Hiccup's pov

Toothless and I were doing some recon for any sign of Viggo and his hunters. But I also had to get away from the edge, the twins were giving me a headache. I've been having strange dreams the past few weeks, they were of my mother. But that wasn't all, I saw that Viggo was there as well. I would talk to my dad but he never likes it when I bring up mom.

So far, nothing except for an island that was giving out smoke. I pulled out my spyglass to take a look at the island and saw a small campfire on the beach. Someone is on that island. "Hey, bud. Let's check it out," I said to Toothless.

We raced to the island, it seems to look harmless and safe. Once we landed, I saw what looked like a small campsite. Someone must live here but who? There were a few dragons nests around and even barbs from a Razorwhip that looked shedded. Just then, I heard someone singing, a female voice that sounds like an angel. "Who is that?" I asked.

Toothless and I followed the voice to a nest of baby Nadders. There was a girl around my age, she was singing to the Nadders and calming them down. She has emerald green eyes, long dark brown hair, and the voice of an angel from Valhalla. She was beautiful, 'No, no, snap out of it, you can't just fall in love with a random girl.' I thought.

Toothless and I stayed hidden from her as I heard every word from her voice. She seemed lonely, I wonder what happened to her.

Dixie:

If you were with me now

I'd find myself in you

If you were with me now

You're the only one who knew

All the things we planned to do

I want to live my life

The way you said I would

With courage as my light

Fighting for what's right

Like you made me believe I could

And I will fly on my father's wings

To places, I have never been

There is so much I've never seen

And I can feel his heartbeat still

And I will do great things

On my father's wings

This world I'll never see

My dreams that just won't be

This dragon's stride

With one days ride

Will have covered more

Distance than me

But I will fly on my father's wings

To places, I have never been

There is so much I've never seen

And I can feel his heartbeat still

And I will do great things

On my father's wings

Someday with his spirit to guide me

And his memory beside me

I will be free to

Fly on my father's wings

To places, I have never been

There is so much I've never seen

And I can feel his heartbeat still

And I will do great things

On my father's wings

On my father's wings

She's fantastic, and she tames dragons just like me. I saw her walking away and I tried to follow but I couldn't with Toothless pulling on my leg. "Toothless, let go! We are gonna help her not hurt her." I stated.

Toothless took his mouth off my leg but I stumbled out of the bushes and into a Monstrous Nightmare nest. The Nightmare didn't look too happy to see me in its nest. It was about to attack me when Toothless jumped in and tackled the Nightmare. They started fighting as I was trying to break them up, but nothing worked. "Toothless, stop!" I shouted.

The Nightmare swinged its tail and sending me flying. I hit the ground hard and everything went black.

Dixie's pov:

Shira and I have spent months here on this island. She's the only Razorwhip I've seen on here, I'm not sure if there are any more. The other dragons will sometimes accept her into their packs. Since it's the spring, some of the dragons lay their eggs here and it was my job to help protect them. I've been doing my rounds checking on the dragons and the new norms when I heard a dragon cry. "Come on, girl, let's check it out," I said to Shira

Shira and I ran to where we heard the distress call, it was a Monstrous Nightmare battling a Night Fury? I thought they were gone. This one looks like a male, but he has a saddle and a fake tail fin. This didn't make sense, why would a Night Fury have a fake tail fin? "Shira, you get the Nightmare. I'll get the Night Fury." I ordered.

As Shira was pulling the Nightmare away, I ran in front of the Night Fury, trying to calm him down. This one's completely difficult he wouldn't settle down, not even the Sage Fruit I offered was affecting. I had to do something else. I pulled out a fish from my satchel then dropped my bow so that way he can trust me. The Night Fury started to calm down and started to walk towards the fish. I handed it to him but when he opened his mouth, I didn't see any teeth. "Toothless? I thought you had teeth?" I asked.

I saw his teeth appear in his mouth then gobbled the fish down in his mouth. 'Retractable teeth. Amazing.' I thought. The Night Fury finally calmed down. I asked him why was he fighting with the Monstrous Nightmare so he led me to a boy that was laying on the ground, unconscious. "Is this your rider?" I asked.

I got a closer look at this rider, he's the same age as me. He has amburn hair, freckles that covered the bridge of his nose, he looked too skinny which was bad. I also saw that he has a peg leg on his left leg. I had Shira take him back to my campsite as I headed to a small lake to fill a bucket up with fresh water. I saw the Night Fury groaning with worry for its rider. "I promise, I'll help him. I don't turn my back on those in need." I reassured the Night Fury.

I headed back to camp with the water. I saw Shira standing outside the tent like a guard as I asked her to move. I grabbed a small cloth and dipped it in the bucket then placed it on the boys forehead. He looks so peaceful, I haven't seen another person in a long time. But other dragon rider, that's something I never have seen.

I wasn't sure where he's from or if he's from my old home. I saw him starting to groan then he slightly opened his eyes, they were a wonderful forest green and full of trust. "He's just like me." I whispered.

I saw him looking at me, he jumped back like I was gonna hurt him. "It's ok. I'm not going to hurt you. My names Dixie, what's yours?" I slowly asked.

"My name is Hiccup. I'm a dragon rider and that's Toothless, my dragon and best friend." he answered.

Dixie: His real name is Toothless?

Hiccup: Yes. It's because of the fact that he has...

Dixie: Retractible teeth. I saw them when I was calming him down. He was really worried about you. You two share a special bond.

Hiccup: Yeah, we do.

I saw him looking at Shira and Toothless talking to each other.

Dixie: That's my dragon, Shira. She's a Razorwhip.

Hiccup: How do you know so much on training dragons?

Dixie: My father taught me a few tricks when I was a little girl. But the rest, I just picked up here on the island.

Hiccup: Your dad taught you?

Dixie: Mmhmm. I was a little girl when he taught me. He told me all the stories, different tricks and types. Sometimes, I would disobey my sister and our law of no flying dragons back home. I would go on night flights, they're so wonderful.

Hiccup: Sister?

Dixie: Yeah, my older sister became Queen of our tribe after my father passed. I got tired of living the life of a royal.

Hiccup: Why?

Dixie: Half the males on my island keep asking for my hand in marriage but I know they just want to taste of being a royal. The night I ran away from home was the same night my sister had an arranged marriage for me. If I do marry, I want it to be for love.

Hiccup: Well, I know a thing or two about being something your forced to be.

Dixie: How?

Hiccup: My dad wanted me to be like him, a killer. But I wasn't one of them. I met Toothless and he showed me that there's more to dragons than anyone in my village knows.

Dixie: Are you a runaway?

Hiccup: No, my dad changed. So did everyone in my village. Pretty soon, everyone back home had dragons of their own.

Dixie: If it were possible.

Hiccup: It is...

Dixie: Hiccup, people like my sister weren't meant to change. Some of us, were just born different. I grew tired of being shut out by my sister and my people, so I ran away. A storm hit my ship and I washed up here on this island. I adapted to the island and I've lived here for months.

Hiccup: Don't you miss your village?

Dixie: Sometimes. But I learn to live with it.

Hiccup: Why don't you come with me? I have a base that's not far from here, you can stay there for a while.

Dixie: Hiccup, I can't. I don't want to be a burden.

Hiccup: You aren't. It'll be my way of saying thank you for healing me.

Dixie: I guess it won't be so bad.

I helped Hiccup get to Toothless, I felt a weird feeling inside me. I couldn't shake it when I saw Hiccup. I can't be in love with him, am I?
