Maura glanced over at Jane in bed who had drifted off to sleep, it was a long day with Kate and Todd coming back and Frankie stopped by with Susie once they were back from their honeymoon. She didn't realize how much she missed Susie until today. Maura observed how happy she was, she was definitely glowing enjoying her marriage with the middle Rizzoli. Maura sighed inwardly, she secretly wished that her and Jane could take a trip, just to spend more time alone together, not that she didn't enjoy being a parent, but she missed going on dates with her wife and just focusing on each other.
Was she selfish for thinking that? Probably, but she couldn't help it. She shifted in bed to pull Jane closer to her, pressing a kiss to her shoulder, this caused Jane to mutter something and turn around in Maura's arms to face her. She looked up at Maura who's face was supporting a frown. "Hey, are you okay?" Jane asked, lifting her hand to cup Maura's cheek.
"Yeah I'm okay, just was in my thoughts."
"By the expression on your face it looks like negative thoughts. What's on your mind sweetheart?"
Maura knew that Jane wasn't going to let this go until she figured it out what was bothering her. "I miss us."
Jane looked at her in confusion, "We're right here, neither of us have left the house since we had the twins."
"That's not exactly what I mean, there hasn't been much of an us lately, we've been taking care of our babies, getting into a routine but I feel like it's less time we're spending together. We don't go out on dates anymore, don't get me wrong I love spending time with our daughters and doing our motherly duties, but I miss the time we spent together. Does that make sense?"
"You want us to go out more?"
"I miss dating my wife, I know we have these other responsibilities but I feel like we're neglecting our wants, focusing on everything else except each other. I feel distance, but you're right here. I miss that spark between us."
Jane stopped to take in Maura's words fully before speaking, "Maybe you're right, maybe we are focused on everything but each other. We're parents now, actual parents, and that in itself is quite time consuming, especially when feeling this level of exhaustion all of the time. But we also have a lot of people in this family to help us out. Our lives have definitely changed and we have new priorities now, you make a valid point though. Maybe we can work on setting a schedule at least once a month we get someone to babysit the kids and we get out there spend some time together that's focused on each other. I don't like knowing you're upset, I'm not sure if I'll be ready to leave the babies for an evening, but we can try."
"You don't think I'm selfish for thinking this way, do you?"
Jane shook her head, "Of course not, I think it makes you all the more human. I miss you too you know. I love you and we'll figure something out, we always do," she placed a hand on Maura's hip. "Don't think you can't share your thoughts with me, no matter when or where you feel them, I want to know."
Maura nodded, "I just get scared sometimes, scared to think we might fall apart one day because we aren't focusing on each other enough."
"I'm not going anywhere Maura, we won't fall apart I promise. We should get some sleep though before those daughters of ours awaken, they have quite the lungs on them."
"Thanks for listening to me Jane."
"Of course, always," she kissed the top of her head and pulled her close. "Sweet dreams my love."
Maura woke up the next morning bed empty beside her, she stretched before getting out of bed and sliding on her slippers. It seemed eerily quiet which concerned her a bit. She went down the stairs and seen Jane alone in the kitchen, focused on what she was cooking on the stove.
"Good morning," Maura looked around finding it surprising that Frost wasn't in the house making breakfast for everyone. "Where is everyone?"
"Morning Maura, our daughters have been fed and are fast asleep in their cribs and Frost took Kate and Todd out to eat breakfast with Cameron," Jane flashed a warm smile in her wife's direction. "What you said last night really got me thinking, we don't necessarily have to go out to have some alone time. So here we have it a nice morning to ourselves"
"That's real sweet of you Jane."
"Yeah I can be sweet sometimes when it really counts," Jane went to put the food on two plates and turned off the stove, finished making the tea and sliding a mug over to Maura before sitting down next to her. "So how does it look?"
Maura looked up at Jane with a grin, "It looks delicious. Thanks for thinking of me."
"Always," Jane rested a hand on Maura's knee before she started on enjoying the breakfast she made for them.
They made light conversation as they ate discussing everything from their daughters to how much they missed this bonding time with each other. Jane said something at a point in their conversation where Maura laughed a genuine laugh, one Jane felt she hadn't heard in a while. Jane kissed Maura gently once their breakfast had been completed, hand resting on the back of her neck, thumb brushing against the warm skin which caused Maura to shiver slightly.
They ended up finding their way on the couch in the living room, Jane on top as she trailed her free hand down Maura's covered stomach. Jane placed kisses on Maura's jawline and collarbone, making Maura gasp lightly at the touch of her lips against her warm skin. "Oh Jane," Maura closed her eyes, feeling Jane's mouth nibble then suck at her earlobe. "I need you."
"Already?" Jane asked, tongue dragged slowly behind Maura's ear.
"Yes," she responded tugging at Jane's hair. Jane quite enjoyed Maura's reaction her hand slid underneath her panties, thumb stroking her softly. "Shit..." she muttered as Jane applied just the right amount of pressure. She watched as Jane's head disappeared in between her legs, her thumb hooked into the thong of her underwear tugging them down swiftly as her mouth took over what her thumb was doing moments ago. "Oh Jane," she buried her fingers in Jane's hair as Jane's tongue entered her. Maura wanted to observe her wife but she closed her eyes at the amount of pleasure she had been feeling. Jane kept up with the movements, enjoying the way Maura twitched against her as her tongue began fucking her, as her tongue moved inside of Maura, Jane's mouth covered her completely sucking at her. Along with the moans of Maura you could hear the sound of Jane slopping at her folds. Maura shouted out as she felt the orgasm hit her moments later.
Jane's motions slowed as she helped Maura ride out her orgasm, "Shit," Jane spoke over a minute later pulling away from Maura's pussy with a pop. "God you're so fucking hot."
"Come here," Maura pulled Jane down capturing her lips in a very heated kiss, tasting herself from Jane's tongue. Her hands rested against Jane's ass, spanking her lightly. "You're incredible, you know that."
"When the time comes you're going to give it to me good, aren't you?"
"Oh baby, you have absolutely no idea," Maura grinned devilishly before bringing her down again for more kissing. Grateful for this time she could spend with her wife. Just the two of them until they had to focus on their other responsibilities.
As if right on cue one of their daughters started to cry, "I'll go see what's wrong," Jane moved to get up, Maura placed a hand on Jane's thigh.
"Let me, you took care of them this morning, I have yet to see them today," Maura kissed the top of Jane's head before she went up the stairs. Jane ran her fingers through her hair, closing her eyes to get some rest she needed after all that energy she put out making sure her wife got pleased.
Jane shot up from the couch hearing a hard knock on the front door, she placed a hand on her chest it felt like her heart was going to come out. She took a moment to calm her breathing before she answered the door.
"Cailin, I'm surprised to see you here unexpectedly. I thought we said to call or let us know you want to come over before you just show up..." Jane and Maura ever since having their daughters wanted people to contact if it was a good time to come over and that it'd be more rough to have unexpected visitors. Jane paused once she seen the upset look on her sister in law's face.
"Jane, I... I'm sorry... it's just that. I didn't know where to go, who to turn to," she shifted on her feet. Her eyes were red. "Please can I come in..."
"Seeing as you're upset and on my porch, I'd be rude to turn you away now, come in," Jane stepped to the side closing the front door after Cailin entered the house.
"Where's Maura?"
"Last I seen her she was checking up on the twins as she let me have a small nap. Did you want me to go and get her?"
Cailin shook her head, "I'd feel better if she wasn't present," she went to sit on the couch, rubbing at her thighs. "I made a mistake Jane, a huge mistake... and now it caught up to me."
"Alright you're making me even more concerned. What kind of mistake?"
"The kind a girl makes sometimes when they are feeling lonely and vulnerable..." Cailin looked terrified to say actual words. "When you want to be wanted by someone, but they reject you so you hang onto to the first guy you see who makes you feel better."
"Well let's start with the who... who rejected you?"
"I um it was... it was Cameron. Cameron Davies. We had lunch one day after you just gave birth to the twins, it was going well and it just felt... he made me feel calm and when he was driving me home I leaned over and kissed him, I thought he kissed back but I soon realized that he wasn't. He looked so startled by my actions and then he gave me this whole friend speech after I made a fool of myself. Said he didn't realize that he was giving me mixed signals and he apologized even though he had nothing to be sorry for, you know. He was just being his sweet, kind self and I misread his feelings one hundred percent."
Jane pinched the bridge of her nose, she didn't know why but she could see that coming from a mile away, Cailin confusing friendliness with romantic feelings. "Does Frost know? Know that you kissed Cameron and have feelings for him?"
Cailin shrugged, "I wouldn't be surprised if he did, but that's not the worst part. I ran into a guy he could sense I was upset. We went to the Dirty Robber and he got me a drink which I happily accepted. I ended up drinking... drinking a lot... and well he took me back to his place and one thing led to another... I didn't tell him to stop because it felt so good to me and well I didn't even think of the whole safe sex thing..."
"Cailin," Jane scolded her, "That should've been the first thing you thought about. You don't know what kind of diseases that guy had or..." she stopped her words. "Cailin, please don't tell me..."
"Jane... what am I going to do?" she cried. "I can't... I can't be a mother..."
Jane looked at the distraught girl, mostly thinking how Cailin could still be so careless and irresponsible, scared that one day Evangeline or Mayveh might make a mistake this big. Hoping that they both made good choices in their lives. "I honestly don't know what to tell you Cailin, I thought you were smarter than this... you have to be held accountable for these choices you make... Although I can't tell you what decision to make, I just hope you learn from this and find a way to cope. How positive are you that you're... pregnant."
"I took two tests, giving me the same result, and I am late... I'm never late..." Cailin ran her fingers through her hair.
"And are you positive that you gave this guy consent to..."
"Yes... I remember him asking me a few times if I was sure. I was insistent, I wanted to feel wanted, I craved the attention literally begged for it. I'm an idiot and you're right I am held accountable for my decisions, I just... I'm scared and I can't go to my mother for help."
"Why did you come to me then?"
"I trust you with my life Jane. I couldn't not talk this out with you. I know you probably think I'm an idiot."
"I just think you have a very important decision to make. Only you could make this choice, I won't agree that it's a good choice if you choose to... you know... terminate... I just having kids was a blessing I never knew I really needed until I was able to hold them in my arms. Maybe this experience will mature you a bit more because honestly I don't think you're there yet. It's up to you to give it some thought, okay? That's honestly all I can tell you."
Cailin nodded, "I know I made a huge mistake and I'm sure as hell going to learn from it. Please can we keep this between us... for now?"
Jane sighed and nodded, "For now... but if Maura asks..."
"Yeah I know, you'll tell her."
"Honestly you need to be the one to tell her, this is not just something that should be heard from someone else. She's your sister after all."
"I'd like to think of you as my sister as well."
"I'm honored you only see me as a sister. I should go check up on Maura, I wonder what she is up to."
"Jane... would it be okay if I rested on your couch for a bit?"
"Sure, go ahead," Jane stood up and headed upstairs. She glanced back at Cailin, giving her head a shake. She really worried about the Martin girl sometimes. Jane searched for her wife, she found her in the rocking chair, eyes closed a children's book on her lap, it looked like she was reading the twins a story and ended up falling asleep. Jane rested her hand gently on Maura's shoulder, squeezing it gentle causing Maura to slowly stir awake.
"Jane?" she looked up at her wife groggy-like. "How long was I asleep for?"
"You got me there, I'm not exactly sure when you fell asleep, never had a chance to look at the time once I woke up from my own nap because we have a visitor."
"A visitor?"
"Yeah... Cailin dropped by, she looks like she could use some sister bonding time from you."
Maura yawned, "That's so sweet of her, I'll be down in a moment."
Jane kissed the top of her head, "Don't fall back asleep."
"Okay," she nodded, her eyes shut slowly.
"Maura..."
"Yeah...?"
"See you down there soon," Jane smiled softly, so incredibly grateful for this woman in front of her. She headed downstairs to keep Cailin company the best she could all the while thinking about the complicated situation Cailin was in.
I hope you enjoyed this chapter I want exactly sure what I wanted to do but this is the outcome. My favorite parts of course were all things Rizzles. The intimate times and Maura discussing her feelings with Jane about wanting to have some time alone. And Cailin was just extra because she hadn't been mentioned in this sequel yet. Been focusing on Stranger Things since the new season came out so that's the main reason for the delay it was all I could focus on
