Welcome, one and all, to Ashes from the Trash! In this story, I'll pretty much be posting plot lines, arc summaries, interactions, or other things I had written, but didn't like/didn't use. As well as some reflections on why I didn't use it. This is pretty much just a 'Deleted Scenes From All My Stories' kind of place for me to throw up stuff that either was garbage, or could've worked if things were different. But hey. It is what it is. (Please note everything here is Non-Canon to the stories themselves, any deaths, reveals, betrayals, ect. didn't happen.)
Vegeta vs. Skorch - Extended Brawl (From The Z-Fighters React to Death Battle! (Take Two), Chapter 25)
Intro: So… I'll be real with you guys, I write either for five minutes, or two hours in complete silence without stopping. This… was one of the two-hour ones. I actually blanked on what was happening during those two hours, but I ended up with this. I'm really happy with it, but I cut it way, way, way back because… Well, it's not what you're there for. So, enjoy!
Vegeta watched as Skorch entered the ring. He looked at his body, and seemed to focus, becoming a skeleton once more, now wearing an overcoat. There was a somewhat green aura around him, making it clear he had a 'physical' body.
"I won't lie, I'm looking forward to this." Vegeta admitted. "I don't know what you're really made of… but damn is it gonna feel good to be the first person in this Universe to beat your ass into the ground."
"And if you lose?"
"Ha. Right."
"Geet…" Skorch said, until the ice returned, covering his mouth. Vegeta blinked, a bit surprised, and somewhere, deep down, nervous. If Skorch was trying to tell him something… he could tell him after he was done wiping the ring with his Skeletal face.
"BEGIN!" The ref shouted.
Leaving the ground burning as he shot forth, Vegeta braced against Skorch's sudden charge.
The force was much stronger than he expected, and he was pushed back a few feet, but was holding on for now at least. Vegeta pushed back, then spun and kicked Skorch in the face, the ice covering his mouth shattering. Vegeta went to town on the Entity, who was much faster than expected. Suddenly, Skorch caught Vegeta's hands, pushed them to the side, and struck with a double sideways hammer fist to Vegeta's temples. The Prince growled in pain from the punch, feeling a burn from Skorch's impact. They broke off, and Skorch began throwing what looked like balls of molten lava at the Prince. However, he quickly flew around them and crashed back into Skorch, the pair struggling against one another.
"This is nothing personal, Vegeta." Skorch remarked, not seeming to have exerted any effort so far. "I don't have a choice in this."
"That's bullsh-!" Vegeta snapped as he struggled to hold the Entity back. "You said… you can't change the future!"
"The future changed the second Kirby showed up and I didn't know. Also, when Beerus made that bet with Champa. Listen, you need to go for-" Skorch began, but the ice returned.
"I don't care, and I don't need your hints!" Vegeta snarled, breaking free from their stand still and punching Skorch in the jaw. "You're just some ghost who hangs around here! You're not a warrior! You're not a Sayian!"
Cracking skulls, Vegeta yelled in anger as he was knocked back, the Entity was tougher than he expected… Everything he did seemed to have no effect on Skorch, and he just kept getting closer. Vegeta fired a Ki blast, and Skorch absorbed it into his hand, the fire around his skull suddenly becoming Ki-Fire. Grabbing Vegeta by the neck, Skorch slammed him into the ground, then brought a boot up and stomped down on his chest. It hurt, but the armor he wore took most of the damage. It was clear Skorch was trying to resist, even though he couldn't do much.
"Destroy him, Skorch!" Champa ordered. "Fight for your new master!"
Jumping up, Vegeta unleashed a flurry of Ki attacks, but Skorch merely seemed to absorb them, then suddenly returned them, mimicking Vegeta's attack to a T, but now the attacks were black and green.
"How… how can he do that!?" Piccolo blinked.
"Wait, the fire dude can just… ABSORB KI!?" Krillin exclaimed.
Vegeta dodged the attacks again, watching Skorch and waiting for him to make the next move. It was clear he didn't want to fight… Not that Vegeta cared. Then, he saw him make a finger gun, and then make the 'shooting myself in the head' gesture.
"Wait." Vegeta realized something about Skorch's gesture. "That fire. It's… different. If his skull-fire is blue, is he protected from Ki? Well, only one way to find out…"
"What the he-" Skorch began but was cut off when Vegeta blasted him with a Ki attack, then flew through the attack and punched him in the face, then grabbed his overcoat and flipped him over his head, smashing him into the ground. Not wasting any time, He grabbed the entity by his flip-flops and spun, throwing him towards the edge of the ring. He rocketed over and dragged Skorch face-first across the ring, leaving a long trial of where his body was being dragged. After throwing him again, Skorch dug his fingers, which suddenly became like flaming claws into the ground and stopped himself. Rising up, he tossed his overcoat to the side and made succession of fast hand movements, seemingly changing something. Vegeta struck again… but nothing happened. Vegeta attacked quickly and furiously, but now the attacks didn't seem to do anything. Skorch summoned a blast and fired it at Vegeta, the blast slightly burning him as it shot past him on the left. Vegeta fired a Galick gun barrage, and it was clear this was hurting Skorch. The blast outright blew through Skorch, several of his ribs shattering and falling onto the ring.
"Ow…" He whimpered in genuine pain.
"How…is he changing his body!?" Goku exclaimed.
"Seems like it." Piccolo frowned. "Look at his skull… the fire's changing from black-and-blue to black-and-red. I think the blue means he's immune to Ki, but not to physical attacks and vice-versa."
"Isn't that cheating!?" Goku asked, bewildered.
"Technically, I think it'd be classified as another form, like your Super Sayian form." Piccolo answered as Vegeta was suddenly being forced to jump about as columns of fire burst from the ground.
Summoning a massive blast of Ki, he saw Skorch began to make hand gestures, and he threw the blast at Skorch, it collided with him and blew up a good chunk of the ring.
"HA! Eat that you flame-headed frea-"
Suddenly, Vegeta was thrown against the wall. Skorch re-appeared, now floating in the air, but also smoking, clearly hurt by the Ki attack. Suddenly, he began looking all over the place, his hand making short flicking gestures, slamming the Sayian prince into the barrier, ceiling and floor. Inexplicably, loud 'DING's were heard with each impact until he slammed Vegeta back into the ground with what sounded like a short alarm mixed with a bullhorn.
"Tilt." Skorch snarked.
"Beerus definitely didn't think this one through…" Goku muttered.
"I don't think he thinks much through." Piccolo grumbled.
"You know I have excellent hearing, right?" Beerus sneered, annoyed with their remarks.
"That may be, but your eyesight is terrible if you can't see the mistake you've made." Piccolo retorted, knowing that Beerus may kill him for that… but if they lost, they were all dead anyways. So… YOLO. Beerus was going to reply, but then realized Piccolo might be right.
"Pathetic." Skorch remarked, punching Vegeta across the ring. "Even with all your strength, all your forms… It means nothing. Take pride in knowing you have put up an honorable fight, something most worlds I've been too cannot claim."
The Prince and the Entity clashed once more, Vegeta clearly being pushed beyond his limits, and his anger carrying him this far.
"You made a mistake by not bowing when you approached the Prince!" He snarled, some sort of hot hate burning inside him that he hadn't felt before. "JUST… DIE!" Vegeta roared, his body suddenly being consumed by some new energy. Skorch took a step back as he felt the wind violently shift. Vegeta was yelling in the midst of some sort of transformation, this didn't make any sense! What the hell was going on!? Goku hadn't hit that Ultra-thing… so how could Vegeta?! For the briefest of moments, Vegeta's eyes changed… red… and a Kanji briefly flashed in front of him. One Skorch recognized from one of the earliest Death Battles, even before he arrived.
"Mother." Skorch muttered, before being absorbed by the uncontrollable blast Vegeta fired at him. The whole arena became a blinding white, everyone looking away for a few moments. When the light died down, Vegeta was left in his normal form, and Skorch was gone. Along with about 90% of the ring.
"He… he beat him…?" Bulma asked, unsure of what happened.
"Did he erase him?" Videl asked.
"Where'd he go?!" Champa demanded.
"I… I cannot say my lord." Vados frowned. "I can't sense his energy anywhere."
"Ha… Not so tough now… ar-" Vegeta began, but a hand suddenly grabbed his throat. Picking Vegeta up, Skorch appeared from thin air.
"Finish him! For Universe Six!" Champa shouted, and Skorch's body seemed to be acting of its own accord.
"There has to be something… Something we overlooked!" Vegeta was borderline desperate now, trying to think of a way to defeat his foe as he was pushed closer to the edge of the ring. "Or something that makes absolutely no sense but also does considering who I'm dealing with!"
"Oh, we are so fucked." Beerus groaned, realizing that at this rate, Champa was going to steamroll most of his fighters if Skorch could take a blast from what he assumed was Vegeta's maximum power. A few feet from the edge, Skorch coughed violently.
"Wait. What was in that bowl of fruit Chi-Chi brought?" Skorch asked, suddenly stopping dead in his tracks and swaying back and forth, seeming almost queasy.
"Watermelon. Why?" Vegeta asked, breaking free from Skorch's grip, now more confused than anything. He was about to either drop-kick Skorch through the barrier, or blast him with a Final-Flash-Big-Bang-Gallic-Gun combo, but then he saw the almost frightened look in Skorch's eyes sockets.
"Ugh… I… I freakin' hate watermelon…" Skorch moaned, a sickening gurgling sound emanating from him. "Hang on, I need a sec-BBRRRAGGHH!"
With another sickening sound, Skorch violently vomited neon green sludge, it seemed like… like Mountain Dew… onto the ground in front of him. Vegeta jumped back, unsure if this was some sort of attack or not, but after a moment, he realized it wasn't. Skorch was just sick. Really, REALLY, sick.
"Are you o-" He began but was cut off by another violent round of vomiting. Everyone watching was just looking on with no idea of how to react. Aside from a few of them feeling sick… Was this a plan?! A trick?! Did Skorch and Vegeta somehow have this agreement early on?!
"What the hell is he doing?!" Both Beerus and Champa shouted. One in confusion and one in absolute fury.
"Right. He's allergic..." Akira muttered. "Forgot about that."
"Wait, he's… allergic to watermelon!?" No. 18 exclaimed.
"Yes." Akira nodded. "For some reason, watermelon does to him what six bottles of tequila does to a human, minus the fun feeling of being drunk, and straight into the sickness the morning after."
"…uh." Chi-Chi blinked, suddenly remembering something. She had given Universe Six some watermelon, and Skorch… "Oh."
"Hold up." Goten said. "How is he vomiting? He's a skeleton!"
"That's merely the form he chooses to take, but somewhere, somehow, he does have a body." Genevieve explained.
As if to prove her point, Skorch vomited twice more, then weakly reached forward… and then his legs seemed to buckle and give out, resulting in him falling onto his back, moaning weakly. Vegeta blinked, then decided screw it. He grabbed Skorch by the leg and threw him into the air. Charging a Bang Beam, he waited for Skorch to coming in range, then quite literally blew him to pieces, seeing them get scattered in all directions and out of the ring. Skorch made no attempt to fight back, now too sick to even move, and parts of him crashed into the ground and didn't get up.
"Uh… we're gonna need a second folks." The Ref announced, leaving and talking with the others, leaving everyone questioning how this was going to turn out. It took them a minute to figure out if Skorch was alive or not (as he didn't bleed in his skeletal form or have lungs) but when his skull groaned in the hands of a ref, and a dismembered hand raised and flipped everyone off, they had their answer.
"Folks, in a shocking turn of events, Vegeta has defeated Universe Six's Challenger, Skorch!" The ref announced, to loud cheers from Universe Seven's side.
"IMPOSSIBLE!" Champa roared. "YOU CHEATED!"
"The hell are you talking about?" Beerus remarked dismissively. "He ate food from your world and got sick. From a legal standpoint, you poisoned your own fighter!"
"Well, that was unexpected." Roshi muttered.
"Hey, Dad. You okay?" Trunks asked, making his way down to where Vegeta was recovering.
"Yeah, I'm great." Vegeta nodded, cracking his neck. "I just need a second to catch my breath."
"Hey, I can take over for you if you want." Goku offered.
"NO." Vegeta snapped, then winced from the burns. "I'm fine. I'll be fine."
"Are you sure? Those attacks didn't seem like typical Ki attacks…"
"Like I said. I'm fine." Vegeta spoke, his eyes briefly turning orange as he did so. Bulma took a step back in surprise and Vegeta blinked. "What? Did I say something?"
End
Why'd I cut it?
Simple, it's too damn long! The idea was that Skorch had eaten watermelon previously, and in five or so minutes, the length of the fight, he'd have the reaction. I figured it was much funnier if there was the build-up of 'Oh, what can this guy do?', the fight briefly, and then he gets sick out of nowhere. IDK, it took too much away from the chapter at hand, and took away from the fights against Hit, which honestly are some of my favourites. Also, while Dragon Ball can be serious and intense, it's also pretty goofy at times. I think the semi-sorta-dark and dramatic build up, followed by the sudden total tonal upheaval fits in with the tone of the series proper more than a fight with some comedy in it. Plus, since Skorch isn't supposed to change or affect things, having him fight seemed to be counterintuitive in a way. Plus, I wanted to get to the Death Battle faster.
