"Kensi. I'm worried about you." Hetty said gently.
"I'm not sure why. And didn't we already have this conversation a few weeks ago?"
"I understand you are still in a great deal of pain from your injuries last fall. And that you still require pain medication to deal with it."
Kensi adjusted herself uncomfortably in her seat and cocked her neck remembering the initial pain. "Yea. I do still have a prescription to take as needed. Sleeping hasn't been the easiest thing." She admitted.
Hetty sighed. "I'm worried about your prolonged usage of such strong medications." Hetty said.
"Hetty, it's not a problem. I'm doing better. I barely take them anymore. I understand why you might be worried, but I've got it under control. Everything's good."
"Either way. It has been more than 9 months since your accident, and I have noticed you have been very irritable lately."
"Hetty." Kensi tried.
Hetty raised a hand to stop her from talking. "Whether or not it has to do with your medication does not matter. What matters is that something needs to change."
"Ok." Kensi said.
"And I want you to speak with your doctor and work out a new pain management plan. You and I have both seen what these kinds of medications can do to a person."
"Hetty, I understand, but you have nothing to worry about."
"I'm glad to hear it. Even still, I'd like you to start this process."
Kensi sighed. "Ok."
"Did you tell Hetty I'm still taking medication?" Kensi asked Deeks angrily later that night when they returned home.
"It… got brought up in conversation, yea." Deeks said.
"What the hell Deeks? Hetty just talked to me and told me I have to go to the doctor and taper off. She probably thinks I'm some sort of a drug addict."
"I'm sure she's just looking out for you. You have been taking them for a while, baby."
"I barely take them anymore! My god, now I have to go back to dealing with constant doctors visits again! Thanks a lot Deeks!" She said angrily.
"Kens." Deeks tried to talk to her but Kensi had walked into their bedroom and slammed the door shut. He figured he was probably sleeping on the couch tonight. A small price to pay to get Kensi healthy again, he thought.
