I know it's been too long since I've updated this. In all honestly, my life has gone down a different road and I'm dealing with what comes my way one step at a time. One of those steps is updating this story. I've got the next couple chapter already written out in my notebook. Just a matter of time till I type it up and post. I'm not one of those authors that updates often, but I try my best. Any who enough of me ranting.

Disclaimer: I don't own/make any profit from Inuyasha or Mumford and Sons.

Cold is the water
It freezes your already cold mind
Already cold, cold mind
And death is at your doorstep
And it will steal your innocence
But it will not steal your substance

But you are not alone in this

Timshel- Mumford and Sons.

Cold and sterile.

That was the first thing that came to her mind. Utterly cold. Hospitals were always cold and uncomfortable to her. Tears welt up in her bright blue eyes. She leaned against the wall, closing her eyes.

'Why?'

That was the only thing she wanted to ask Inuyasha. From what she barely knew, his life before they met wasn't all that pleasant. She knew she should have pressed him harder. To get him to open up more about his past. But in the end, she had respected his privacy.

"Are you Ms. Kagome Hirugashi?" a voice called out to her.

Kagome opened her eyes to see an older gentleman in a police uniform in front of her. Standing up from the wall, she wiped her eyes and gave a slight nod.

"Yes."

"Ms. Hirugashi, my name is Officer Smith." The officer said. "It's my understanding that you witnessed the deceased's suicide?"

"Inuyasha." Kagome snapped. "His name is Inuyasha, and no I didn't witness it. I heard it from outside the apartment door."

The officer looked at the woman in front of him. "I'm just trying to get an understanding of what happened, Mama."

Kagome just nodded.

"Now your relationship with the deceased," Officer Smith continued.

Kagome cleared her throat, "His name is Inuyasha. And as for our relationship, we were close friends."

Officer Smith gave her a skeptical look. "Do you know if he had any relatives?"

Kagome glanced downward to the floor. "He told me his parents died when he was younger, but he mentioned that he has half-brother. As far I know."

Office Smith wrote down the information in his booklet. "Thank you Ms. Hirugashi for your time. If there's anything else, someone from the station will contact you."

As he started to turn away, Kagome grabbed his arm.

"Wait!" She called out, "Don't you need someone to identify his body?"

Office Smith looked at the young woman in front of him. Those blue eyes of hers on the verge of tears. Breathing a heavy sigh, he gave in.

"Ms. Hirugashi, I will be honest with you. There is no way to identify your friend by facial features. We were barely able to identify through dental records."

Kagome let go of the officer's arm. Hearing the gun shot had shocked her, but hearing the extensive damage done was too much. Leaning against the wall, Kagome brought her hands to her face.

'Oh God Inuyasha, why would you do such a thing?' she thought.

A figure came up behind the police officer dismissing him from the sobbing woman. A hand clasped on Kagome's shoulder to comfort her. Looking up, she saw an shorter older gentleman. He looked like in his late seventies and balding. He gave her a weak smile.

"Ms. Hirugashi, would you like to accompany me to the cafeteria for a cup of coffee?" He asked.

A short walk and ten minutes later, Kagome and the older gentleman were sitting in at a table in the far part of the cafeteria. She couldn't help but stare at the coffee in front of her. She had no idea who this man was and what he wanted. The older gentleman cleared his throat.

"Ms. Hirugashi, my name is Myoga Takeda. I was Inuyasha's lawyer."

Kagome looked up at the man, "If this about his funeral costs..."

Myoga held up his hand. "That has all been taken care of."

"Then what is it that you wanted to discuss with me?"

Myoga took a sip of his coffee then set the cup down. "Inuyasha contacted me some months ago about wanting to set his priorities in order if anything should happen to him." He paused for a moment. "If I knew what was going to happen, I would have tried to stop him. Or contacted you or his brother."

Kagome stared at her coffee again. "He never gave a sign that he was suicidal."

"Anyway," Myoga continued. "I have yet to contact Inuyasha's brother, but I'm going to assume he will show up very soon. When he does show up, I will need to go over Inuyasha's will and last testament with the both of you, after the funeral of course."

Kagome remained silent, only listening to what Myoga had to say. Getting up from his seat, "Ms. Hirugashi, if you need someone to talk to, my door is always open."

"Would it be alright if I got some of my belongings from his apartment?" Kagome murmured. Myoga looked at the young woman. Her blue eyes were blood shot and puffy from her tears and her face was pale.

"I'll see what I can do to get you clearance," He said. "But in the mean time, I think you should go home and try to get some rest." With that Myoga left Kagome sitting at the table.

She looked at the cold cup of coffee before her. Her thoughts were scattered and in disarray. Then it hit her, a sudden urge to go the Inuyasha's apartment. Getting up from the table, Kagome grabbed her bag and rushed out.
