–Slowly The Curtain Rises–
"Hey Kacchan!" Izuku called as he ran to meet his friend at the U.A. gate.
"Finally, took you long enough," Katsuki harrumphed, shoving his hands in his pockets and turning to walk off. "Let's go, my parents are waiting."
"Sorry, I talked to All Might," Izuku revealed, as nonchalantly as if Katsuki should have expected it.
The blonde stopped and turned back to look at his friend, eyes wide. "What's that mean?"
"C'mon," Izuku said, grabbing his friend's arm and pulling him along. "I found All Might. In U.A. I told him about my quirk and my theories."
"Well, what'd he say?" Katsuki only moved his eyes to look at his friend.
"Later," Izuku dodged the question, and before Katsuki could press it he ran forward and called, "Hey Mrs. Bakugo! Sorry we're a little late!"
"Jeez, it's been almost 10 minutes since the other students stopped coming out," Mitsuki crossed her arms. She'd been waiting next to the Bakugos' car. "Not in any trouble, I hope."
"No, sorry," Izuku scratched his head. "Wanted to chat with a teacher."
"No need to dwell on it," Masaru said, stepping out of the driver's seat. "Now let's get going, Inko is waiting."
Soon the four of them were en route to the Midoriya apartment. The whole ride, Katsuki's interest in Izuku and All Might's meeting was like an itch just out of his reach. His parents' constant questions about U.A. made it impossible to get any hints out of his friend. And that didn't change once the group arrived at the small apartment Inko and Izuku call home.
"Welcome home my U.A. student!" Inko jumped out the door and hugged Izuku, before looking up at the others and continuing, "How are you all doing? Come in! Dinner's almost ready!"
Even though most of the workout equipment was kept at the Bakugo household, Izuku kept some basic weights and mats at their place. Inko, with her son's encouragement, had taken advantage of them. If it wasn't evident in her youthful figure, the way she darted back and forth in the kitchen without breaking a sweat showed the fruits of her activeness.
"And here we are!" Inko called as she brought the platter, adorned with 5 bowls, over to the table. "My famous homemade katsudon! But with a little twist this time. Getting experimental, ya know?"
"Hmmm," Katsuki considered the bowl as Inko set it down for him. It looked like the regular katsudon he'd had plenty of times at the Midoriya household: fried pork cutlet sat atop a healthy serving of fried rice. "What kind of twist?"
"Oh my GOODNESS Inko!" his mom's exclamation interrupted his pondering. "What did you put in this?! Whatever you're experimenting with, it WORKS!"
Masaru simply nodded his head emphatically red while he kept chewing.
"Great!" Inko blushed with a wide smile, clearly happy with their reactions.
Katsuki picked up the first piece of pork along with a clump of fried rice with his chopsticks. Upon taking a bite, his mouth was filled with 10x the usual flavor he'd come to expect. But pretty quickly he recognized the sensation and turned to Izuku.
"Is it the same as that pill you gave me?"
"Hm?" Izuku glanced at his friend sitting beside him. "Yeah, I made a powdered version, like a seasoning. It doesn't have the extra nutrients though, just the flavor enhancement."
"Whiz kid being a whiz? What else is new," Mitsuki laughed in between bites.
"So, how was school?" Inko asked as she also started digging in. "Exciting to be at U.A.?"
As the dinner was quickly gulped down, the students recounted the day's events to their parents. The teacher, the quirk assessment, their classmates...
"And I saw All Might there!" Izuku blurted excitedly, pulling Katsuki's eyes to snap onto him. "I knew he'd be teaching there! It's so exciting!"
"Did you get to talk to him?" Masaru asked as they all leaned forward slightly.
"Ah, well, not much," Izuku scratched the back of his head. "It was really cool to see him in person though!"
The head scratch caught the attention of Inko. Despite everything going in Izuku's brain, he hadn't realized it was his tell for lying. Katsuki's attention was pulled wire-thin himself, only because he knew there was more to it.
"I'm 50% sure All Might is in huge trouble."
Katsuki had an awful feeling that Izuku's suspicion was more than just a conspiracy theory. But that had to wait, as the time had come for the Bakugo family to leave.
"I'll meet you tomorrow, okay?" Izuku told him. "Get some sleep, tomorrow will be tougher than today."
"Yeah," Katsuki nodded. "See you later."
"Hey," Izuku said one more time. "I'll text you later, alright?"
Katsuki smiled and nodded. "Good. I'll hear from ya soon then."
"C'mon kid," Mitsuki called over. "Your dad works early tomorrow, we've gotta get moving."
"See ya tomorrow Icchan!" Katsuki grinned and waved.
"Bye Kacchan!" Izuku matched the wave and smile.
Once the door was closed, Inko crossed her arms and asked, "So, what did you and All Might really talk about?"

"FINALLY!" Eijiro exclaimed as he watched the clock. "Basic hero training! I'm so pumped!"
"I get watcha mean!" Mina agreed, shadow boxing next to him. "Regular subjects are bor~ing!"
"So nerve-wracking!" Ochako clenched her fists. "I wonder who's teaching us..."
"For such an important course, it must be tasked to a very qualified individual," Tenya proposed.
"But like, who's a high-profile hero that's gonna take time off from hero work to teach?" Denki asked. "Midnight would be perfect if you ask me."
"Yeah, Midnight would be... perfect..." Minoru salivated slightly.
Katsuki glanced at Izuku and whispered, "You-know-who?"
"He's probably with the 3rd-years, I'd guess," Izuku sighed with his hand on his chin. "Maybe it's–"
A deep rumble shook the room as someone grabbed the door handle from outside. The students immediately silenced, though the energy in the room was palpable.
"I AAAAMMMMMMM... ENTERING THROUGH THE DOOR LIKE A TEACHER SHOULD!"
Alongside his thunderous voice, the imposing figure of All Might entered the classroom with a strong stride. He stopped in the middle of the front end of the class, and turned to face the shocked students. There were murmurs of disbelief among them but most just stared at the legendary hero. That included Izuku and Katsuki, who were also the only two to notice All Might's momentary glance at Izuku.
"No time to waste young students!" All Might began. "Basic hero training is the class that will fundamentally prepare you for hero work! Every class will be a bit different, and today we start with battle training!"
As All Might held up a card labeled "Battle!", the class was once again taken with murmurs and gasps. With the flourish of a small remote, the number one hero activated a series of motorized shelves that extended from the wall, holding cases labeled 1 through 20.
"For today's basic hero training, you'll need these! In accordance with the quirk registry and your own requests made during your application process, we've had these hero costumes made! Go get changed and meet me at training ground beta!"
Izuku's costume was a sleek, tight-fitting body suit with a pattern resembling All Might's Bronze Age outfit. The main body was blue-ish green with black accents, along with white gloves and boots. It was covered in tough yet flexible padding and fitted with several pockets on the suit, along with a utility belt. The hands and feet had special grips, and there were metal bands along his knuckles.
Finally, several small cameras were placed around the outside of the suit. Three along the spine, one on the chest, two on the abdomen, one on each shoulder, one on each elbow, one on the front of the belt, one on the back of the belt, one on the front of each knee, and finally one on each palm. All 16 cameras were on a direct feed to a special pair of glasses he wore. There was a 17th and 18th camera on the front of each lens. When he wore the glasses, he could see nine video feeds on each lens. In the middle of each lens were the cameras on the glasses. Then each side displayed 8 other videos around it. With his quirk, Izuku could process all of the screens at once. The glasses themselves, visually, were rounded sports glasses with black rims and blue-ish green tinted lenses.
Katsuki's costume was also a sleek bodysuit with the same tough padding, though the pattern was less based on All Might. It was orange, with a black X across the chest and black lines going down each arm and leg. The gloves and boots were green with orange grips. He also had grenade-shaped bracers on each forearm in the same green color. They could store his sweat to build up a huge explosion on command, and each bracer also had an extension that he could put his hands into to produce targeted ranged attacks. He wore a simple black mask with jagged black-and-orange protrusions at the back, mimicking cartoon explosions.
"Nice costume Kacchan!" Izuku smiled at his friend.
"You too," Katsuki grinned back. "So you can see in every direction?"
"Yup, pretty much no blind spots," Izuku nodded.
"Woah, that true?" Ochako asked, walking up alongside them.
"U-Um, yeah," Izuku glanced away, but it didn't do much good. Because, you know, no blind spots. Scratching his cheek, he commented, "Your costume is–"
"Hot," Minoru commented from behind.
"Ack! It's embarrassing!" She whined, slightly covering the tight-fitting suit. "I didn't want such a tight outfit, it's the costume designer's fault!"
"I think it's super cute!" Mina jumped in, putting her arm around Ochako's shoulder.
"Hey Bakugo, manly fit!" Eijiro bumped into him. "Love the military style!"
"Yeah, thanks," Katsuki quirked an eyebrow at Eijiro's outfit. "They forget your shirt?"
"Nah man, showing off the manly physique!" he hardened for a moment for emphasis.
"Alright, looks like everybody is here," All Might announced.
"Excuse me," Tenya's voice came from a heavy armored suit. "This is where we took the entrance exam, correct? Does that mean we'll be performing cityscape maneuvers?"
"Good guess, but wrong guess!" All Might shut him down. "The most televised villain attacks take place outdoors, so that's what you're most familiar with. But most of the dirtiest villains will be found indoors! Black market deals, human trafficking, most organized crime, and plenty other kinds of villains will be found here! So you'll be taking part in anti-personnel indoor battle training! You will all be split into teams of two, and be pitted against each other 2v2 style!"
"No basic training first? Ribbit," Tsuyu asked.
"Experience is the best teacher! You'll get more out of this than the entrance ceremony. Fighting real people is different than robots."
"How is victory decided?"
"Can I win by blowing up the building?"
"I-Is expulsion on the line?"
"How are teams decided?"
"Isn't my cape dashing?"
"HOLD ON!" All Might held out his hand. "My quirk isn't super-hearing, so give me a moment! So, let's see... Firstly, the teams will be decided by drawing tickets. Please don't needlessly blow up buildings. And you probably won't get expelled. That is a dashing cape. Okay, and..."
The class watched as All Might took out a piece of paper to read.
"You'll be divided into hero teams and villain teams! The villains will have a nuclear bomb inside the building, and the heroes must save the city! There's a limited amount of time for the heroes to either capture the villains or secure the bomb! Villains either must protect themselves and the bomb, or capture the heroes. Teams will be decided by... I already said that, huh."
"Is lottery really the best way to decide teams?" Tenya asked.
"Heroes often have to team up with whoever's available in emergencies," Izuku explained.
"Yeah, what he said," All Might nodded, then he coughed into his fist. "Anyways, let's get to it!"

Katsuki and Izuku made eye contact. Izuku's smile never wavered, but Katsuki's expression was one of silent determination.
"Wait," Katsuki's eyes widened in realization. He remembered the name 'Minoru Mineta' being the lowest ranked in the quirk test.
"Nice, I scored 'Splosion Man!"
Katsuki glanced over to the short purple boy who'd said that. "What'd you just call me?"
"'S-Splosion Man, he's from an old video game," Minoru gulped, hoping Katsuki was a friendly guy. "H-He makes explo–"
"Shut it, I got the point," Katsuki put a hand up towards the boy, while using his other hand to pinch the bridge of his nose. 'I'm so fucked.'
–Next Up: HEROES OF TOMORROW–
Story Supplement Corner!
A Request!
"Excuse me," All Might said politely as he entered the office.
"Ah, Toshinori," Nedzu smiled as his friend approached his desk. "Jitters before your first day of teaching? Advice on approaching students without intimidating them? Something about Togata, perhaps?"
"Not Togata, no," he shook his head. "Another boy in the hero course."
"Oh?" Nedzu tilted his head for a moment before a fit of laughter. "Oh, Sasaki will be interested to know I think!"
"I know, he was very insistent on Togata," All Might sighed. "But something's come up and, well... There's something in my heart, screaming that I should look into this other boy."
"A hunch?" the principal attempted to clarify.
"A feeling," All Might mused. "Déjà vu, almost. It's as if fate is calling."
"So, what would you like me to do about it?"
"I know it's last minute, but I'd like you to transfer me to Class 1-A, to teach Basic Hero Training."
Notes: So, the battle training will be in two chapters. Next chapter will go through most of the fights, but the one after that will be more focused on Kacchan and Icchan's fight, along with the afterwards.
I promise, the teams were randomly made, and then they were randomly put against each other. I didn't mess with it at all. I wasn't really planning on Kacchan and Icchan fighting until the sports festival but this'll work.
Also, I'll try to finish the next chapter by next week. But if it's not posted by July 3rd, expect it to come July 9-10th instead.
As always, feedback and input are greatly appreciated, and I'll see you in the next chapter!
