Word has gotten around the cave of Robin and Zatanna breaking up over the last week. Robin avoided the cave like the plague, only coming for training or meetings that were deemed mandatory.

Wally tried reaching out to him but Dick didn't make the effort to contact him back. He felt guilty for not being a better boyfriend but at the same time, he couldn't figure out anything that he did wrong.

Zatanna, on the other hand, was always going out with friends to parties or having girl's days with M'gann and Artemis. He tried to always make time for her and work around her schedule but sometimes it just didn't work.

About a week after the incident, Dick came to the cave right after school for training. Not in the mood to socialize, he made his way to the cave's library to get some homework done after bidding a quick hello to everyone in the living room.

Dick set his backpack on the table and pulled out various textbooks, notebooks, and worksheets that he needed to do. He also pulled out a wireless speaker and a charger for his phone.

Setting up the table, he paired his phone to the speaker then went over to the outlet on the wall and hooked his phone up to the charger. Ignoring the message from Wally, Dick sat down at the table and began his worksheets.

Some time had passed when he heard the doors to the library open. Pushing his sunglasses higher on his face, Dick looked up to see Artemis headed his way with her backpack as well.

As Artemis approached the table she said, "You know training starts in half an hour right?" Robin nodded as Artemis put her backpack down on the table, "Do you mind?" Robin shook his head as he turned back to his paper, "As long as you don't mind the music."

Artemis scoffed, "Of course not, sounds like you got a good playlist going anyways." Robin didn't offer a response and they quickly fell into a comfortable silence. Robin's playlist changed between rock to alternative to pop but most of them described his mood without miss.

One song started that made Robin sigh as soon as it started playing. Not having the energy to get up and change it, Robin's grip tightened on his pencil as the beginning jingle evolved into the soft rock beat that followed.

Artemis noticed his grip change and began to carefully watch Robin. Artemis had heard about the break up and while she helped to comfort Zatanna, she wondered if Robin had anyone to go to. Wally had told her he had been ignoring him all week.

"Weep not for roads untraveled

Weep not for paths left lone

'Cause beyond every bend is a long blinding end

It's the worst kind of pain I've known"

Unknown to Robin, he completely stopped what he was doing. He was stuck holding his pencil to his worksheet, sitting as still as a statue, staring at the pencil in front of him. The words of this song haunted him as memories of him and Zatanna flowed through his mind.

He thought about their first date, their first kiss, their first anniversary. He thought about Zatanna and how someone so beautiful could love someone like him. Although, he didn't know if he could call it love after what happened.

"Give up your heart left broken

And let that mistake pass on

'Cause the love that you lost wasn't worth what it cost

And in time you'll be glad it's gone"

Tears started to gather behind his sunglasses and his breathing began to get shaky. He almost forgot Artemis was in the room. As he began to further lose control of his emotion, he violently got up, knocking the chair over. He started to try and run out of the room, hitting his hip on the table before warm arms wrapped around him.

Artemis saw how much Robin was cracking in the moment, but she wasn't sure how to help. He was lost in thought and the last thing she wanted to do was scare him. About half way through the song, he had snapped his pencil and she realized what he was going to do.

As soon as he moved, Artemis moved with him. She caught him in a hug, wrapping him up tight as he tried to keep the tears at bay. She herself started to tear up with him. "Let me go! Let me leave!" Robin said shakily as he fought against her hold.

Artemis wrapped her arms around him tighter as she guided them to the floor. "No Robin, I can see you hurting." Tears rushed down Artemis face as she started to rub her hands along his back and into his hair.

Robin was still attempting to free himself but his fighting was getting weaker. With a loud sob, Robin gave up and buried his head into Artemis's shoulder. "It will be okay Rob, I promise it will be okay." Artemis sniffed as she laid her head on top of his.

Tears running down his face, Robin succumbed to everything he was trying to hold back over the last week. He clung to Artemis as they both sat there crying. "I loved her and I don't know what I did wrong." Robin attempted quietly.

"Weep not for roads untraveled

Weep not for sights unseen

May your love never end and if you need a friend,

There's a seat here alongside me"

"You didn't do anything wrong Rob, I don't know why it happened but it wasn't your fault." Artemis held him there as he pulled himself back together. In this moment, he wasn't Robin the Boy Wonder, he was her little brother.

The two sat together, crying and comforting each other as music played in the background. Artemis held Robin in her lap as she rubbed his back. Robin held onto her and laid his head on her shoulder, taking in the comfort she was giving him.

About 10 minutes later, the intercom came to life, announcing that training was starting in 10 minutes. Artemis brushed Robin's hair back, "You going to be okay Robin?" Robin nodded against her shoulder as he began getting up from the floor.

Tear tracks were visible on his face and his cheeks were red as he blew a breath out shakily. He pulled Artemis up before getting wrapped in another hug by the blonde. This time he returned it. Robin was the first to let go but was held in place by shoulders.

"If you ever need anything Rob, you have my number." Robin nodded as Artemis lifted his face up and began wiping his face. Robin smiled slightly and batted her hands away. Artemis lightly shoved him before teasingly messing up his hair with a grin.

Robin turned towards the table and began packing his stuff back into his backpack. Artemis followed along with him and the pair left the library. Walking down the corridor, Robin's room was first. He stopped and started punching the code into the door as Artemis patted his shoulder, "See you at training."

She continued down the hallways as Robin watched her turn the corner. He opened his door and set his backpack on the bed. He pulled out a picture of him and Zatanna at the carnival from one of the pockets of his backpack.

He glanced at the picture for a few moments before folding it back up and placing it in its rightful pocket. Taking a deep breath and squaring his shoulders, Robin made his way to the training room. He felt just a little bit better than earlier.

As he entered the room, he gave a quick nod to Artemis as he passed then took his place next to Wally. The last week was hard but Robin could tell better days were ahead.
