"2 on 2. Come on, let's go." Deeks said as he, Kensi, Sam, and Callen were gathered in the gym playing basketball.
"Ball in." Callen said as he passed it to Deeks.
"Ball in." Deeks replied back before passing it back to Callen who immediately started to charge towards the basket.
The four began playing. As the game went on, Callen and Sam began bending the rules slightly.
"What the hell, hey hey hey, out of bounds, clearly."
Not from where I'm standing. Sam said.
"Probably because you're on the other side of the court." Kensi snapped back. "Come on, he was clearly out of bounds!"
"Not anymore." Callen said as he drove towards the basket.
"Hit me, G." Sam called as Callen passed him the ball and Sam scored.
"You guys are so annoying."
"Kens, it's just a game."
"Yea, so play it right! Games have rules!"
"Kens. Take it easy." Deeks said.
Kensi rolled her eyes as the gameplay continued.
After a few more minutes Sam went in for a lay up scoring 21st point, ending the game.
"BOOM!" He yelled as he and Callen shook hands.
"Whatever, I'm gonna go to the range and shoot." Kensi said annoyed as she stormed out of the gym.
"What's her deal?" Sam asked, directed at Deeks, while spinning the basketball on his finger.
"Oh, I don't know. Probably just sugar deprived. Speaking of, I was thinking about heading out and grabbing some lunch today and bringing it in. Any takers?"
"As long as it's not that gourmet peanut butter and jelly bullcrap again, I'm in." Callen said as he stole the ball from Sam and took a shot at the basket.
Deeks chuckled. "Alright. I'm gonna shower quick then I'll head out."
"Yea, hey, don't forget the conditioner Shaggy." Sam teased as Deeks went into the locker room attached to the gym.
Callen retrieved the rebound and dribbled up towards Sam. "So, what do you say big guy? Little one on one action?"
Sam smirked at Callen. "You're talking about basketball right?"
Callen chuckled. "I'm talking about basketball."
"Then bring it on." Sam smiled as he quickly stole the ball from Callen and made a shot.
The two continued playing for several minutes.
Callen had the ball at the top of the key and was dribbling. "Alright big fella, game point here."
"The hell are you talking about?" Sam asked. "You gotta win by at least 2."
"Not this time my friend, all or nothing right here, right now. Come on baby." Callen said as he harshly checked the ball in to Sam, who threw the ball back aggressively at Callen who ducekd with a smirk on his face.
"Ball. In." Sam said.
Callen turned his head to see the ball knock Kensi's gym bag she left behind off the bench and knock it off throwing some of its contents to the floor along with hit.
"Someone seems to have some anger issues. Maybe we should team you and Kens up next time."
Sam rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah. Whatever. Would you hurry up and get the ball."
"You threw it. You get it."
"You're closer."
Callen chuckled. "Ahh, don't say I never did anything for you, Sammy."
"How many times I gotta tell you to never call me that." Sam said as Callen began to pick up the items discarded from Kensi's bag.
"Would you hurry it up G? Before Kensi gets back and finds something else to chew our head off about."
Callen remained silent looking at something that had fallen out of Kensi's bag.
"G?" Sam asked.
Callen looked up and showed Sam the orange pill bottle in his hands.
The two of them looked intensely at the bottle and then at each other. Before either had a chance to say anything, they were interrupted by the merry whistling of Deeks exiting the locker room.
"Alright boys, I'm heading out, gourmet PB and J sandwiches for all coming right up."
"Deeks… is Kensi still taking pain meds?" Callen asked.
"What? No. Why?" Deeks stopped abruptly at this seemingly out of the blue question.
Callen held up the bottle that he had found on the floor. "Why does she have this then?"
Deeks looked at the bottle in surprise. "Uhh, maybe they're old and she just had them still in her bag."
Callen examined the bottle more closely.
"This prescription was filled less than a month ago." Callen said, getting more worried. "And it's almost empty."
Deeks grabbed the bottle from Callen and examined it for himself. "I don't know." Deeks said. "The last few weeks she's been having a hard time sleeping. Maybe she went and got a new prescription from the doctor. Or maybe she changed her mind and went to the doctor after the whole Sullivan thing after all."
"And didn't tell you?" Sam asked.
"I don't know. You guys know how she gets, hates letting people see her as weak."
The two partners just looked at Deeks worried.
"Guys, relax, I'll ask her about it tonight, I'm sure it's nothing."
"...Ok. Let us know if we can help." Callen said as Deeks put the pill bottle back in Kensi's bag and exited the gym.
Once Deeks was gone, Callen gave Sam a look.
"Look, G. We don't know anything."
"It makes a lot of sense though."
"We just need to wait and see what Deeks is able to find out. Jumping to conclusions isn't going to do any good."
Callen slowly nodded his head, hoping his gut instincts on the matter were wrong.
"How are you feeling, baby?" Deeks asked as he and Kensi settled into bed that night.
Kensi sighed as she attempted to get comfortable in bed. "Not too bad."
"Ok. Good…. But listen baby, I was thinking…. I know you've been having a hard time sleeping the past few weeks…. Maybe we should go to the doctor and see if they can't give you a prescription or a suggestion for how to help with your pain at night."
After a moment, Kensi replied, "No, that's ok…. I actually went to the doctor a few weeks ago and they wrote me a prescription for some pain meds to take as needed. I'm trying to gut through it though, as much as I can."
"Why didn't you tell me you had a doctor's appointment? I would have gone with you." Deeks said, feigning ignorance.
"It was just a quick thing Deeks. I was there for all of 10 minutes. And it was nothing big, you don't need to worry about it."
"Yeah…. Ok."
