6:30am.
Snow has been blocking through his eyesight as he watched the rearview out of reach and as wipers were wipping off the haunting and stoming snow, through the evening when the sun had already went down. January was already making his life a total mess and his plans as well.
Plans to run away. From her. Her. Vincent Keller had ran away from his protector ever since he had come back onto town. To NY. A place to which he had left three years ago. There he was driving through this harsh cold winter, here like a maniac. He frowned back at the snow being wipped off by the wipers from the rental car. But he did wanted to get away from her. Her. Despite the protection she had been ordered to do to keep him safe. It turned out to be much more than that. An heck of an nightmare. He made the choice to leave Denver, Colorado and to take the flight to Manathan, New York.
He needed to go back to her. He needed her to save him. He needed her help. Oh God. He felt so much hopeless. Helpless. Catherine. How much he had missed her? So much, and how it would make a man look for thirst for a very longtime. Even, when they've said goodbye three years ago, when she said he needed to be away so he would be safe and protected, until he wanted Murfield to find him. But now, it was over. There was no Murfield. Not anymore.
He wanted to go back.
And he did.
To escape her. That bitch. That bodyguard. Pretty blond haired woman who sworred to protected him had turned to be a nightmare, she wanted more. Him around herself. A beautiful and sexy athletic woman like herself had wanted and fell for him. He did remembered himself that his own body couldn't resist temptation, but his heart was the one who told him that it just wasn't right.
The beast inside of him died once, the two of them had fought and nearly fell off to their deaths, and to which it made him realize he still felt something so incredilible and untrue. After the alternacation, he couldn't beast out. It just stopped, all of sudden. He remembered standing up to his feet and wobbled out on his unbalacing feet, blood all over his forehead from a scratch or mostly a wound from the falling, and walked up to the phone and to where he caught up with his phone and called 911. For Diane Vaughn. The woman who still laid up down there.
Not so sure if she was dead or not.
And then, he called up his longtime and best friend, J.T. who was still residing to NY. And to which urged him to comeback to home, once when he did told him that he couldn't beast out anymore, once he was finally able to function back to his normal self.
"Calm down, man-
"Don't tell me to calm down, man! I can't calm down now! I might have had killed her, Diane! I might have had-" He urged back as he looked back with sweat and shaking as he kept looking back over his shoulder here, where the accident had been made and over where the body still laid outside of the french doors. Where the blond haired woman still laid over and unmoving. Oh God. He looked frightened here.
What if he had actually did killed her?
"Slow down! You guys fought, I get it! But I do know you, buddy, you're not the kind of man to laid a hand on a woman and even if she's Black Widow, you wouldn't be able to do.." J.T. had tried to keep things down over when he whirled around as he talked right back.
"I don't know what happened, I just know that she was trying to manipulate me off and when I figured out what monster she was, she tried to push me off and the next thing, I don't really remember other than the fact I don't beast out anymore-" His breath was quckening and fast when J.T. had cut him off, once again as calm as he sounded to be. When he could have been the one to freak over the situation. Not him. Not the way around.
"Okay, okay, you've already explained that. It's been three years, since we've talked and now you're freaking out and telling me you can't beast out?"
"J.T. help me out here!" He urged him back to the real point. He couldn't beast out, nothing at all! It's like it just disappeared from him. Not a weird sensation did he felt right after he regained consciousness. Nothing.
"Okay, okay! I'll try to come up with something here. If you really say you can't beast out anymore, then comeback to NY. And we'll talk." Wait, what? Did he just heard J.T. telling him to comeback? What if, what if, Murfield was still looking around for him? Or that he would probably put more people into danger? Like. like-
"To New York, you're sure it's complete safe?" He wasn't sure, if that was such a good idea. New Year had just happened and lately, he had lots and of patients to get and asked to be examined, despite being under another name, here in Colorado. But J.T. looked assured or seemed to be.
"It is. Murfield doesn't excist anymore, Vincent. They've got caught with the Homeland Security Departement, a year ago. All theirs activities had been stopped, Vincent."
"You're sure?" Murfield had been looking under his track until they've gotten themselves caught. Which it did almost brought him to his relief. His own enemies got caught and stopped. For good? He didn't know for sure.
"Definally. Vincent, if you want to comeback, the door is open and I'll be more than happy to welcome you back in my place in the meantime until you find your own spot." A dream that was nearly becoming so true. Close that he wanted to pinch himself hoping he'd wake up. However, J.T. sounded so certain that he needed to ask this. Her namew. Her name that he wasn't or couldn't allow to whisper or to say out loud throughtout the time he spent away from everything. From her from nearly three years.
"And Catherine?" He breathed out her name almost in a whisper. Desparate as his breath sounded. He wasn't so sure for her. This female and determinated detective badass of a woman. Was she still around? Still missing him? After three years? What had happened to her?
"I'm sure she'll be a little shocked, but happy, to see you back and safe." J.T. sounded certain and almost a bit too much relieved to hear his friend out and to even think or letting himself think that Vincent was in no longer danger now." Beast or not, she had appreaciated you from the first day, buddy and missed you a lot when you went away, big guy. I sure did."
"She did, missed me?" He wondered back, sounding a litle bit too hopefull than he've had thought.
"She sure did."
"Love me?" Okay. Maybe a bit too much.
"I don't know about that. But I believe she sure does. The first months were hard when you two parted apart. Although, from what I've heard, she wasn't able to date of if she had, it wouldn't have had been for day or so."
"Okay." He breathed a bit quieted than he had been when he first phoned his friend from NY as he greeted off his friend and hung up after. And how it felt good to talk to J.T. after nearly three years. And especially, when Catherine had pushed him into this witness protection system so he wouldn't be found until all threats would be over. In order to keep him safe. However, all that had been put into a end. All he ever wanted was to comeback to the woman he loved, no. That he still loves around. Ten years he had watched her had been already agonizing for him to bare until he had meet her. Until he disappeared once again after that gunshot had almost killed him if it wasn't for Cat or Evan, that medical examiner whom had a secret crush over the short and brunette beauty. Anyways, Vincent had finally made his mind and wstepped fast as he walked inside of the bedroom and opened the drawners to throw out the first suitcase he could find onto the bed and took out his clothes away. As he planned to escape and buy himself a ticket from the money he had been load from a certin retty blond and bitch woman. One that planned to keep him safe under ex-FBI Agent Diana Bennett's word.
And this when Diane Vaghn had come along. That bitch. Vincent had blinked back as he rubbed his eyes from fatigue. Crap, he had been driving nearly three hours, by now. Through this goddamn storm. Diane.
She was an FBI Agent whom had swored to protect him and it did somehow became more than a simple professional relationship between an agent and his keeper. Diane was very beautiful woman and all that but when it came to temptation and sexuality, it had become out of control. She was an pelicular woman and one whom he should have had stayed away. She was unstable and had wanted something more from him, an vulnerable man with an unspeakable DNA.
And there he was as an normal human man on the run and driving through the streets of New York, trying to calm down despite if he felt crazy here to get away from everyting. Like it had been at the beginning. And Catherine, he had no idea where she had been. Did she lived onto the same loft as she used to? Had she moved on with another man? Did she fell in love?
He had no clue.
He just wanted to see her, and now that he was free of the beast. Free for good.
And that they could or might live happily ever after.
He was sure for sure, he wouldn't survive another ten years away from her, anymore.
Focus, Vincent, keep on focussing, he had thought back with frustration. He couldn't give up yet. He was now free of being a beast, and might be able to comeback now to her. Now, that he was comeptely free. And out of Diane's hold.
And he wanted to comeback to Catherine.
Please, wait for me, Catherine..I am coming back now and to you. He wanted to comeback to her and to prove that he was able to make life an normal life than it should've had been for the few months they've spent together before they've went away. To still be able to think that she still loved him, like he had always had.
Unless Diane wanted to come first, if she was still alive and had known where Vincent Keller had gone onto.
...
But the storming snow had been one of his biggest problems here, he couldn't come out as fast as he could, and especially not escaping the red truck was threating to from behind his rental black car and to whom he couldn't see, very carefully, either.
That damn storm.
...
And Alfonse Fontenaux whom had been eating his lunch nicely into his truck hadn't expected this to happen in any day to come out when he heard or had seen the two cars colliding up up to and against each other, when he first got startled up by the sudden noise and to which it did lead onto a big accident.
He held up his chest and he stood up quiet into his seat, as his dark brown eyes locked up to the horrifying scene that had come a few streets away from his.
So shocked, that he couldn't almost didn't catch up his phone, but first he needed to recollect up his courage and push out open his door. Before he could dial up 911.
...
8:30am.
Crap. crap. What a day it had been for Orfeas Stamatakis as he stormed out from the interrogation room and walked down with loud steps, angrily and sat down at his desk with a groan under his partner Miguel Valdez's smirk.
What a day it had been. Just like it always had been in here in this precinct where cops didn't stopped to move around or when the phone couldn't stop on ringing.
"I guess, Vicki Pollincci had been called over that not-so innocent victim, once again, right?"
"Don't recall me that name over again to my face as long as I still breathe, okay? I was close enough to cut his balls off.." Orfeas had grumbled with frustration as he rolled up his dark longsleeves and ran his fingers through his short curly black hair. He had been over this case ever since a week ago, when he had an serial predator over his hold after three women had called in to testify or more like had more evidence theirs cases than he and Miguel had until they spoken out. Which leaded to one man who stood quietly and like an obidient at the room that he left off with a pretty and bitchy lawyer like Pollinci. Like he had said, he was at this close to knock the guy down. Grab his balls and cut them off. But boy, did he looked exhausted here.
"You're not Elliot Stabbler, buddy. You cannot beat up a guy to make him speak out the truth of him when he calls for lawyer." Miguel had told him about. The man in front of him looked like an exact picture of him, despite that he was mexican origain and him as greek from Crete. Miguel looked a bit like a hulk under these dark clothes, while Orfeas looked like a tall but lean muscular normal man. Miguel was the guy with the physical strength while Orfeas was the one with the brains as Tess Vargas, their female captain had teased them about it.
"Now, you know why I've became a cop. My mom had a crush over Elliot when Law and Order S.U.V. first aired up into screen and to have her kid becoming an law officer is better than being a natural born killer. If you take the new generation here." Orfeas had sighed over and leaned over to his chair tired as he seemed to be.
"Not all kids of today are like that." Miguel had dropped out.
"My mom's words. Not mine." His partner waved off his hands for defense."You give them a gun and they go nuts about it.."
"Just like in my hometown. Anyways, plan to take the rest of evening off and to be with Tina for the rest of the night. I mean later." Miguel had stretched back when Orfeas just rose a an impressive brow. Who his partner was to teach him lessons about love? "It had gotten pretty quiet here, si I might as well get to spend the rest of my night Regan, after work."
"That pretty knockout blond haired woman? That single young mother and nurse who still hasn't called up for a divorce from her husband? You mean?" He teased his friend off.
"Shut up. It's not easy for her go through with it. It's not like you and Tina, when the two of you ran away like Romeo and Juliet and to live out your love and away from your own families's hatred-"
"Yeah, yeah. Cut out all that bullshit, you've heard from the people living in Crete, yeah right. " The dark haired man had pushed out with annoyance."It's pure exagerated tragedy but true. But anyways, we live in different universe and together, freely. We don't have to live and accept their misery, anyways."
"Even if it's marrying Tina, it wouldn't just go and break your mother's heart?" Wouldn't it be? It's not like he was gonna be damned about it.
"Sometimes, the children don't have to live the misery that the families lived through them." Orfeas had admitted as he shrugged his shoulders. "When I first looked to Tina's eyes, I had known she was the one whom my heart was beating up, strongly and desired. And with love. Death doesn't scare me as long I have her with me. I love her, Miguel, and I want to spent the rest of my days with her." He admitted back as Miguel folded his arms against his strong chest with an mocked and raised eyebrow. He seemed to look impressived here.
"Alright. But when would you be asking her to marry you, so?" When? Oh boy..
"I, uh.." Marriage was into his plans. Theirs plans. They often talked about getting married, but not knowing when the real time would come out. But still.
"Pff. As I've thought-" Miguel scoffed off, when his partner tried to justified himself with a lame descision.
"I just need to perfect ring and I'll drop down onto one knee, don't worry-"
"Haha.." Miguel had chuckled over his partner's annoyed face.
"Don't laugh! I'll do it-"
"You might as well ask her out now.." Miguel's brown eyes had shifted out from behind him, with nod.
"Ask me out, onto what?" Tina's voice had sounded back once the dark and tall man had whirled around to see a with shouldered blond brownish locks and green eyes with a blue longsleeved blouse and dark pants and heels walking toward their desk with her coat one arm as well with her purse that was on her shoulder. Despite how many times he stared back over her, Tina had always managed to take his breath away, ever since their own meeting in the Crete Island when he had spend a few days over to his parents's village until he had meet her. Christina Vrourelaki. And to which it didn't always as seemed the best of his family's strongly desires and not as much for hers as well. After all, they've hated each other for many years and over an deadly vendetta.
But not them. They loved each other, so dearly.
Like he said to Miguel; The children don't necessarily have to re-live the misery that their families lived through them. He and Tina were free to live happily and to love with one another. After all, they were on their own and living terms. And to be free on loving one another. No permission required from anybody. He was a proud detective and she was working as the new medical examiner here at the 125th precinct of New York. Where everything barely even stops for a second.
But as long they were together, it all mattered for them both. Us against the world, he once had said to Tina, when they had no other choice but leave everything behind and start a new life. Together.
"Uh, uh..On a drive road. The weather is getting pretty bad with the storming snow and all that." Orfeas had gulped up hard as he pushed back his chair and stood up to her height. Oh boy, he looked like a idiot. When Tina just smiled as she looked up at him with her eyes, teasingly. But how beautiful she looked with that dark and smoked eyeliner and blue eye shadow that made her green eyes look bigger as they could look through him.
"And you think I need some comfort from you? Was it what you've thought?"
"Better two people stuck together than one alone, throughtout the storm, no?" He blurbed out for defense.
"Might be. We would bring some warmt to one to another. I certainly wouldn't mind if you're with me." She smirked at him back as she gave him a peck of her sweet kisses up to his lips and Orfeas had totally forgot how his day had begun. How bad and stressfull it had been when he could always comfort towards Tina's arms. The woman whom he has plans to spend the rest of his life with. Forever. He leaned and dipped his head over when his lips had meet her awaited ones when he heard the phone ringing over from the corner his hearing and through it, it was his partner's voice that now sounded serious now.
"Yes. I understand. Firefighters and the ambulance has been called so, as I presume to be, no?" Orfeas had pulled apart from his girlfriend and turned to look over Miguel's face and to which he formed up a frown over his features now. Thoughtfull as he looked and listened to his phone."Did the old man gave a name? Anything?"
"Hey, Miguel, what's wrong?" But Miguel had stood deaf to his partner's questionning stare as he took an pen and a notepad and began to write down the information he needed to have.
"Alright, alright. You said there was a dead body? No. A dead body and a man uncounscious. Car accident, I presume? They've been brought up to the hospital. How bad?" His dark eyebrows narrowed in questioning as he nodded again and nodded to the voice.
"Looks like there's trouble awaiting for you guys, here.." Tina had dropped out as she and Orfeas still looked over Miguel who've had taken the call.
"And for you too. Might as well push our plan away for now." He added up back with a tired sigh. Oh man. He really wanted to get away for this time and propose to his girlfriend, until an surprising case had jinxed things up. Once again.
"Alright. My partner and I would drive over there to meet you up there. Might as well bring up back-up. The new medical examiner is here as well too. Tell anybody here to not touch anything here, and especially the dead body and the man. Thank you, again." Miguel had followed back as he hung his phone. "Sorry to tell you this buddy, but I think your plans with your girlfriend might have to wait now. There's a crime scene waiting over for us, might as well bring her with you."
"I've figured out. Where is the location, exactly?"
"Just a few blocks away from Manathan airport. A few meters away from the bridge until the car could cross the barrier through here-"
"At this weather like now? The snow still hasn't stopped ever since it started from last night, Miguel! Who has been this stupid to keep onto driving at this time, around?" Orfeas had argued over Tina's presense here as she checked them both, concerned.
"Not my dead grandmother, sure.." Miguel had followed up as he put his phone into his pocket and reached up for his winter jacket coat."Looks like we might have work to do. We have one dead man and another who is at Benjamin Hospital. For head and ribs injuries. They looked very severe according from the officer. Said even the car accident looked supscious so, they've called the cops. Well, one old man who stoped for lunch had witnessed the accident and called for help."
"Did they ID the guys over the accident?"
"Not yet the dead guy, but they sure did with the other, though." Miguel had followed back as he finally put his coat on.
"Who is in fact?"
"A man who used to be long gone from many years ago and had his fingerprints on not only one but six cases, many years ago. You've heard about it, from the precinct-."
"Just give me a name, so, we'll get over it, already!" His partner was getting a little hesitated as he reached over his own winter coat and scarf. His partner dropped this answer with a grunt and digusted expression.
"Vincent Keller."
Yup, what a day it had been.
...
So Beasties, what did you think? Let me know.
