"WHERE ARE YOU AND THE KIDS"

Korra looked at the phone in confusion, not sure what Asami was freaking out about

"Th-they're with me at my house remember?" Korra said remembering her earlier conversation with Jinora.

"Korra what do you mean? I remember we specifically talked about you dropping them off, why the hell did you bring them to your house?! What are you trying to do?" Asami yelled over the phone.

The boys could hear their mom yelling but couldn't make out what she was saying. Dakota instantly felt the fear creeping on him. His plan was ruined with just one phone call. Kato took a look at his brother, seeing the dread on his eyes.

"It's okay bro, I'll take blame too." Kato said, patting his shoulder. Korra stepped into the hall and slightly closed their door.

"A-Asami, please calm down, I talked-"

"Calm down?! How can I calm down? You had one job." Asami yelled through the phone.

"Asami! Listen!" Korra yelled slightly. This finally got Asami to pipe down.

"I was going to drop them off, when we got there Jinora wasn't there, I called her and she said that you said it was fine if they came to my house. Also," she whispered, "I don't believe they found anything, they think I have my own children." She said peeking back to the room. "Listen I'm not sure how the confusion happened but I'll bring them back now and then we can talk, okay?" Korra said, trying to keep Asami calm.

Asami sighed before giving her answer. "Okay Korra, I'll see you when you get here, I'll tell Jinora to come over also so we can talk this through."

"Okay my lov- I mean Asami." Korra tried to quickly cover up what she said. She hung up the phone and went back to the boys.

"Okay guys your mom's home so it's time to go!" Korra said, trying to stay upbeat.

"Okay." Dakota mumbled, still feeling uneasy. He walked after Korra and exited the room. Kato was on his way out when he spotted a photo laying down with a few words on the back. He didn't have time to read it all but he made out the words "Love Asami." He quickly stuffed it in his pocket and was about to exit when he met face to face with Korra.

"Everything all good?" She asked, wondering why he was still in the room.

"Y-yeah I was just checking out the skateboard." He lied, quickly. Korra smiled,

"Yeah, maybe we can all go skate sometime." She suggested. "Let's go." She finished as she walked out.

Dakota felt sick the whole car ride, he knew he messed up big time, this time. He was already fresh off punishment from his fight, now he wondered what would be his next punishment. His stomach tightened with every familiar turn to his house. "Oh spirits, here we go." He thought as they finally pulled into the driveway. As he felt the car go in park he slowly took off his seatbelt and looked back over to his brother. Kato leaned in and whispered,

"At least we'll both take the blame," He half laughed.

Korra pulled her seat belt off and opened her door, as she closed it she saw Asami leaning against the back of her car waiting on them. "Hey boys." She said and they came up, she gave them a hug. "How was your time and Korra's?"

Kato figured that his mom must not know just yet and took the liberty to throw in a casual joke. "Ya know I thought we'd blow off homework and go to the skate park, but nooo Korra made us do our homework." He fake pouted. "I guess she was doing the responsible thing" he said air quoting the word 'responsible'. Asami chuckled and Korra chimed in.

"Sheesh man this was my first time watching you guys, at least wait a few more times so we can sneak and do it" she laughed.

Asami playfully rolled her eyes, "Alright boys get inside and wash up, I'll be in, in a few." Dakota and Kato slowly walked inside as they waited for their impending doom. As they walked in the house Kato could hear Korra say "I can explain."

"Sami I can explain, I-I, we came here but then we couldn't get in, then I called Jinora, then-"

"Korra it's okay, I called Jinora after I called you. She told me what happened. I'm sorry for blowing up at you."

"Oh okay so what really happened? She told me you said they could come to my house." Korra said leaning on the back of the car next to Asami.

"Well the lil geniuses in there, somehow faked text messages between them and me and sent it to Jinora. Jinora asked them to send proof so they sent the fake texts. That's how all this miscommunication happened."

Korra hung her head and laughed. "Were we really played by some fake messages? Why are these kids so smart nowadays?" She said looking over to Asami. Asami could only shake her head in disbelief.

"Man Kor I don't even know, this is what happens when you raise tablet kids." Asami said jokingly.

Korra laughed and smiled. "So what are we gonna do with things one and two in there?"

"Mmm well, maybe no games or tv, for a couple days? I mean this was serious but not super bad. They didn't find anything out, did they?" Asami asked.

"Um, no I don't think so, they asked if I had kids and I told them I had two boys. They said they wanted to play with them sometime. So I think I led them off our tracks for a bit." Korra said switching legs.

"Ugh, I hope so, I was hoping we'd all get a little closer before they found out." Asami said, rubbing her forehead.

"Well maybe after their punishment, we can go do some family activities? It's starting to get cold out so maybe we could go do something festive." Korra suggested.

"Yes, let's plan it. Maybe at our coffee date tomorrow?" Asami said, leaning her head on Korra's shoulder. Korra smiled and leaned to kiss her temple. "Yeah, let's do it."

Kato slowly closed his room door after his mom dealt out their punishments, it was your usual run of the mill punishment, it was actually less time than he'd usually get. But never mind that for now. He slowly backed onto his bed and slid out the picture he took from Korra, his mom-, no Korra's house. He was defitne that Dakota was right all along. Turning the picture over and fully reading the message on the back. It was a bit hard because it was in cursive, but he was able to make it out after a minute. It read, "Your beautiful sons, when they were five. -Love Asami" He turned the photo over again and remembered this was their first trip with their Grandpa Hiroshi. He took them fishing and to a ranch. After finding this all out he wasn't too sure how to feel. He started feeling an anger bubble inside of him. Kato crumpled the picture and threw it down, huffing. His door creaked open and Dakota stood watching him.

"Dude, chill it's only for a couple days man, you've had worse punishments." He chuckled. Kato just rolled his eyes. Dakota looked on the floor at the now crushed picture. "Bro what's the matter?" He said as he picked up and unfurled the picture, "You act like this punishmen- Woah- what's this? Dakota asked, looking between the picture of them and his brother.

Kato crossed his arms, "Man just look at the back." Dakota flipped over the picture and eyes the wording on the back.

``No way, '' He said astounded. "This is- is like legit proof." Dakota said walking next to his brother smiling, then looked at his brother questioningly, "What are you so mad about? We found out who our other mother is. What's the problem?"

"What do you mean what's the problem? She left us. Not the other way around." Kato said brushing past his brother to go sulk on the window seal.

"But bro-."

"There is not but, when you asked me about this a time ago I told you I could never forgive her. It just sucks it was Korra, she was cool, or so I thought."

"But-"

"But nothing, she left us, and that's all too it. Just leave bro I don't want to be bothered."

"Whatever man," Dakota said as he left the room, before fully leaving, he turned to his brother, "You're wrong you know."

'Wrong about what, Dakota?' Asami's voice came from behind. Dakota froze but quickly recuperated. "Kato's taking the grounding to heart but I told him he's had worse." Dakota fake laughed. Asami slid the door open more.

"Hey Kato, trust me you guys got off light this punishment, and no worries after this you guys will get to hang with Korra a lot more!" She said happily.

"Yeah whatever." Kato said, looking at the ceiling. Asami looked concerned but she just took it that he was upset about the punishment.

"Okay Mr. Mad, I'll leave you alone." She said as she closed his room door back.

"We really get to see more of her mom!" Dakota said with a bit more excitement than his usual self.

"Yes of course sweetie, she said she had so much fun with you guys." Asami said, leaning down to kiss his forehead. She walked back up to the living room leaving Dakota smiling to himself, despite what his brother thought he was ready to fill in the missing piece he had in his heart.
