Everything felt unreal to Cream. She had no idea what this person was talking about, or what a "Pokemon" was. She scratched her head and looked at the human confused.
"What's a Pokemon?"
The man looked horrified of her and didn't answer, backing away from her. Cream was trying to come up with a way to make him less afraid of her.
"I'm not going to hurt you… I promise!"
The man seemed a bit convinced and stopped backing away, looking at her.
"If you're not going to hurt me…"
"I won't!"
"...What are you?"
"I'm Cream the Rabbit! What's your name?"
"Professor Laventon."
"Nice to meet you, Professor!"
"Nice to meet you as well."
Suddenly, as the two were talking, three small animals ran from Laventon and over to Cream, and she started cooing about how adorable they were.
"Aww, hello! What's your names?"
"Um- they're Pokemon, they don't speak…-"
"What do you mean? I can understand them just fine!"
There was a moment of silence, followed by Laventon saying…
"WHAT."
Akari rushed over to where one of the things that came from the portal landed, and realized with a jolt it wasn't human. In the Obsidian Fieldlands, she saw the Noble Ursaring and a mysterious figure duking it out, both supercharged and clearly bloodthirsty. She snuck away before either noticed, but suddenly saw the mystery figure in front of her.
"Going somewhere?"
Akari had jumped about three feet in the air, before staring at the figure. It was hard to tell with the frenzied aura, but the fur seemed to be blue.
"Um- I just don't want to be…collateral damage?"
Before the mysterious being could reply, the Ursaring roared and launched itself at the thing, who was simply out of the way in a flash. Akari was shocked by the thing's speed. After luring Ursaring away, the blue/gold thing was back over to where Akari in a flash.
"What's your name? And…why are you so far out from civilization?"
"My name's Akari, and I saw some things falling from the sky. Came out of a portal…I think you were one of them? Who are you?"
"Name's Sonic, Sonic the Hedgehog! Fastest thing alive!"
"...Um, yeah I can see that. Is that aura thing doing anything to you?"
"Nah, not really. Just fighting off this giant bear thing."
"...Bear thing-you mean the Noble Ursaring?"
"Thing's not so noble, it tried to maul me!"
"Maul you? Ursaring shouldn't…"
"I assume that lightning thingy made it want to turn me into a hedgehog corpse?"
"I guess-wait, what lightning thing?"
"Lightning thing came from the sky after I landed, hit it, and it became angry. I got hit by the same lightning, but for some reason I'm not that affected. I'm not Tails, but I think it's due to Chaos Energy."
"...One, who's Tails? Two, what the heck is 'Chaos Energy'?"
"Tails is my best bud, I think he ended up here as well. And Chaos Energy- it's hard to describe. I'll give you the short version. There are these gems that grant power and I've used them enough times to have some of its energy inside me."
"Does it hurt?"
"Nope."
Akari thought for a moment.
"Do you think those gems ended up here when you arrived then?"
"Dunno. But I can tell this world…isn't like mine. Why don't you give me a few pointers to know here?"
"Hm…sure, there's these creatures known as Pokemon…"
"You can understand them?!" Laventon exclaimed.
"I can!...Is that abnormal?" Cream replied.
"It's…really abnormal. Nobody I know can understand anything a Pokemon says."
"Oh? Well then, I guess you do now, heh!"
"I suppose so…I should probably bring you into town, you need somewhere to stay, don't you?"
"I do, thank you for the offer, professor!"
"No probl-"
At that moment, the three Pokemon scurried away from Cream and further into the mainland.
"Hey wait-! Come back!" Laventon yelled.
"Oh- we should go after them, right?"
Laventon nodded.
"I'm too old for this…but what we do is use these Pokeballs, and throw them at the Pokemon. It doesn't hurt them, and it safely contains them inside. Apparently it's comfy for the Pokemon."
"Is that what you threw at me?"
"It was. Here, I'll give you some, and maybe you can catch the three."
"Alright, professor! I won't fail you!"
Cream ran off into the distance, looking for the three Pokemon. She quickly found the fiery one, tossing a ball at it and watching it go inside. She then found the owl, and did the same thing. Lastly, she found the third one, but was surprised to find it broke out of the ball.
"Ah yes, Pokemon can break out of their Pokeballs."
"Oh, okay, so I should try again?"
"You should."
Cream tossed another ball and was happy to find she succeeded in catching it, cheering.
"Good job, you're a natural at this, Cream."
"Thank you! Should we head to the village now?"
Laventon nodded. "We should. Follow me, Cream."
