First of all, I haven't done this in a while. I just wanted to say thank you. Honestly, it's because of all of you that this story even came out in the first place. If I hadn't have gotten such a good response on my story, Missing, Forgotten wouldn't even exist. You are all so incredibly kind and thoughtful. I haven't received one unkind thing from any of you, and for that I am so grateful. I wish I could just hug every one of you.
So I want to say thank you to every person who dropped a review (all 376 of them) and for every person that visited this story (a whopping 31,137! 31,137!) as well as the 73 Favorites and 94 Followers!
I'm really sorry that I haven't said thank you sooner. Please know that every review I've gotten, I've smiled, laughed, and cried.
Just...thank you.
Whoo, I just got a little teary eyed. Now that the lovefest is behind us, I have a new chapter for you! And it's in PERCY'S point of view! Wow, haven't seen that in a while. Also, please read the A/N at the bottom. I want to ask a favor of you. Thanks guys!
Let it commence.
Percy
The first thing that came to my mind was that my back really hurt.
I squeezed my eyes tightly together before I managed to open them, and I stared at the ceiling.
I sat there in post-sleep confusion for a second before it all came rushing back to me. Ambush. Nate. Bethany. Annabeth forcing me to sleep. Sore muscles.
"I hope you're happy, Annabeth," I said to the ceiling. "I think I feel worse than I did before."
I sat there waiting for an annoyed retort, but none came.
"Annabeth?" I rolled over and saw empty space. Now extremely confused, I sat up and looked around. I didn't see her anywhere.
I was about to stand up and look around when a hand grabbed my shoulder.
"Hey Perce?"
I turned my head and saw Jason standing behind me. I got to my feet, back cracking.
"What's up?"
"Have you seen Annabeth anywhere? Leo, Piper, and I were going to start looking for Nate, and we wanted you and Annabeth to come with us."
"I don't know where she is," I said, starting to feel more worried than confused.
"Weird," Jason said. "I haven't seen Bethany either."
"Huh." This started to feel more suspicions than ever.
"Well, would you still want to come?" Jason asked. "You have the keys, so we can check the prison cells."
"Yeah," I said, my hand moving to my belt.
I froze for half a second before I ripped my shirt up to stare at my pants.
My belt was unbuckled. The keys weren't there.
"The keys are gone," I whispered.
"What?"
"My keys are missing!" I exclaimed. "They were there before I went to sleep, and now they're..."
The pieces suddenly fell into place.
"Annabeth," I growled.
"Sorry, man, I have no idea what you're talking about," Jason said, scratching his head.
"Annabeth and Bethany are gone. They stole the keys to find Nate," I said. It started to make more sense. She knew that I would've been long gone once I fell asleep, and she stole my keys while I was in dreamland.
"Change of plans, Jace," I said. "We're finding Annabeth and Bethany."
Jason may have been confused, but he knew that this was important. Within a minute, the four of us were hurrying out of our base to search for my girlfriend.
"So do we have any idea where we're going?" Leo asked as I started down the tunnel to the exit.
"No," I said. "But I just know that she's not down here."
"Uh-huh," Leo said, sounding skeptical.
"Call it boyfriend's intuition," Piper put in.
"Cause you'd know that, Beauty Queen."
"Don't call me that."
I could practically hear Leo's smirk.
"If they were down here, they would've come back by now," I said. "That's how I know."
We walked a few more seconds in silence before Jason stopped walking.
"Do you guys hear that?"
"Hear what?" Leo asked. Piper shushed him.
I willed my heartbeat to slow down, and could feel my ears perk up. It sounded like cursing.
"That person really needs to wash out their mouth," Leo said. "With bleach."
"Do you think that's them?" Piper asked.
"No, it sounds too masculine," Jason replied.
"Barely masculine," Leo muttered.
"Let's check it out," I said, uncapping Riptide.
Jason and I took up the front, our swords held out in front of us. Piper was right behind us, her knife in her hand. Leo, realizing that he forgot to bring a weapon, pulled out a nasty looking wrench out of his toolbelt and lit his other hand on fire.
We walked quickly and quietly down the tunnel, following the loud stream of profanity.
Soon we were lead to a solid door with a small peephole, similar to the door outside our base. Piper crept forward and looked inside, trying to keep herself hidden.
She instantly pulled away, a hand to her mouth, covering up laughter. "You have to look."
I looked inside and saw something extremely satisfying.
Octavian was chained up to the wall, a swelling red bump on his forehead, and screaming swear words at the top of his lungs.
It was hilarious.
"Let's leave him there," Jason said. "The longer he's out of our way, the better."
We nodded and moved silently away. Once we were out of earshot, Jason added, "Looks like the work of Annabeth."
"Did you see the other two guards in there?" Leo asked. "They were both knocked out cold. I'm amazed they didn't get a rude awakening to Octavian's colorful vocabulary."
"Guards will find him soon," I said. "If Annabeth and Bethany were down here before, they're not anymore. Let's get out of here."
We soon made it to the manhole and climbed out of the tunnels. I looked around to see if there were any marks left behind by Annabeth and Bethany, but they had covered their tracks well. Annoyingly well.
I sat down on the grass, head in my hands. Why couldn't of she just waited for me to wake up? I tried to keep myself from screaming. That would just cause the guards to find us and make my throat hurt.
A hand fell on my shoulder, and I looked up. It was Piper, and she looked sympathetic. "Percy, we really don't know where to look. They could be anywhere."
"I know," I said quietly. "But I just know they're in trouble. I know it."
"What should we do?" Jason asked.
We sat in silence, waiting for each other to come up with an answer.
"We could send an Iris message," Leo said. "I could probably pull a spray bottle out of my toolbelt. I also put some drachmas in there in case of an emergency."
"Leo, you're a genius!" Piper said.
"Well, I—"
"Don't let it get to your head," Jason interrupted.
Leo scowled and put his hand in his toolbelt, rummaging around. His face lit up, and he pulled out a large squirt bottle out of his toolbelt, as well as a handful of drachmas.
"Leo, hand me a coin," I said quickly. He started to pump the lever on the bottle, and a fine mist came out, creating a rainbow in the sun.
"Make it fast, dude," he said. "My hand can't take much of this."
I clenched the coin in my hand and sent a fervent prayer to the gods. Please, please let this work.
"O Fleecy, do me a solid," I said. "Show me Annabeth Chase."
I tossed the coin into the rainbow, and it rippled into the mist. I got weird looks from Jason, Leo, and Piper, but I really didn't feel like explaining the cloud nymph from ROFL.
An image suddenly bloomed from the mist. It was Annabeth, Bethany, and...
"Is that Frank?" I asked.
Bethany was crouching over someone. Maybe they were knocked out? I could only see the back of their head. Annabeth looked terrified. She was clutching her knife, pointing it in front of her. The image slowly zoomed out, and I could see the face of a woman in the dirt.
Gaea.
The image suddenly flickered and looked like it was about to go static.
"Leo, keep spraying," Jason said.
"I am," Leo retorted. "It's running out of water."
The image flickered once more, and then vanished. We stared at the empty space where the Iris message was. The silence was incredibly icy.
"Anyone recognize that place?" I asked quietly.
We all looked at each other. Another moment passed by before Jason raised a hand.
"I think I do."
Two things, my compadres!
FIRST: I've started a new story! It's called Fragments, and it is a collection of drabbles and things that are too long for drabbles and too short for one-shots, of all of our Percy Jackson characters! There are no limitations! Go ahead and visit, and drop me a review of what you want to see. I'll give you credit for the idea, no worries.
SECOND: I've written my first complete one-shot! It's called Down with the Ship. It features Leo, and someone that we've all met before. But I won't let it spoil the surprise! If you could please look at it and review, it would mean the world to me. (Maybe the story should be called Down with this Ship, because the pairing is genius. Like that? I made a joke? No? okay.)
Sorry, I know I normally don't ask for reviews. I do this for purely my enjoyment, and I view it as a big plus if people tell me what they think. But if you could look at those two stories and let me know if you like them or not, I would really appreciate it.
You guys seriously are the best audience ever! I couldn't ask for a better one.
Thank you so much.
I love you all!
