flips him off, "Literally, cope."
They continue arguing about the topic, to which the rest of the group listens awkwardly.
Devin makes fun of them through gesturing, 'Blah, Blah, Blah' silently to Vincent and Lynda. Which Lynda laughs at and Vincent gives a tired smile too.
Vincent yawns focusing on the road, "I can't see shit in Detriot."
"Let me drive then." Lynda offers.
Vincent flinches, appalled at the idea of Lynda driving, "NO... We'll be fine I think."
Lynda asks, "Do you want to make ou-"
That was the moment the car suddenly swerved onto the road. The tires slipped because of the rain puddles still scattered around. It had happened so fast that everything had instantly gone black.
