Mako hadn't realized a week had already passed since he decided to take a leap of faith and jump on a boat to find June. But what a week it was, it was as if the 10 years were a mere 10 mins. He knew he'd loved her for a very long time but couldn't give it a name until now. He had only a couple more days left but he wanted it to never end.
"Light peered through the hotel curtains, making Mako's eyes flutter open. He resisted a stretch so as not to wake his sleeping beauty June. Sun rays illuminating hazel eyes and he turned slightly into June taking in a fresh breath of her.
"Don't get high over there, Water Boy." She mumbled to him. He slightly chuckled.
"Did I wake you moon girl?"
"No, I've been up since the moon disappeared into the sun. I've just been waiting on you." She smirked.
"Wait no longer." He said grinning and as he pulled her closer, kissing her forehead. He then felt a shift in June. He pulled back and peered down. Someone as rock hard as June never shows her true emotions.
"What is it?" He questioned.
"What do you mean?" she feigned pulling away.
"You know what I mean, June. Your aura. it changed." He said sitting up.
"Oh look at you, spirit boy." She said sarcastically, rolling her eyes. "You meet me twice and you know my aura, hmmph." She rolled her eyes.
Mako winced but he wasn't going to let that hurt him, he finally found her.
"So what? I know something just changed in your mood so let me in."
"See that's the problem. Why should I let you in?"
"Because…because we-"
"Because what Mako? Cause we had good talks 10 years ago and a good fuck now, I'm somehow suppose to let you in?" She said, fully pulling the covers back to get up. She quickly grabbed her things, pulling her shirt over her head. Mako got up and grabbed her hand.
"Because I love you, and I know you love me too. And I know that's hurting you in your heart." He said with soft eyes. She looked at their hands and pulled away.
"Goodbye waterboy" she said as she left. He stood there, knowing this wasn't right. He rubbed the back of his head and laid back down, breathing out hard in frustration.

It'd been a couple days since Kato found out that Korra was his mom and he was still angry. Asami figured something was bothering him but he wouldn't budge. Kato was angry at the world but angry the most because he couldn't let anyone know how he felt other than Dakota, and he was happy to find out Korra was their mom. Which made Kato angry at Dakota. By the third day he stopped talking to Dakota fully, and only gave his mom short answers.
Asami finally stopped them on their way out to school. "Dakota, go get in the car." He nodded and went along. Kato was about to step out the door until he felt a hand on his shoulder. He rolled his eyes and turned around.
"Is everything okay, Kato? You've been mad since you got punished and your punishment ended a day ago. What's up?"
"Nothing." He said monotone.
"Nothing?" Asami repeated.
"Yes, nothing." He said getting frustrated.
"Okay, okay." She said, backing off, "I'll leave it alone for now." She pushed him to the car and drove off
Asami pulled up to school in their usual week routine and dropped the kids off, pausing again to ask Kato what was wrong. He rolled his eyes and huffed and tried to get out, not before Asami grabbed his arm.
"Listen to me young man, I've tried to be nice, but now I'm fed up. You've been walking around like your whole world has fallen apart. What is your problem?"
He rolled his eyes again. "Nothing, just figure out who my other mother is and keep her away from us." He said vaguely and hopped out after Dakota. Asami sat their stunned not sure how to take what he said. "Does he know? What could he even possibly mea-" She was taken out of thought by the horn of another parent trying to move up. She waved her apologies and moved off. She drove to Korra's job as this was her final week working there. She was excited to see Korra but the nagging feeling of Kato's words sat in her stomach.
"Should I even bring Korra around anymore? Does he even really know? Or is it just some growing pains he's having. Stop Asami. Korra's back you don't have to handle this by yourself, just tell her, her son is acting a whole fool and see how she handles it." With that she smiled and let the feeling go for now. She pulled into the parking lot and a smile ran across her face as she saw her beau waiting for her in the usual routine over the last week. She gently stepped out of her suv and was met with a hand around her waist. "Wasting no time, huh?" Asami smiled, turning her head to the side. Korra smirked and kissed cheek gingerly.
"Nope, nope I was ready to see you. How was your morning and the boys?" Korra asked, pulling back slightly.
"Wellll…" Asami dragged on. "One son is great and your other son is acting like a straight plum fool, if you ask me." She said gathering her purse as they began walking into the building.
"Oh Lord, Kato? He's still upset bout the punishment?" Korra asked.
"Well, yes, no, more so he's mad at you." Asami snickered, walking away.
"Hey! That's not funny." Korra chuckled catching up to her. "But why is he mad at me? I thought I was like the cool big cousin right now. Thought I was more liked than you." Korra fake pouted, as she held the door open for Asami.
"Well, that's where you're wrong." Asami said walking into the elevator. "But in all seriousness, I think these boy's of ours have caught on."
"What makes you say that?"
"Well, Kato said 'Figure out who my other mother is and tell her to stay away from me.'" Asami repeated.
"Fuckkk." Korra groaned out as the elevator dinged and opened.
"Were yall just doing the nasty in the elevator." Bolin said standing in front of the two.
"Here we go." Korra playfully rolled her eyes. "Excuse me sir, we actually have something productive to talk about." Korra said, pulling Asami past Bolin.
"Yeah, productive my ass." He said as the elevator doors closed.
Korra pulled Asami into her office and sat down. "Well what should we do about Kato? Should I stop coming around or come around more?"
"See that's the dilemma I was faced with too. I wasn't sure, to me, personally. I think we should stick with the plan and have you come around more so that they can build a relationship with you until we tell them. But we also have to think about the boys first too."
"Hmm," Korra thought, "I know their summer league for basketball is coming up. What if I start training them? Gives us a lil bonding time without going overboard.
"That might just work Ms. Korra." Asami said smiling.
"Ya think so Ms. Sato?" Korra said smirking, getting up to close her office blinds…

Mako finally got up and packed his bag with determination. He knew he didn't want to lose her again and he knew they were meant to be. He quickly ran out of his hotel room, hoping he didn't leave anything behind. He ran out the front doors of the hotel and rushed to his rental car. Mako shoved his things inside and drove off. He didn't even know where to start when he left but he knew he was going to find her. He checked all the places that he and her went but to no avail. It has been an hour since he rushed through the lobby like a wild man dropping items and bumping into people. A sorry here and a "please watch your step' as someone was about to step on one of his items.
Mako sat in his car, elbow propped on the window panel with his forefinger and thumb to his lips thinking. "Where could she be?" he thought aloud. Then a passing thought crossed his mind, he doubted it but what the hell? He pulled off tires cutting across the gravel, skirting off.
After a while he pulled up to what stood beautifully in front of him, the cave. He thought it was a long shot but she had to be there. He slammed his car door open and ran inside the cave's mouth. He was slowed by the vibrations of the cave, pounding and speeding the rhythm of his heart. He held his chest not used to the feel of the cave he felt 10 years ago. But he managed through every step he got used to the thumping.
"June!" He called out using the flashlight of his phone to shimmer off of the crystals. He walked further into the cave constantly calling out her name. His flashlight caught movement from the right side of his eye and he turned his head and spotted June. He walked up to her and noticed a glimmer of water on her face.
He wiped away the tear, "No need to cry, you know as much as I do, we should be together." He placed her hand on his heart. "You feel that? Our hearts and the cave are on the same vibration, I've known this since the first time I came 10 years ago. This isn't some one week honeymoon June." He finished. She looked at him for a moment not saying anything. Mako wasn't sure what was running through her mind but he knew he couldn't go another 10 years, let alone ten minutes without june.
"June, come back to Republic City with me." he pleaded, She placed his hand on the cup of her cheek and smiled softly.
"But- this is my home Mako I- can-
"Don't think June, just come back with me, we can work this out. Trust me June." He said, stepping back, reaching his hand out for her.
She stepped forward, reaching her hands to his. "Okay, I'll come."
