In case anybody was wondering this will diverge from canon lore later, and I will add the dragons! Because srrsly who can not add Toothless? He is so cute! Also I won't usually make Snotlout and Hiccup cousins if I ever write more httyd fanfics, because I think of the universes as completely different and I also haven't read the books yet ( I have read "My Hiccup" by Jettara1 doe if that counts for anything, which is an amazing fanfic you should read )
Also before anyone points this out to me I have noticed there is another fanfiction like this and honestly its what gave me the idea to making my own, but that one has not been updated in 5 years, though you should still read it if you like the concept its by DinoMaster316.
The train slowly made its way from countryside village to countryside village, the first day was awfully silent for a train filled top to bottom with children. Though not surprising considering what had transpired a day earlier and the children spent much of their day staring at the windows watching the land ebb and flow.
By the second day the novelty had started to wear off and kids began talking more, Snotlout had gotten his voice back too, lucky us... and proceeded to begin teasing Hiccup who just rolled his eyes at him.
By the third day it was starting to get very loud in that train though almost half of the kids had been removed from the train already.
The fourth day was the day our characters finally stopped at their destination, left at the train station if the tiny blob of wood in the middle of nowhere could even be called a station.
The children soon got off the wooden platform where they found nobody waiting for them and started to feel anxious as more and more time passed.
"The professor knew we were coming, right?" questioned Heather shuffling her feet nervously not wanting to be left outside here when darkness came, she was a tough girl but she didn't like freezing to death, she had experienced that too much when she had run away from her foster home when they separated her and her brother.
"Perhaps we were incorrectly labeled," said Astrid before a woman came down the narrow dirt street pulled in a wagon by some horses as Dagur silently groaned inside hearing what she was like from Hiccup and Snotlout.
"Woah woah," she said in her thick accent, they should really be more considerate about their accents you never know when someone wants to write a story using the script and you cant tell a word they are saying anyways back on topic, she yanking on the horses' reins, slowing them to a stop in front of the eight children.
"Mrs. McCreedy?" asked Dagur with a strange nervousness in his voice.
"I'm afraid so," she said almost sneering, it was clear she instantly disliked the children behind her back. Both Hiccup and Snotlout were exchanging glances like here we go again.
"This is it then?" she said in a unimpressed voice giving the rugged children a quick glance over, "You brought nothing else?
"No, it's just us…" trailed off Tuffnut oddly subdued or plotting you can never tell with the twins.
"Small favors,"
"Come on, come on," she said to the horses as the children rode in the back as they approached the gigantic house.
If the house didn't already look big from the outside, it seemed even bigger on the inside. The interior was amazing with many rooms clad with chandeliers casting the rooms in a golden light, it certainly was a museum with many fascinating things layed around in every room causing tourists to come from miles around to see the historical house.
"Professor K. is not accustomed to having children in his house, as such there are a few rules we need to follow," she said sternly being the nice warm and fuzzy person she always was as Hiccup and Snotlout rolled their eyes behind her back at each other Hiccup mimicking her movements as she said the words, already hearing the rules a few times when they were younger, "There will be no shouting, or running, no improper use of the dumb waiter," As she was speaking Astrid reached out to touch a statue and the twins were listening attentively to every rule... so they could break every single one of them, "NO! Absolutely No touching of the historical artifacts! And above all there should be no disturbing of the professor!"
The children exchanged uneasy glances with each other before heading upstairs setting down the limited stuff they had brought, Hiccup hiding his stuffed dragon toy his Mother had called "Nadder" under his pillow when nobody was looking.
"This is going to be absolutely splendid! That old man is going to let us do anything we like!" said the twins eagerly already planning what to destroy first.
"Havent you seen enough explosions," snapped Astrid scoffing at them shutting them up, they went to the countryside to get away from exploding houses afterall.
"The sheets feel scratchy," sniffed Fishlegs trying to go to sleep.
"War's don't last forever, we should be back home soon," comforted Heather.
"Yeah if home's still there," pointed out Snotlout, which he thought was a completely reasonable thought, afterall half the city was already destroyed anyways, one more attack and it could be gone. Poof!
"Isn't it time for you to be going to bed," hissed Heather at Snotlout for distressing Fishlegs even more.
"Yes Mum," he mocked with an offended expression on his face who was she to tell him what to do?
"Snothat!" warned Dagur, he didn't allow anyone to mock his baby sister without first getting a punch to their face.
Snotlout looked down and sighed in annoyance or guilt. We may never know after leaving the room with a snort before swinging back in for a moment, "And it's SnotLOUT, LOUT you hear me?!"
"Yeah sure whatever Snothat,"
"Shouldn't we all be going to bed?" pointed out Astrid sensibly, "You heard what the lady said, everyone will certainly have a fit if they hear us talking,"
"No they won't," protested Tuffnut, "This is the sort of house where no one's going to mind what we do! Right Hiccup?"
"I built a rocket once and nobody noticed it,"
"A rocket?" asked Astrid skeptically; she knew he was always making stuff but a rocket was a little extreme, though impressive, she always did admire Hiccup's inventive mind even if it often got him in trouble, she speculated he would be some sort of engineer when he got older.
"A miniature one, it was for a school science project, it exploded after a minute though," he said disappointedly, "The two fuel system canisters were too close together, also I miscalculated the wiring so the wiring wasn't on right because I forgot to put it through one of the cords-"
"We get it, we get it," said Astrid rolling her eyes, not really wanting to know the specifics; it just sounded gibberish to her, instructions worked for her just fine.
"The point is, we can do Anything here! And nobody will even hear us, this house is Huge! It's probably over a 10 minute walk from here to that dining room down there, and any amount of stairs and passages in between," explained Ruffnut with a smirk.
"Maybe even secret passages," said Tuffnut in a mystical voice exchanging a glance with his sister as they started getting settled down when there was loud piercing noise.
"What was that?!" yelped Fishlegs ducking under the sheets despite being the biggest one of them all.
"It's only a bird, idiot," snapped Snotlout, "And some of us are trying to go to bed, so shut up Fishface!"
"Why don't you shut up, Snothat?!" sneered Dagur.
"It's an owl," identified Hiccup correctly knowing the sound well from the times he used to stay out late hiking in the nearby woods whenever he wanted to be away from the other kids and his father.
"You're right, this is going to be a wonderful place for birds!" said Dagur excitedly, breaking his starring sorry glaring contest with Snotlout for a moment, "Did you see those mountains we passed when we were heading here? There might be eagles, or deer! Probably even hawks,"
"Beavers!" suggested Heather she had always loved how the beavers built their homes so strategically.
"Foxes!"
"Bears!"
"Rabbits!" said Fishlegs wanting something that probably wasn't going to eat him.
"Maybe we could hear a wolf howling!" said Dagur, giving his best wolf howl impression.
"That is a wolf howl?" snorted Snotlout still salty about earlier.
"Yes, Snotpocket, could you do better?"
"OW OW OW! OOOOOOOO!" yelled Snotlout in a horribly offkey tone that had everyone plugging their ears, seemingly oblivious to this he continued to boast, "Try to beat that, Dagur- Dag... dag... dag… Dagster!" he announced coming up with a nickname for Dagur who growled running over to his bed.
"You ever call me that again and I will introduce you to my babies," he said kissing his muscles air punching Snotlout as Snotlout opened his mouth to protest before…
"You guys arguing is helping anyone!" said Astrid sitting up in bed, seriously did these guys ever sleep? They were her best friends and all but they could get hella annoying.
"For the love of the gods, just go to sleep, all of you!" yelled Heather at the same time. Everyone knew right then they had to go to sleep, nobody wanted to get pelted by their fists of fury and that's if they were lucky, with a house like this there was probably a mallet or an axe laying around somewhere, no thank you!
One last thing sorry if I accidently call a character by the wrong gender i'm taking this off the book and a script and since Hiccup is basically Lucy in this he might be called a she opps... i've tried to catch most of them but just as I am typing this I have found another one, so if you find one please tell me.
